Hi ed
To start I don't buy into all of this spurs are steeling our targets nonsense but do you think spurs might come in for sako as they are looking for a left back and could probably do with another center back hope we can get a deal sorted as would be gutted if we miss out on him.
Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Sakho is a centre back who can play left back. Clubs will not look to buy players for a primary role which is not natural and their interest in a left back rests elsewhere.}

Hi edds

I know chelsea were in for Gerrard a few years back I'm just wondering if any other clubs have been in for him over the years?
Cheers {Ed002's Note - Check with Ed001 tomorrow when he is about. He would eb much better placed than I to answer.}

Campbell

1.) Apparently Mourinho wanted him at pretty much every club he managed. so I presume Madrid wanted him for a while.

2.) 08 Jul 2013 22:45:22
I think RM wanted him around the same time they got Alonso?

3.) Madrid enquired in three consecutive summers; starting in 2008. In 09 they were seriously interested and apparently were willing to pay whatever we asked, but he knocked them back. {Ed001's Note - he has had a few offers, the only one he has come close to taking was the Chelsea one in 2005. That seems to have been a watershed moment for him, when he made the decision to stay as long as we want him. Though you never know what the future will hold.}

4.) Inter Milan once bid 35million I'm sure?

5.) Gerrard is quoted as saying that he, Rodgers, and FSG wanted to extend his current contract and it would get done. He looks to have worked hard in the off season during his rehab and looks to be in some seriously good shape at the moment. I think he is 100% focused on being here and pushing LFC as far as he can before retiring. Just one mans opinion based on observation and player quotes.

6.) Ed 001. Was there big bids ever made for Liverpool players in the past that got knocked back? Have Liverpool made any big bids over the years which got turned down?

Thanks. {Ed001's Note - yes, of course.}

7.) Real Madrid and Manchester United

8.) Gerrard is probally one of the last one club players left in the prem, and there probally won't be to many more now its all money

Hi ed
I know your probably tired of being asked about suarez but if we receive an offer of 40mill do Liverpool have to except the offer or just let him talk to them?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

Campbell

1.) Neither, Suarez does not have a £40m release clause. Liverpool will accept an offer and/or let Suarez talk to the bidding club when Liverpool decide it is the best option, there is no set price to activate this.

Firstly the pod cast was great and Benny that joke was so bad it actually made me laugh!
Ed001 are our lack of goals so far a worry to you?

Campbell

{Ed001's Note - yes, of course, but I am hoping that the coaching staff also sees it and will be working on rectifying it. Certainly there seemed a lot more fluidity going forward against Arsenal.

Oh and please don't encourage him to tell jokes, he spends ages cracking jokes on skype while we are running tests or preparing, he can't tell a joke to save his life. Hence him doing that as a dare.}

1.) 27 Aug 2015 17:21:28
Ed, I haven't managed to listen to the podcast yet so sorry if this is mentioned, but do you think the improved fluidity going forward was a result of a better balanced team in the middle of the park? 2uth lucas being in the team this give can and milner a licence to go forward and imo having Hendo and milner in the same team means you can't get the best out of both of them. Interested to get your thoughts on this

{Ed001's Note - yes, I think it was a major part of it.}

2.) 27 Aug 2015 20:28:52
Thanks for the reply mate, loving the podcasts btw

Really enjoyed the podcast thanks to both of you for doing it. Looking forward to the next one

Ed002 I have been reading some of your posts about some English clubs being sold around 2017 and you said "The worst case scenario would be institutional ownership" I was wondering why is that

Campbell

{Ed002's Note - 2017 will see a significant boost in value of Premier League clubs as the first of the new TV monies come through. Some owners will look to sell at this time to reap rewards from their investments. Several clubs will be valued at a level where it will be difficult to find individual buyers so you will see more investment groups (such as FSG) becoming involved. In some case institutional owners (e.g. Far Easter insurance companies, Chinese new money banks etc.) will be looking to investing in the sport in England because the potential returns are high. Whilst FSG keep throwing good money after bad at Liverpool there will come a time that if significant success on field is not happening then they will look to move on. If they were to sell, say, to a Chinese bank then the new owners interest will be in obtaining a return for their investors - and they will look to that return without necessarily continuing to invest in the club.}

1.) 27 Jun 2015 17:57:44
They only have themselves ro blame by appointing and then keeping a very poor manager in role despite it being very evident he is dragging the club down

2.) 27 Jun 2015 20:48:49
English football at the level we're still at has turned into a big willy contest between foreign investors and has completely lost it's soul. It's going to get far, far worse over the coming two years or so. We may as well start publishing the League Tables in the Financial Times.

3.) 27 Jun 2015 23:31:08
700m profit for shuffling the squad and selling our best players. And adding a fewposh seats to a stand. Not bad work if you can get it. I'm being a bit disingenuous. They did do the Dunkin' Donuts deal.

Ed001 if your about are FSG trying to make Rodgers quit by getting rid of his backroom staff?

Campbell

{Ed001's Note - no they are just making changes they deem necessary.}

1.) 05 Jun 2015 18:17:51
oh ok! do you think Rodgers will pick their replacments or will they be assigned to him

{Ed001's Note - he picked Pascoe mate, so that should answer that question for you.}

2.) 05 Jun 2015 18:31:17
Have to say as someone who isn't the biggest Rodgers fan, if FSG are sacking his coaching staff without his consent and don't eventually sack him as well, I fail to see how this is remotely a good idea. Back him or sack him- this all seems very half baked.

08 Jul 2014 22:59:11
Thank god Coutinho wasn't picked for the world cup squad its going to take those players along time to get over that match.

Campbell

1.) Might take them just as long to get out of the country itself!.

Why would he ask the club to reject a bid from PSG? even if the club accepted a bid it doesn't mean that he has to go there.

I believe it is from an article from Football Whispers written by Sam McGuire Ed002. Here is where he says it.
"Havertz signed a new five-year deal at the BayArena in July but it appears as though this was more to protect his value after the Bundesliga side granted him permission to visit Merseyside"

Campbell

{Ed002's Note - Maybe Liverpool will be letting Ben Woodburn have a look around the Arsenal training centre at London Colney?}

Hi Ed002 I was wondering if you have any idea if Toure would be interested in becoming a coach at the end of the season? He was a great player through the years and seems like an intelligent guy that his team mates really respect.

(I mean no disrespect when I say "was a great player") Just comes across as a potentilly good coach.

Campbell

{Ed002's Note - No idea but I am pretty certain that Toure won't be coaching at Liverpool next season.}

Subotic is a right sided CB I don't see how that effects Sakho, or Lovren for that matter. If he does come in then it looks like it will be for a long term replacement for Toure I would suggest that is why Ed002 mentioned them in the same paragraph at the start.

John I think you are being harsh there Paulo96 seems to be talking from experience so no need to say he is talking rubbish. Paulo I think the reason people had such a problem with it is the fact that Fergie saw fit to mention something that is so personal in his book I wonder if Henderson had signed for united would he have put it in?

Is that from Zenit ED002?

Campbell

{Ed002's Note - Zenit has already been refused.}
