Why is there reluctance from Klopp to just keep Nat Philips as the 3rd centre half option? Any other centre half whom we buy from outside will be similar to him in quality or slightly better and will cost a lot of money. We can use that money elsewhere. Nat did a good enough job whenever he was called for.

I think Phillips is more 5th choice centre half mate.

Got Vvd, Konate, Gomez and Quansah all ahead of him.

Plenty of fans think Phillips should be starting for us week in week out but Klopp clearly doesn’t see it that way and neither did Celtic.

Nat’s had his moments with us but it’s clear we like to over praise some of our players abilities. I remember it was said Origi would score 15 league goals at any other premier league club. Forest scouts must have read that post and took the bait and now he’s their highest paid player.

The way we play doesn't suit him.

Nat Phillips is a decent player and nothing more he can do a job and fill in where needed . I like the way the club are doing things by recalling players from loans and padding the squad with them while we wait on the 1st teamers to return from injury or competitions .

I’d keep carvalho around for a few more weeks also and make decisions on loans at the end of the month.

{Ed002's Note - It doesn't work like that.}

OP, Quansah is ahead of him now so if you have Matip fit let's say, he is 6th choice right now. Some like me say he should be allowed to leave but as many have said for someone who does not play at all, he is on pretty good wages and he seems not to be that arsed about it, tbh.

Remember, he would not have had a prem career to beging with had that devastaing injury crisis not happened to our CB's in the 20/ 21 season where he was supposed to be off to Uni in the States. So it is what it is and no need losing too much sleep about it, I reckon. I stopped doing that a while ago.

Got laughed out by pundits on the page that this will come back to the same circus. Philips and Williams while Arsenal splashing money on Inacio ????.

Harry, from my understanding, Phillips' loan was only for the f first half of the season, meaning that his loan contract ended. He wasn't recalled. As for Williams, he was recalled because he was playing 0 minutes on loan.

I don't think that those two were recalled because Klopp felt that they could provide cover for the second half of the season. The comparisons to Arsenal's Ignacio bid is irrelevant.

You have to be careful with loan players, because they can't play for us if you want to loan them to a different club other than there original loan as they can't register for 3 clubs in a season.

Aye Harry, cos we could've sold Williams and Phillips for £20m each to buy Inacio.

What was that Ed002 called you again? A mindless cretin?

So Arsenal are in for a player we don't want.
What exactly is there to see there?
Meanwhile Liverpool are top of the table while Arsenal are slipping down it - yet winning the transfer window is more important.
Some minds work in really strange ways.

Go and support Arsenal then, like you did City for a little while before you got lonely.
Your constant need to poke jibes at Liverpool for not buying players is properly tedious, bordering on embarrassing.

As I understand it Arsenal’s bid for Inacio is not high enough anyway. Also why are they bidding for a CB in the first place when it’s clear for everyone to see that their problem is scoring goals?

Surely they should be splashing any money they have on a goalscorer?

They got lucky in the first half of last season when Odegaard, Saka and Martinelli were chipping in but they have all been found out now. Saka always comes inside, Martinelli always goes outside and Odegaard needs space outside the box. Stop those 3 things and you stop Arsenal.

I’m not sure Ivan Toney is the answer either. He’s a prime example of a player whose stock his risen because he’s not playing. The myth of Toney is far better than the actual player.

Who cares what arsenal do or don’t do. Living life in the shadow of other clubs actions is a loser way to live.

Faith, clearly Harry does. he seems to care about what other teams do whenever the club he claims to support doesn't do what he wants. Literally who he is and what he does.

OP, I think it stems from the fact that Nat (and Rhys) aren’t quite top grade PL players. In the obvious assessment by the club neither of the players has what it takes to perform consistently well at the elite level. it doesn’t make them bad players but it does mean that they aren’t the right fit for what we want. Basically, that’s always going to happen within the game and not just at Liverpool.
