Mom for me tonight. Him and Vvd were really good. Konate considering it was his first start in a while was also commanding.

Elliot does loads of things right and loads of things wrong but the great thing about it is it’s mostly his decision making and not his ability so the more experience he gets the better at this he will become. He didn’t ever shy away from demanding the ball either.

On the disallowed goal was it a foul by Jota? I was the opposite corner of the ground so didn’t even see the supposed foul.

Ref very poor tonight. Anyone swear he was getting paid by the hour the amount he was slowing the game down.

Very soft foul at best imo JK.

Ref was garbage, but we expect as much from English officials these days, I suppose.

Jk23 it was given as a foul by Jota even though Semedo clearly shoved Jota into Kilman.

Surprise surprise, it was that Manc cheat reffing the game. He also managed to book Fabinho for jumping over a leg breaking tackle and landing on Lemina. How he's still allowed near Liverpool games is a joke.

Sr and Mk cheers for the replies gents. Literally no one on the side of the ground I was in had any idea what the var decision was for.

Same as the Fab booking Mk. Crowd were on their feet as we thought the wolves player might be seeing red. Then a yellow came out and a wolves free kick.

Personally I thought the Jota decision was fair and the Fabinho one was harsh. Both pretty close though. I thought the ref was fair tonight, got loads wrong, but I think he called it as he saw it. That’s the problem with humans though I guess.

Footy the ref really slowed the game down mate. At one point he held up one of our free kicks for so long I decided to go on a quick stadium tour and do my weekly food shop and got back to the ground before it was taken ?.

I think elliot has such great potential, I don't think he belongs in the midfield though. He needs more freedom, I personally think the firmino role is ideal for him, with training and awareness of course.

Elliot was putting himself about and putting his foot into challenges seemingly confidently for the first time since his awful injury. If his ankle stays good and he psychologically recovers I don't see why he can't be a quality midfielder.

Why oh why when things don't go our way does the poor old referee get the blame if people think he was that bad then do the course become qualified and then try it a can assure you it's not as easy. as you may think I have been doing g it for a li g time now and people who are now qualified think they no better by the way it was a scouser who trained me up whilst I was in the army a great bloke and to be fair me being Scottish my fav English are the scousers hospitable funny and genuine people just love them good music too.

Come on guys, Jota stuck his leg out when he’d lost the ball and was going down. A clear foul I think. His run to setup the chance was great though, something we’ve been missing.
On a negative note, I’m over Salah’s wastefulness. What’s happened?

I agree Burkeyboy but why was Jota going down in the first place? Not saying it was a definite penalty but certainly should have been checked by Very Awful Robot.

Rabh by no means am I blaming the ref for the performance as we were slow and lumbersome in large spells of the first half.

The ref slowed the game down and I think my opinion is backed up by another 50 odd thousand in the stadium because even after we scored there was still large boos on his decisions to pull every free kick back etc.

Good to hear you’re reffing as the game doesn’t happen without them.

As a fellow military man I also did a refs course in 2009 and got qual’d to level 9 I believe. Assessed for two games to become level 5 at the time.

I ref’d one game but never reff’d another adults game again due to how the players talk to you.

Good to hear you’ve stuck with it though.

Cheers mate a started whilst in the army where you were not allowed to even talk ti the referee but in Ayrshire where I officiate its murder a was suspended for 2 . o th because how a spoke back to a player but I do it for the love of the game and it also gets me out of doing housework ha ha.

Rabh, it's just Paul Tierney. Klopp even told him to his face once he was the only ref he had a problem with. He's clearly got an agenda against Liverpool which is no surprise given he is from Manchester. Just as Mike Dean used to give us more favourable decisions as he was from Liverpool.

The FA and PGMOL are clueless. They put referees in for games they should be nowhere near due to ties to the area. Tierney i get you want to defend him as a fellow ref but some of his decisions against us in recent years are indefensible. Lemina could've broken Fabinho's ankle last night and yet he got the decision. It is embarassing.

02 Mar 2023 11:18:11
Rabh defend refs all you like but Tierney has previous and therefore his incompetence needs questioned. As MK pointed out Klopp too has publicly questioned him. no one can forget spurs - Kane not being send off and Robertson getting send off. (both reds btw) and also in that game jota was shoved in the back for a clear pen which wasn't awarded.

last night he was at it again - if you allow semedo to shoulder charge jota off the ball then you must allow the consequences of that action to happen ie he falls into the player - imo they were "football incidents" which when the agenda suits would be allowed. As for the Fab yellow - it further demonstrates that he knows nothing about football - Lemina slid after a poor touch - fab gets himself side on to take the ball and shield it, Lemina doesn't touch the ball and gets nowhere near it - For Var to then check that it was only a yellow was unbelievable.

Tierney is a tool faced gargoyle championship ref at best, always gives the team we're playing hope with his inaccurate and odd refereeing, incidentally I used to do a Very Awful Robot back in the day so bad I cried when I saw how good Peter Crouch was.

Completely agree Dobby

Jota only fouled the defender because he had been taken off balance during his run in the penalty area.

If the decision was to disallow Nunez’ goal then it should have resulted in a penalty to Liverpool

I swear blind VAR is being used to engineer and manufacture excitement - whether this be during matches or in the season overall

In the arsenal game last night Martinelli goal was checked for offside - the VAR line didn’t even look like it was adjacent to both touch lines

Absolute farce.

{Ed025's Note - get a grip TS, VAR has been a godsend to liverpool mate and you actually won the prem on the back of it, so stop the whining and just accept that if the ref calls a foul by a liverpool player that it is not a conspiracy..

19.) 02 Mar 2023
02 Mar 2023 16:10:52
Same thing with me, MKS. Jota got shoved into Killman by Semedo at full pelt BUT I wasn't surprised it was not given cos well, it is what it is and it did look like a foul, IMO.

As for Ed25 saying VAR is a god-send for LFC this season, I don't know about that BUT I still have NO idea how the 3rd Wolves goal in the first FA Cup game at Anfield got disallowed so maybe someone can tell me.

20.) 02 Mar 2023
02 Mar 2023 16:13:23
Ed025 - I am making a general point about the inconsistency of VAR - not only LFC related

United goal v City?
Martinelli’s last night

Not saying it hadn’t benefited us but it is soo inconsistent and was brought in to rectify inconsistencies in on- field decisions

To give some parity - surely they *could* have said Fabinho went over the ball last night (which he did) and recommended a red.

{Ed025's Note - VAR is not fit for purpose in its present state TS, too may basic errors which could come under the guise of cheating for me mate, i would scrap it until they perfect it to be honest..

You're a breath of fresh air 25.
Tell it like it is.

{Ed025's Note - i cant help myself flash, i say the same to my red mates when we discuss all things football or any other sport come to think of it mate, i am a bit opinionated of course but they dont call me ronseal for nothing.. :)
