Pretty sure Klopp is as angry with this seasons capitulation as most fans, additionally failure of medical department, who must take atleast some responsibility for the most injury prone squad i ever saw.

It a sad state of affairs, and a waste of a season.

A malaise has set in it at the club, i really do hope they can turn it around, but in my view this is looking like the end for him, and potentially FSG.

People are questioning his motive and loyalty now. Utter shame. Of course he is not above any criticism. But Jurgen Klopp have proven to me at least that if you back him well he will deliver the trophies.
This is no Germany or Italy where you could get away with fee bees and cheap signing and expect the manager to compete. This is the PL where at least 10 clubs spends more than £200 mill every year one way or the other.
Pep, ETH, Potter and soon Arteta and Howe has back ups worth £50 mill on every position. Klopp has Ramsey who failed his medical to play at RB.

{Ed001's Note - he did not fail his medical. Medicals don't even work like that.}

Now that Klopp has stopped working his miracles, we need New owners to compete.

He deserves his chance to rectify things in the summer. I just hope he's self-aware and ruthless enough to seek some external help on the coaching side as I believe the air at the AXA centre is getting stale.

The choice of new sporting director will be interesting. We really need to get that nailed soon as there is so much work to do this summer.

Ur right capital income, klopp biggest mistake is working miracles with the budget he had compared to his rivals. now everybody expects these miracles every season. no doubt he isn't faultless this season and there certainly something wrong in the players/ management this season, the drop off in attitude and desire compared to previous seasons shows something not right in squad.
I had similar debate on here few weeks ago and i ast if anybody could tell me any team at all that is in midtable for net spend consistently and is at the top of the table consistently? I will get pelters for bringing money into it and words will be twisted to say that money gurantees success and all this, but if anybody can name 1 team that done it over a sustained period of time il hold my hands up.

Klopp’s biggest mistake is that he trusted these muppets in thick and thin! I wish he was a Conte or Pep, those two would have ripped these lots! His hands were tied and is still tied.
If he wants an elite player then give him. You know what happens when he gets the best players, he gets you trophies!
I am sure there were alternatives to Touchemani last summer but they were expensive and the club had no money to buy both Nunez and another £80 mill CM.
I would sell everyone of them before Klopp.

Im sure there are managers out there, but for me none come to mind who could replace Klopp and get us back challenging for the title under the current way we work.

For me Klopp is the man for the job. But again I’m not 100% certain that he will be as successful in doing it as he has been in the past. It’s a very big ask.

Perhaps challenging for top 4 and getting CL qualification and domestic cups might be the new ceiling. Because City, Utd, Chelsea and Newcastle aren’t going to stop spending anytime soon.

Anytime a top players wanted out it was. o one’s bigger than the club i feel people are putting Klopp above the club. How many managers have Chelsea and Madrid had in the last 20 years and how much have they won? There’s nothing wrong with changing a manager if it’s not working it happens to clubs every season. I think we should change if he can’t motivate them to get 4th.

Loyalty and trust is his biggest asset. I don't wish he was like Conte and Pep in that way.

Yes, his biggest asset could also be his biggest weakness. He's old and experienced enough to see that, I hope and rectify in the summer.

He needs external help.

Agreed FPF. You have posted quite a bit about a new DOF who isn't afraid to go against Klopp and I fully support that.

And Capital, Klopp has bee spending significant amounts and fairly recently as well. I wouldn't classify Nunez, Diaz, or Gakpo as "cheap" signings. Plus, there is no truth to what you said about that it was either Nunez or a midfielder during the summer. Klopp chose not to go for another midfielder until late in the window and only managed to get Arthur in. He chose not to get another midfielder during Jan. His hands were never tied and he has always gotten a player in the position that he wanted.

Pep would have had the luxury to buy any replacement he wanted and Conte would have walked away.

Why so doom and gloom in here. It was highly improbable we were coming back last night.

It’s cup final games from now until the end of season now, the next three being whoppers. I don’t buy into this if we don’t qualify for the CL then Bellingham won’t sign. He will look at the project overall not just a season, in my opinion.

In terms of RB we have two exceptional youngsters in Ramsey and the lad at Bolton who will provide competition next season, as both are very good players with huge potential.

People keep banging on about Newcastle and the money they have to spend. Look at man utd, and how much they have spent the past few seasons? Hardly set the world alight did they. Money doesn't always equate to trophies. I have no doubt whatsoever, that we will be back.

