Hi guys. Im a rangers fan and have also followed the reds for over 30 years. The talk of stevie Gerrard becoming the rangers manager is for me a good thing for rangers and shows our ambition. We I've seen that some are saying he would be under the no pressure. How wrong can you be. Rangers are a huge club with huge demands that only certain types are able to handle. Personally I think having stevie Gerrard as manager would be showing our intent and Olson give stevie a chance to run a club which needs to be our back on top. I know that most of you will be thinking why go to Scotland but why not. If it was good enough for souness then surly it's good enough for Gerrard.

I think it’s an interesting prospect as well mate. I don’t know much about Gerrard as a person so it’s hard to speak on his character, but he’s a big name and apparently doing a decent job with the youngsters. I have very limited knowledge of the whole situation but that’s my thoughts on the matter. I think you could do a lot worse that’s for sure.

Feels to me like a ‘big name’ to paper over the cracks. Gerrard is an under 18’s coach. Does anybody even know what style of football he’s renowned for as a coach? If you want a decent manager there would be dozens out there that could do a better job. The only advantage Gerrard has is that he’s used to the pressure of being at a big club. There have been many big players put in charge at big clubs and not a vast amount have succeeded comparitively.

I don't know much about Scottish football but like you say Rangers are a huge club with huge demands but do they really have the resources to match those expectations? Celtic are easily the best team in Scotland now, when Souness took over he was able to spend as much on players as any English club but that is not the case now. I think that this appointment would be a mistake for both Gerrard and Rangers.

You measure a coach at youth level on how he improves players, and not on results.

The very fact that Curtis Jones, Rafa Camacho, Kane and Lewis have all progressed through the ranks in less than a season under Gerrard, suggests that he has done a very good job.

The debate is though, that as an ex reds legend, just being himself could arguably have been enough to inspire them into playing for him and trying harder to improve and impress him.

Who here wouldn't love Gerrards approval?

At a senior side for another team, will he be able to inspire them and improve them without just being "Captain Fantastic".

His character has changed as he has grown older and moved ibto coaching. He seems more mature, more humble, and hasn't had a controversial incident in a number of years.

I can't question his character anymore. Only his ability to coach. Is he a good coach or is he just Steven Gerrard? That is the question. We won't know until he gets a chance.

I don't think Rangers is the right job for him.

I don't know much about the Scottish League (been years since I watched a game) but I would have the same opinion if it involved any top level team in any other league. Seems to me to be too much too soon. Again, I don't know anything about coaching either. But I know coaching teenagers and adults is not the same thing. He may have played with both, but he hasn't coached both, and it's a risky move to test his management skills, at such a level, so early in his new career.

got to agree with MK and RA, its not the best move for Rangers or Stevie G, who hasn't been coaching for long, and it has been with under 18s,
Rangers would in my opinion, be better off with someone with some know how of the scottish leagues,
Stevie G would be better off with another season or two with the kids, then move on to the adults teams, with Liverpool or somewhere else,
he does to have matured while coaching, which hasn't been that long to be fair .

Rangers is perfect for stevie cos the risk / reward is so jeavily slanted towards the reward imo. Yes there are challenges, but wow if he can take over and surpass celtic whilst restoring a traditional scottish power back to the top as a first time manager. Yup that would be a big tick in his CV. If he fails I can't see how that will be a significant dent to his career. Risk is he looks out of his depth, but again as a first time manager it may not be unexpected if he does fail.

Take it on stevie I say.

Robbieg1969 it might be good enough for Gerrard but the question should be is he good enough for Rangers? I personally hope he is but it’s a massive gamble on a man who was a great player but zero experience as a manager. It could go well or it could go a bit Shearer/ Neville.

I'm a rangers fan and it's the best thing to happen to scottish football for years. I don't think you realise the size of rangers and what it means to hundreds of thousands of people. It's more than a club it's an institution and if he is successful it will only mean great things for both Liverpool and rangers. We get back on the top where we belong and Liverpool get a manager who has experienced the pressure of a big club. The demands of fans. Both clubs its a no Brainer.

Is this true? I'm a rangers fan and half of Glasgow is buzzing with the news that stevie Gerrard will be or could be the next manager. Where did you here this.
