Ed002, i noticed you mention balata in your summoning up can you say much about the lad, meaning do you expect him to be world class defender? and is he a ball playing cb or a beast type cb?

knuckles

{Ed002's Note - Much is expected of Balanta.}

Ed01 cannit wait for your match report mate, 90% of the time your thoughts on migs is the same as mine, be interesting to see if they are this time mate. hopfully you have time to read this first to see if you agree.
1st goal what the hell was he playing at.
2nd the ball was so close to him my 86 yr old gran has better reflexes he should of saved it.
3rd should of give mati the call to leave it and would of been a routine pick up.
4th total flapped at it a non league keeper would of dealt with that cross.
Yes the defence was poor and somtimes you need to rely on your keeper and migs let us down he should get nowhere near our first team agen simples.

knuckles

{Ed001's Note - I just need to wait and watch them again with a calm head, and a bit more watching what happened and less swearing at him! I do feel, on initial viewing, he was the biggest problem for our team, which says something when Matip and Lovren are so poor. Have to say Spurs thoroughly deserved their win, but we didn't have to hand it to them on a plate!}

1.) 22 Oct 2017 21:26:27
Spot on, Ed. Just saw the game and Spurs are good enuff to beat us and did not need our help today, for sure. $ gifts today and franklly, it could have been 7 today as Spurs did everything they wanted, when they wanted and we just helped them out the whole way. frankly, Migs is no longer possible anymore. He is responsible for the first and fourth goals. From now on if Migs is ever in goal and makes a mistake, don't blame Migs as he does not pick himself. Blame the guy who knows he's crap, wants rid and keeps playing him anyway for reasons I can no longer fathom. On this issue, I'm fed up with Klopp. He must act now on the GK issue as all our probs starts. Each time, Karius and Ward have played this season, both have made one error btw them this season in 4/ 5 games n the defence seems to know what they are doing. Migs has made his 6th error that cost us a goal in the PL alone tonight. See the trend here? At what point will this madness end? Lovren? No comment.

2.) 22 Oct 2017 21:42:08
Match report would be easy for him I guess! He could sum up in a few sentences lol!

3.) 22 Oct 2017 21:48:58
We gave them at least a 2 goal lead,

No team with top 4 aspirations can do that,

I've backed Klopp to the hilt but his defensive judgement is non existent

Bring in a top defensive coach and build from the back,

Ps Harry Kane is over rated.

4.) 22 Oct 2017 22:04:03
There is nothing overrated about Kane. He is good enough to score against us already. He does not need us gifting him goals like Migs did today.

{Ed025's Note - kane is quality bingo, yes you were your own worst enemy but them opportunities still have to be put away mate, and harry at the moment is the best in the prem at the moment..

5.) 23 Oct 2017 00:02:05
I'm glad he is English. He really is some player. I'm not one for swooning over other teams players but kane is something special. I would love him to play for us. He could play cm if he wanted, he is such an intelligent player. Gives me hope that as England we can beat anyone with that lad in the team.

6.) 23 Oct 2017 20:47:57
1st - Migs routinely sells himself when a striker gets in on goal. I played as a goalkeeper until I was 17 and started again in the past couple of years in the office 5 asides. Sometimes a striker is in on goal and you genuinely can't stop him, but you have to at least make him work for it. Cover your angles, stay up as long as possible and make him produce a decent finish. Migs doesn't do that. He makes it easy.

2nd - I've said time and again that "Migs is a good/ decent shotstopper" is a myth. He repeatedly has failed to deal with saveable shots that aren't down his throat.

3rd - Migs doesn't communicate or command the defence.

4th - See 3. Plus his judgement of crosses and handling is terrible and always has been.

So that was just a routine Mignolet goalkeeping performance, really. Why is he still our goalkeeper? Continuing to play him is the most baffling thing I've ever seen a manager do.

And I've seen managers do some properly strange things. It's more baffling than the time Rodgers put Downing at left back and Jose Enrique at left midfield. More baffling than Steve Staunton putting O'Shea, who wouldn't cross even on his strong side and looked to cut inside at right back and Finnan, who could cross on his strong side, at left back, when they were playing the opposite way around in the PL and CL for Liverpool and Man U.

17 Oct 2017 22:03:14
Wheres all the negative bashers now? You lot know who you are, 0-7 that's all a have to say.

knuckles

{Ed025's Note - one swallow does not a summer make knuckles..as they say..