Jones red - the doom and gloom is related to seeing the same clueless performances all season. Last night was as limp as it has been all season bar a couple of anomalies.

Interesting you say that Jude would look at the project overall. Do you know what the project is?

Over the entirety of the premier league the 3 biggest spending teams are Chelsea, Utd and City.

If we look at how many premier league titles those 3 have won between them you could probably put a decent argument together that spending the most money does equate to the premier league title more often than not.

We need to stop saying Klopp worked miracles. He's done a very good job but it's nowhere close to a miracle.

Leicester was a miracle. They signed a striker from the conference, survived relegation, then won the league with a squad that cost less to buy than Salah makes in a year.

Klopp has spent about £800m including breaking the global transfer records for a goalkeeper and a defender. On top of that we signed Mane, Salah, Fabinho, Gakpo, Diaz, Nunez, Keita, Ox, Konate, Jota etc for about £35-65m each. We signed Thiago the year he made the UEFA team of the season and won everything.

The only 2 exceptional bargains were Robbo and Wijnaldum who came in for about £30m combined from relegated teams and proved everyone wrong. If every signing had been of that ilk I'd maybe entertain the idea our success is a miracle. But they weren't. Pretty much every other signing has been a major financial outlay either in wages or transfer fees.

By creating this false/ hyperbolic image of what Klopp has achieved it makes him untouchable and immune to criticism. He's won 1 league title and 1 Champions League in 8 years. Let's not pretend that no other manager on earth could've potentially done that with £800m to spend.

Klopp's done a good job. Take the rose tinted glasses off though and stop trying to make more of it than that. 2 major trophies in 8 years on a £100m a season budget is not a miracle. We make ourselves look ridiculous with throwaway statements like that.

Cheap signings, Capital? What that football? Gakpo and Darwin in terms of actual cash, cost 110m alone. We're not even going to talk about VVD, Fab, AB1, Naby, Diaz and Jota, all the players Klopp WANTED and got to the tune of over 400m. Nah, the idea that Klopp doesn't spend money, makes cheap signings or that the owners are cheap is just lazy hogwash being repeated by many cos they are too lazy to actually go and check the numbers.

If Klopp is getting all the credit for all we have achieved then he should get majority of the blame now cos it was he and the other "legend" Edwards who let this team go stale by handing out big contracts to players who should have NEVER been on them like Naby, Ox, Matip etc. You have Gomez on a 5 yr deal whereas he is just coming back from another devastating injury. Hendo was given a 4 yr deal at age 31. We needed backup for Trent and chose to sign an INJURED Ramsay and now he is lost for the season whereas Connor Bradley was there who knows the system BUT he got stupidly loaned out instead. All this madness is happening under his watch and it is the owners or someone else to blame?

Please, I ain't trying to hear this rubbish about "Owners have stabbed Klopp in the back" or "FSG don't support Klopp" or "Klopp is working miracles or making cheap signings" and all that mess. No way. This is majority on him. that said, I want him to stay and get it back on track cos we have seen that even this season when we play our game, we are still a problem to all bums in the PL. Just my opinion.

That could easily have been 5 major trophies in 8 years MK. Klopp made the club competitive again since 08-09. 13-14 was a freakish run of form led by Suarez and Sturridge despite Rodgers inability to coach defence. No coach can guarantee trophies, just look at Spurs, MU and Chelsea (consistently) . Klopp has not performed miracles but is certainly in the top 10 or 5 coaches worldwide.

18.) 16 Mar 2023
16 Mar 2023 17:38:29
Was Klopp the one who worked the miracles though or did we just recruit very well for him. Mane and Salah weren't his first choices I can't remember if Wijnaldum or Robertson were either I remember being heavily linked to Dahoud/ Zielinski and Hector/ Chilwell. Lallana Gomez Firmino Henderson Coutinho Milner Trent Origi were already at the club. Yes he got them all playing well together but that's much easier when you have good players, now the squad isn't looking good and he looks completely lost. We need to get this summer right or we're in huge trouble.

Mk. Imo I what klopp has done in getting 3 90+ seasons in premiership and getting to 3 champ league finals in in 5 years with a net spend between mid-low end of the league is a miracle. Can u name another manager/ team to do it?
