Great take on the match ed1

Your take on gravenberch likened to wilshere was interesting. Gravenberch is a player that when I watch him more and more I don’t know what he is . I’m certain he sees himself as a 10 but if he can add concentration and more determination in his defensive work he could be a great player for us . Needs time and work with the coaches if he’s going to be a regular . Jones for me has that left midfield spot nailed down for now .

{Ed001's Note - what is potentially great about him? I just don't see it.}

Once again Ed, great read.

As you probably know I would sell Gravenberch as soon as possible.

My god, the tracking back in this game in particular was horrendous. He is getting worse I think. There's a player about 2 metres in front of him and he still can't be bothered to pick him up. He just leaves players in really dangerous positions. Against better teams that's absolutely lethal. This guy will absolutely cost us points if Klopp insists on playing him. I'm afraid that it was Klopp who vouched for him and wants to be proved right.

The most scary thing for me is he has already had his wake up call at Bayern where they never played him. He must have been told he needs to work harder.

There's no way Klopp hasn't been using all his man management skills to get the same point across. And somehow he is getting lazier.

I think he is just a bad egg. There's talent there but not elite technical ability some would have you think. Like you said his technical ability needs work. That part doesn't bother me though as hf is young.

It's the sheer Laziness. I bet his mom still does his washing and cleans his house. I don't think he is ever going to get it.

He is young but the wake up calls have been had. He needs to drop down a few levels to learn humility. He might be a decent player someday but we won't be missing out on anything elite in my view.

I think one way to improve the squad in January is to sell him. We don't even need to buy anyone to replace him. Done. Squad improved.

{Ed001's Note - I have to say I just get Keita vibes from him.}

I said many times Gravenberch will drive us to the grave.

He just can’t be as bad as keita . Keita was a special type of not arsed

It’s only early in his Liverpool career I’m hoping he’s just taking time to get up to speed I just think it’s too early to write him off.

I think Kieta was better DHFC.

I would compare Grav to Balotelli myself. Grav is easily one of the most annoying players I ve ever had to watch in a Liverpool shirt. Less nut case than Balotelli but similar effort levels.

I just pray he passes properly everytime he gets the ball.

Great analysis Ed001,it seems to me that I could be wrong but some of the games we play looks a lot like Klopp is using his own tactics, although saying that Ed, when we play bad I’m sure nearly every poster on here would blame Lijnders, in your opinion are Liverpool still playing the Lijnders tactics and it’s slowly working or have we reverted back to Klopp’s style of football.

{Ed001's Note - I think it is a mix of both their ideas.}

Thanks for the review, ED. I always eagerly await your reviews.

I am keeping my hopes up for Gravenberch. I haven't given up on him just yet. I saw glimpses of promise in a few matches at the start of the season. Hopefully, he possesses the right attitude and will grow into his role. We've shown years of patience with Jones, and now he's demonstrating his capabilities. VVD, Trent, and Gomez also seemed reluctant in many 50-50 tackles last season (or previously when they weren't at 100%) . I am hoping Klopp can address this issue. However, I agree that there’s nothing more frustrating than seeing players who are fearful of tackles.

At least now they have a role model in Endo, who doesn't care death when he goes for a 50-50 ball. I just love the lad's attitude.

Endo is warrior. If Grav could bottle 50 percent of Endo's heart then he has the talent to become a really good player. I don't think he has it in him though.

Nice read Ed! Have to say, this is a bad crop of promoted sides this year. The quality is questionable, but the tactics are even worse
It’s showing how good Fulham and Bournemouth are.
They can play, but they are hard to beat also which is paramount for a promoted side.

Everyone knows Liverpools weakness is crosses to the back post exploit Trent, the old Burnley way ?
If you pass it around the back, we’ll set the traps and we’ll get you. We’ve been the best at that for 5/ 6 years now everyone knows that including Vincent

One way ticket back to the championship for these 3 sides imo. Due to bad tactics and naivety.

{Ed001's Note - they are the worst trio I can remember. It is the first time none of them have looked good enough to survive.}

I think Gravenberch is getting abit of harsh stick from you guys here. I don't think we needed to sign him but he's here now and from what I've seen he does have talent. He's particularly good at running with the ball and breaking the lines by dribbling through midfield. That's a really useful talent to have. He needs to work on his final forward pass and to work abit harder/ smarter out of possession but I really don't think he's anywhere near as far off or bad as some of you are making out and I don't think he had a bad game.

Okay, Gravenberch has not been consistently very good, but there's no way you can compare him to Keita. I've seen Gravenberch press and go into hard tackles, that I never saw Keita even attempt in 5 years.

I'll go with the classic "he's only 21, there's got to to be improvement and development" and Klopp needs more time to mold him into the kind of player he wants.

Endo - another in a string of impressive performances from the Japanese midfielder. He may not be the quickest player across the ground, but he is clever and gets himself positioned well to interfere with the opposition when they try and attack. He is like that really annoying fly that constantly buzzes round you whenever you try and relax. Even when he is not actually stopping you, he is putting you off and taking your focus away by being there niggling away

Just about sums him up perfectly. Great read, Ed and Happy 2024 to you and yours.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Oli HNY to you and everyone else on here.}

I am quite enjoying Gravenberch. I think he's just not 100% settled in yet. There's a decent player in there.
Once he settles I can see him becoming very good for us. Dudes got a few tricks and can definitely add a assists to his game.

None of them look good enough to survive? I actually think Luton will at the expense of another. They have some heart and team spirit for certain.

And I actually think Gravenberch ain’t all that bad.