1.) 17 Oct 2017 22:12:54
Yeah i here you mate, but a tell you ed025 its one hell of a start don't you think? Yes on paper we should beat them but by god it wasnt just a win, a very convincing one at that.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that knuckles mate..

2.) 17 Oct 2017 22:19:43
the people your calling negative bashers are only giving there opinions on what there seeing week in week out and I could be one of those bashers as I have had a go at the team and manager i've also praised them too. and i thought Milner give a lot more tonight than Henderson and would play him against spurs decent performance tonight but spurs will be tough but I fancy us to beat them.

3.) 17 Oct 2017 22:21:38
We are not out of the woods yet, Knuckles BUT I agree woith you, it was a convincing win away from home in the CL and that is nothing to sneeze at. Credit to the boys and Klopp for the good result.

4.) 17 Oct 2017 22:26:19
Yes, I'm with you there mate.

5.) 17 Oct 2017 22:27:37
But that bloody defence didn't contribute with a single goal! 🤡.

6.) 17 Oct 2017 22:31:38
Hopefully this gives the lads the confidence they need especially in front of goal. Spurs also had a very good result tonight so they will also be buzzing on Sunday. Our defence going up against an in form Kane and Eriksen will be their biggest challenge since city. If we win on Sunday then that could be the kickstart this season needed.

7.) 17 Oct 2017 22:32:47
Redsteve if you are one and? Just coz your one ain't going to change my mind, i support liverpool and go to many games so supporting lfc means players managers and owners win lose or draw, i certianly don't come on here to bitch when we lose but i also read many bitching posts, so yeah when we win convincingly away in the cl i am here to gloat like it or lump it pal.

8.) 17 Oct 2017 22:32:56
knuckles are you looking for us (negative posters) here im.
yes i was a good game for us, win the next 3 games and you made me a beliver from doubter.

9.) 17 Oct 2017 22:36:06
Jayden one game at a time we won tonight so enjoy the result instead of trying to put a downer on it, some posters will just never be happy.

10.) 17 Oct 2017 22:44:57
Tonight looked easy because we were so dominant but the fact that no other team has ever done that to them in Europe before and they were unbeaten at home this season tells you just how good we were tonight. We always make the opposition look poor when we play well but they are a much better side than we allowed them to be tonight.

11.) 17 Oct 2017 22:47:49
Knuckles what part of my comment is putting a downer on it 🤦🏻‍♂.

12.) 17 Oct 2017 22:51:09
Crazy horse, if we lost the next 3 believe you and me the 4th al still be in the stands watching the match, because supporting a team means to follow a team thru thick and thin! Have you heard the saying we win together we lose together? And i will continue to do so come on you mighty reds!

13.) 17 Oct 2017 23:11:37
KNUCKLES
I don't come on here to bitch mate just to give an opinion like you i've been to quite a few games been supporting the reds for 45yrs and if u read my first post i said it was a good performance tonight and I fancy us to beat spurs. all of us on here have different opinions and I respect your views too knuckles enjoy the spurs game and hopfully 3 points.

14.) 17 Oct 2017 23:31:47
Redsteve in my views it will be 3 points am sure of it hopfully might see in in the sandon brfore a game soon for a pint lad.

15.) 17 Oct 2017 23:34:57
Jayden instead of enjoying tonights result you have to bring the spurs game up why? We won tonight let's think of spurs at the weekend eh, but for now re-joice in our great performance.

16.) 17 Oct 2017 23:48:59
The Seville score is more of a shock to me,
Unbelievable Jeff!

I'm delighted for Ox, getting your first goal will ease the pressure a bit,

If you get a chance watch Kietas performance for Leipzig, He looks absolutely top top class,

A Great night in many ways,

17.) 18 Oct 2017 00:02:36
I go the cabbage hall knuckles enjoy your pint.

18.) 18 Oct 2017 01:47:14
knuckles we are not talking about support here? you and your so called positive friends have zero right to judge my love or commitment to liverpool. yes i think Kloop is not the best manager in the world but that hasn't changed my love or my negative minded friends love for Lfc. anf its one good game in last 7 so let's not be too exited.

19.) 18 Oct 2017 03:31:01
unbelievable! some of the finest football I have ever seen. And it was a champions league game, away from home. UCL proper.

The dam has burst I reckon, I think spurs will be quite easily dispatched actually. Lallana and mane to come back. amazing, on cloud 9.

