Jorg Schmadtke set to be named the new sporting director according to reports.

Anyone got any thoughts on him?

Disastrous move. Liverpool supporters can’t even spell Keita and Van Dijk properly how are they going to deal with Schmadtke?

Apparently he is unpopular and abrasive easily offended and has fell out with many a manager, sounds like a classic liverpool footballing decision.

It's a hard job to assess from the outside anyway, but even harder when you've never heard of him ?.

Thunderbird - at least fans have an excuse to mis-spell his name as FSG.

It seems he regularly gets teams to punch above their weight and the most important is he seems very good with finances. Sounds like FSG kind of person. But unsure how he did do in a big club with CL and PL aspirations.

Been reading up on Jorg Schmadtke. So, apparently he is good friends with Klopp. Been reading YouTube comments on Wolfsburg channel and reading up on different sites and the fans there love him. It was near enough unanimous. They were all saying how he changed their club and how they will be forever grateful. I have read the stuff from main stream media about him being unpopular and abrasive from the outside looking in. But the story from the Wolfsburg fans paints a different story.

Alonso1786 I like that research. You can garner a lot from that type of investigations.
If this guy can spot value, since many here have been banging on about how good brighton's scouting network is, surely this type of appointment is the right kind. We want to be signing the Caicedo's and Mac Allisters of this world for 5m and 7m.
Our set up is gearing up to give youth a chance, after having ignored anything but the generational talents for many years, which I am all for.
If FFP is not going to be implemented then this is the only way to keep up-build the squad through clever scouting, with a promise of game time, and then buy the odd prime Ali/ VVD when some necessary.

Ugarte at 63m euro's is a punt as he may not settle and may not handle the hustle of the premier league. Barella at 50m may not settle in L4. Caicedo at 90m may start angling for a move to Real after 2 years and throw his toys out of the pram.

The only way we will be able to attract the best of the potential who arrive a low cost, on low wages and with little pressure, is if these players can see a way into the first team. This means that we can't have a load of old, injury prone players on high wages in the way.
Now is the perfect time to implement this strategy.
Get rid of Milner, Ox, Nobby, Adrian, Matip, Kostas, Thiago, Gomez and maybe others, and create space and opportunity for young players to get game time whilst learning from some of the best.

The market is ridiculously inflated, and there are no guarantee's that players will adapt and settle. We can't afford anymore Naby sized errors. Nunez 'may' be the next £60m sized mistake, which wouldn't matter had we bought him a little earlier.

I don't think we need as many incomings as people seem to think, we have replaced the attack and have young Doak waiting in the wings.

We have Stefan, Elliot, Carvalio and Jones (at last being fit enough for a run in the team) plus possibly Trent for midfield. Mac Alister would be the dream signing

Two highly rated young right backs, Konate is still young, maybe Berg if he steps up, Virgil's time looks to be up so a quality center back is needed and I'd like to see a young left back.

Pot on, Idontlooklikeklopp. We only need 3 or 4 max.
