Notes from Exeter game:
1. Chirivella and Texeira are nowhere near ready.
2. Smith will push for a regular place on the team soon. Ojo maybe in 1 1/ 2-2 years.
3. Brannagan et al probably not.
4. Illori looks good on occasion, overly ambitious other times. Like Lovren under Bodgers.
5. FA cup games should be decided by overtime and penalties like league cup.

Over&out.

Texeira is definitely ready, don't know what game you were watching. Chivirella is definitely too raw though.
Ojo will be pushing by the end of the season in my opinion.
Brannagan looked silky on the ball, I think we simply didn't see enough of him because of the excessive hoofed punts up the field. Ilori can definitely cover our injuries - game time will only aid his confidence (which must be shot after the past couple of years) .

I disagree, Texeira looked good, especially in the first half, did more in 45 mins than Lallana has done all season. Chirivella, yes, looked poor. He was the one I was looking forward to seeing. Sinclair was poor despite scoring.

Totally agree. I don't see any fisrt team future to any of our starting 11 tonight other than Smith (this includes Benteke I am afraid to say, even I start to lose hope) .

Fans here have these fantasies about Texeira, Illory et al which I never understood. I was a bit dissapointed tonight at Klopp that he also followed this line of thought and put this bizzar starting line up on the pitch. I really hope he will not repeat it in the replay. It is a bit disrespectful to LFC history in this great competition. And it is not that the FA cup is not important enough for us this season because we fight of the league title or against relegation.

It was a risky and for me unessacery gamble. If we will gamble again we will pay the price eventually. I know we have injured or tired players but we could play Allen, Milner, Can or Lucas at the back, Lallana at least from half time. If we had lost and it was very close the media would have made the most of it and criticize him big time and rightly so, if BR would go with this team he would be choped to pieces.

But we got out of jail os let's leave it at that. One thing is sure. The most safe position in our starting 11 for serious games Mings. Bogdan's goalkeeping is just a continous horror show. How could we have bought so many average players is beyond me.

I suppose we all see different things in games!

NB: this is not being too critical of players - I've seen more experienced sides not put the effort in or come back twice so overall given the team a good result!

Tex - will play better with better players who have the movement - still overall had a good game.

Branagan - apart from a lovely through ball and a defensive clearance I didn't see much - could be attributed to what he was being asked to do for the team.

That being said lots of rain, heavy uneven pitch players not playing with each other / returning from loan etc. we can't complain too much or base it on one game.

What I can say after one game is Danny Murphy is a boring commentator with little knowledge about anything (watches replay of their keeper from behind stopping the ball - that from the other angle shows it crossed the line - it looks ok to him! says Ojo has made a difference; then asks why Lallana hasn't been brought on as he adds assists and goals - not knocking Lallana but you look at his stats this year; says lallana should go see the manager as to why he was brought for the game if not being played - tough - Klopps the manager - he decides who plays and who doesn't - take it as a compliment that he was only going to play if in a dreadful situation) .

Say what you like fanobip your always whinging one way or the other, it's a difference of opinion and to be fair it was an inexperienced team, but nice to see the youth get some much needed game time. They will learn a lot more from tht than playing in the u21s, maybe klopp should of included some experience that's up for debate. for me tho am quite happy and will be happy if he did the same at anfield.

Are you having a laugh? 4 games in 11 days before this and arsenal and utd to come next week and you want klopp to play the fit regulars! Part of managing is prioritising, we have one foot in capital one final are still in Europa and trying to get closer to top 4.BTW they drew the game how is that ddisrespecting lfc hhistory? I would play a very young team again in the replay on the Anfieldsurface we would beat them. Tex and smith stood out for me no coincidence they are in 1st team ssquad already for most games. Illori needs toget fit but he has ssomething about him.

Disagree about Teixera, thought he looked like a player. He is the style of player that will improve vastly with better players around him.

Your a pessimist fanobip. I think more than one will make it. I think you don't grasp the fact they have hardly played first team football if at all in some cases. I think klopp was very brave picking this team but he had to do it.

The first reason being any more injuries and the players that you as have no future will have to be played.

The second is that they needed a rest they have had a hectic schedule and must be knackered.

The third reason we have arsenal and United coming up we need our first team players fresh and ready.

I am glad he picked that team and proud of how they battled back against a team that were very well organised, played very well and the pitch was awful. Think positive and be happy you might like it.

Really fanobip? Here's a thought, how about you just give them a chance and stop using every poxy little thing to make it about BR.

We hardly had any fit players. Klopp knew he had to play a lot of kids so went with kids who knew each other through playing a lot in the reserves together. The kids didn't do so bad I thought. They gained some valuable experience. If Klopp did pick his best possible eleven, lost more players through injury and we got hammered of United and or Arsenal fans would slate him so he couldn't win. He did what he thought was best. We are still in it, we will play again at a later date when possibly have more fit players, even players bought in. We didn't lose any more key players. I don't see what there is to moan about. Remember Notts County? That was mostly a 1st team squad and we didn't play any better.

Knuckles, I didn't whine after we beat Saints 6:1, or City or Chelsea or after we beat Leicester for that matter. I thought we could and should have won this game tonight with slighly stronger line up. If you scroll down you will see that I said before the game that with this starting 11 we are likly to get a draw and a replay which we don't need right now.

Re being impressed or not impressed by players, I admit my standard is a bit higher than if a player doesn't lose the first ball he gets or can run over the first defender he is the new messaiah. I think that players need a bit more skills than that to make it to the first team and this is why I think Smith can make it. He looks ok as a defender, can run with the ball, can pass and cross well and can finish as we saw today (is he better than Moreno though? not sure0. None of the others is good enough and if you read well you see that many here think like me.

I think Smith, Brannagan and Ojo have futures here. Teixeira and Kent probably do too.

Fano, who could have made our team stronger with no senior cb's, and twelve senior players injured. We can barely field a decent first eleven yet you say we could have Mickey a stronger team. Memo: There was no way on this earth that Klopp would have risked any of the first team players who are one run away from pullin a hamstring just to make people like you happy and he has been vindicate. We're still in the Cup so I guess he did great.

16.) 09 Jan 2016
09 Jan 2016 05:20:51
Again, fanobip, I strongly disagree.

I think we should go with this very young starting XI from here on out in the FA Cup.

Our schedule is a bit insane. We should focus on the league and Europa; those should be priorities. Next is CC. And far further down is this competition. Play the youth, and give our first team a rest.

IMHO, if Klopp is honest when he says that he plans to reduce the use of loans and retain more of our young players, then he'll have an obligation to find playing time. FA Cup is out such venue for young players to get great experience in a cup competition, without the same pressures you'd find in league games.

On Texeira in a Klopp system:

To me it looks like he slows the game down way too much. Look, If you play as one of five mf in a Klopp side you mode the ball along in 1-2 touches. If you decided to use 3-4-5 touches you better 1) play it forward to someone in an interesting area or 2) get past someone creating something for yourself.

Texeira uses too much time on the ball not creating enough. Can he learn? Maybe, maybe not. Still looks more a Bodgers tiki-taka style player passing it around for passings own sake than a Klopp heavy metal dude.

That's my point fanobip you not going to winge when we win just when we lose or draw. Learn to take the rough with the smooth lad! Like a say difference of opinions. am sure most here would like to see the young boys do the job at anfield in the reply.