20.) 18 Oct 2017 05:55:29
yeah, I forgot to mention Milner. He was f****ng brilliant tonight. I love Hendo and you can't really compare the two. I thought milner was more creative and more focused on getting the ball forward rather than playing safe and just tidying up. I'm glad he had a good game because a few people have been doubting him here recently, even myself a little but he proved tonight he still has enough in the engine to play some lush football. good on ya Milly.

21.) 18 Oct 2017 01:07:00
ye but it only takes one devil-bat to make a winter for some fans.

{Ed025's Note - your not wrong faith mate..

22.) 18 Oct 2017 06:28:58
I told my wife that one swallow does not a summer make.

She turned so frosty that we've moved on to winter now.

23.) 18 Oct 2017 07:34:33
Knuckles please explain to me why I cannot bring up our next game in 5 days time. Anyone swear you think this website is for you and you alone, you're now even dishing out your own rules 🤦🏻‍♂🤦🏻‍♂🤦🏻‍♂.

24.) 18 Oct 2017 09:17:30
Knuckles, Jayden is right to bring up the Spurs game cos that is the next and most important game of the season right now. Hopefully, we can play well in that game and get the 3 points.

15 Oct 2017 14:00:30
Ed01 about these player or former player articles you are doing is it possible you could do one on gabriel batistuta one of my favourite players and am sure a read once that you held in high regards to.

knuckles

{Ed001's Note - yes mate, he is on the list.}

1.) 15 Oct 2017 14:25:04
Ed01, Are you doing a profile on me 😎😎. Longest serving poster. I love compliments 😄😄😄😄.

{Ed001's Note - no one would believe it if I did.}

2.) 15 Oct 2017 14:31:11
Haha brilliant Harry.

3.) 15 Oct 2017 14:31:17
Excellent mate really looking forward to that one a player that's guts me never played in the premier league a feel he would of been a monster, would of loved him to wear the the shirt of lfc in his prime.

{Ed001's Note - he was a special player. I used to love watching him.}

4.) 15 Oct 2017 14:32:01
Or you could do one on Ed025. Proper legend! 😎😎😎😎.

{Ed001's Note - you missed out the space, leg end mate.}

5.) 15 Oct 2017 14:32:17
Hey Ed001, just reading Harry’s suggestion then and it gave me an idea.
How about a little piece on the history of the site? How it started, how all the Ed’s came to be involved, longest serving posters, top posters like macca, most memorable posts, most stressful times, biggest scoops, how the site has grown (how the hits to the site have increased etc)
I mean I know most of the answers already from numerous posts over the years but would be nice to see it all in one article.

{Ed001's Note - I have added that to the list.}

6.) 15 Oct 2017 14:34:53
Change your username and Ed01 will do it.

7.) 15 Oct 2017 14:36:29
a complete guide to harry's user names should be the title.

{Ed001's Note - that list would be a longgggggg list.}

8.) 15 Oct 2017 14:45:32
One hell of idea that mikey another one to look forward to that is.

9.) 15 Oct 2017 15:57:02
We all have those players that we view differently through the nostalgia glasses as being some of the best, which of the players today do the eds think are as special as the likes of batistuta?

{Ed001's Note - Lewandowski probably is the only one. Maybe Kane could become that kind of level.}

10.) 15 Oct 2017 17:03:12
😂 "List"? Sounds more like an encyclopaedia.
Good luck with it ed👍.

11.) 15 Oct 2017 18:44:43
id love that. batigol still is my all time favourite player.

12.) 15 Oct 2017 19:50:34
What about an article explaining which ed has gone to most extreme length of maintaining their sanity? Or the flip side which ed has gone the craziest?

13.) 16 Oct 2017 02:30:31
The real Ronoldo (not the current one) would be a good one Ed,

Especially if it could clarify about the health issues that apparently caused his weight gain,

What a footballer when in his prime,

{Ed001's Note - I will try and do what I can, but not sure what I could confirm on his weight. A friend of my mam's was working for Nike at the time of the World Cup (which was great as I had all the training kits etc that were never released from the national teams straight out of their allotment of kits!) and she did say a few things. However it was a long time ago and I am not sure if me ma kept in touch with her so I can speak to her and clarify what she knew.}

24 Sep 2017 13:20:19
Ed01 just out of curiosity what would you think of matip moving to a dm, by that a mean with him good on the ball the passing side shouldn't be a problem and he wouldn't be last line of defence, or do you think he would be out he dept?

knuckles

{Ed001's Note - he is far too sluggish working back to play in an area of the pitch that requires much more running than the centre of defence. Not a good idea for me. He would be overrun there.}

1.) 24 Sep 2017 13:36:00
Also not aware enough to play Dm for me knuckles. You never see matip looking around him off the ball.

2.) 24 Sep 2017 13:39:25
Yeah a hear you ed01 mate, do u have a prefered option on who you think we should be looking at for dm?

{Ed001's Note - I just answered this on the thread for the match review mate.}

3.) 24 Sep 2017 13:50:37
Lots of people seem to think that if a CB is good on the ball but not great defensively they should move I to midfield.

At DM you need to be good on the ball and great defensively and generally work a lot harder.

It's the reason that John Stones isn't a DM or Phil Jones. They aren't DMs they are just poor defenders.

4.) 24 Sep 2017 14:08:18
Matip used to be a dcm reddawn.

5.) 24 Sep 2017 14:09:01
Why don't you go and buy one in January? Till then play Can there!

6.) 24 Sep 2017 14:12:03
Seen it ed01 cheers, agree superred like a say it was just curiosity incase anybody thought he would be capable of stepping up pal.
Dawn curiosity on think mate two diffrent options fella. Not sure about stones but didn't man u try jones in that position mate?

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate and Jones played DM a lot before United bought him and played well there. There is nothing wrong with the lad as a player, he is a good defender, just loses his head every so often and goes into rash challenges. Worst thing is, from his point of view, is that he always ends up picking up an injury doing so.}

7.) 24 Sep 2017 14:28:45
Harry i don't have that kind of money to just go buy a dm mate, sorry pal.

8.) 24 Sep 2017 18:23:52
What about a DF knuckles? 😉.

9.) 24 Sep 2017 19:17:26
A have got enough for a sunday dinner ron mate and with my credit score they wouldn't give me a pot noddle on tick so am busted mate ha.

10.) 24 Sep 2017 20:49:56
Superred i didn't know matip used to play there pal, but that alone probably answers my question he mustn't of done well in that position.

15 Feb 2016 22:33:57
We all know and hope that next season under jurgen will be the start of something good and exciting. Although we all have different opinions on who should leave and who should be brought in. ad like to get a debate and other people's opinions to see where what near may bring So heres mine.
Enrique well enough said (bye)
Toure probably of to china
Sorted thanks for your efforts and time, but it's time he moved on
Moreno, I don't think he is good enough or what we need to move forward.
Miss enough is enough we need a better keeper some one that commands his area and can be a leader from the back.
Milner wages to high and offers us nothing as we have a simlar player in hendo.
Joe Allan it just hasn't worked out.
Lallana luxury we don't need.
Benteke just not good enough.
Bogdan say know more.
Balo, Marko, Alberto, wisdom, yesil. All sold on.
Klopp will decide on tex but looks like he will move on.
That's 17players sold or let go of our wage bill.

knuckles

1.) 15 Feb 2016 22:58:44
Sent that with out finishing by mistake.
Anyway if we get a new keeper, Marko comes in, another mid, left winger and maybe a striker that will leave us with keepers new, ward, cbs, matip, lovern, shako, ilori, and Gomez for cover. Fbs, clyne, flanno, smith, Gomes. Dm. Lucas, stewert. Mids, hendo, grujic, New mid, can. At kids, couts, firming, ibe, and new left winger. Strikers inngs, sturridge, origi, New striker our good young lads can cover for injuries and fixture pile up.

2.) 15 Feb 2016 23:16:42
Personal opinion, a few different ideas:
Kolo is off but it will be a shame as I think he's a real leader in the dressing room. Lucas is going to be crucial next season.
I wouldn't sell Markovic, he is a very strong, quick, direct player (exactly what we need IMO), so long as he has an appetite to play for us again.
I think Caulker will go too.
I think Mignolet's contract extension means he's staying.
Klopp has a history of playing younger players as they have the fitness and energy to maintain their standards and strive to improve.
My Streamlined Squad after ruthless cull :

Ward Mignolet

Clyne Flanno Smith Moreno Gomez Matip Sakho Lovren Skrtel Ilori

Lucas Can Hendo Grujic Brannigan Stewart Texeira Markovic Ibe Ojo Coutinho

Sturridge, Firmino, Origi, Ings.

(Waiting in the wings: Randall, Canos, Kent)

3.) 15 Feb 2016 23:17:44
Arrggghhh hate predictive texting.

4.) 15 Feb 2016 23:29:05
Mate it has changed sum of my words a never meant what will happen, it's worth was meant as what would you do but realistically mate.

5.) 15 Feb 2016 23:38:40
Yeah I know knuckles:
That's what I'd do, a ruthless cull and see what these youngsters can do. I don't think we're that far off when everyone is fit and I think Matip will be a great addition:
He's quick and lanky and can play the ball out of defence. Alongside Lovren or Sakho he will make a good partnership.
I'd love to see Ings and Markovic playing in a Klopp team, they'd fit in well.

6.) 16 Feb 2016 00:04:28
Balo, Wisdom, Alberto, Enrique, Sinclair, Allen, Bogdan, Yesil, McClaughlin and Toure are all likely to leave in my view

Matip, Grujic and a winger/ wide attacking mid are likely to join, hopefully Markovic returns and stays too

Debatable if Migs is sold for a new keeper (I certainly hope so) and if Benteke can find form in next 3 months (otherwise may be sold if we get a good offer)

7.) 16 Feb 2016 00:06:23
Yeah agree with you mate one thing is for sure we need to of load a lot of players in the summer. Like you say klopp likes to use the youth and we have some great young lads at the club, so in order for them to play a can see maybe as many as 15 players leaving the club.
One thing that is certain we will defo see a different and better quality lfc next season.

8.) 16 Feb 2016 01:23:52
In your ruthless cull does everyone really think Benteke needs to go. I feel he should be given one more window. If he can't hack it then then off in January of 2017.

9.) 16 Feb 2016 01:46:00
Rossiter?

10.) 16 Feb 2016 04:05:39
I think that his contract runs out at the end of the season, although i'm not sure. I would say that kevin stewart has gone in front of him and the signing of grujic will only make it more difficult for him. he may have to leave to get regular 1st team football. this is the type of decision facing klopp this summer.

{Ed001's Note - he has not progressed much either, which is why his contract was run down. That is not totally his fault, but he does need to leave for his own sake.}

11.) 16 Feb 2016 06:28:37
That makes me wonder, Y did we loan Caulker? Strange by the club.

{Ed001's Note - because Inglethorpe recommended him, but he was thinking of the kid he worked with, rather than the lump he became.}

12.) 16 Feb 2016 07:12:31
Rossiter leaving would be a real shame as its really down to unfortunate injury timing. I'd still keep him personally as I see him as a strong and combatitive option in midfield, I'd just look for a loan in the championship for him next year and see how Grujic and Stewart pan out.

13.) 16 Feb 2016 09:38:05
Hello everyone,
I believe the team needs 4 additions
1)A new Goalkeeper ahead of Mignolet, from the German Market
2)A left back, upgrade to Moreno
3)A defensive midfielder
4)and finally a versatile attacking player, like Sane of Shalke
and I believe we will be title contenders for the next season.

14.) 16 Feb 2016 11:22:10
Looking at this chain we're a disagreeable bunch of b@stards sometimes!

15.) 16 Feb 2016 11:49:43
Think am the only one who believes we don't need a dm lucas to teach the kids to be ruthless and brave and Stewart or whoever else has more pace and energy to learn and get about also Emre showed glimpses of being good there against villa yes villa I know but maybe he will settle as a dm who can burst forward.

16.) 16 Feb 2016 13:08:22
I agree stewart looks perfect for the role and should be given the chance to compete with Lucas. We need a keeper, left back and a wide player.

Ed025 a think silva would be perfect to replace koeman, infact the board at everton should go all out to get him. he is probs the best about at the moment and would more than likely jump st the chance. Like you say koeman is on borrowed time and is useless so for the fans of the toffee's i hope you get him then maybe our derby games might become a contest agen rather than the walk overs we have had of late.

knuckles

{Ed025's Note - i would take him in a heartbeat knuckles..

Ed025 everton clearly have a good first 11 players and should be a decent side, its just koeman's tactics in my opinion.
Which leads me to thinking whythe hell he would be lined up for future Barcelona manager when they clearly are an offensive team and koemans tactics are defend defend defend.

knuckles

{Ed025's Note - he has more chance of managing barnet than barca knuckles, he does not meet their demographic mate..
