Good read Ed001.

the best we can hope for out of this is that it further hardens the teams resolve because I don't believe that the referees and use if var are going to improve to the necessary standard anytime soon.

seems the audio being released throws up even more questions.

I was more proud of the team on Saturday than I have been after some victories.

Brilliant review Ed. I can't understand people ruling out cheating corruption on the base of the audio. I think it's all highly suspect. The incompetence level is simply too high. And even if the incompetence level was that high the answer to the problem is still the same. They must be sacked.

Excellent read. It was a difficult piece to write. Don’t forget there is a slight tug on Jones which causes him to be a fraction late to the 50/ 50. This should also be shown on VAR.

Ed001, do you really believe that England was caught out cheating and why?
And is the fact that everybody involved in the English game is not clean justification for inferring that we were cheated at the weekend?
You're making these claims and encouraging others to think the same.
Are you allowed to do this?

{Ed001's Note - make up your own mind, or wait until someone tells you what to think, because clearly you are just wasting my time now. Troll someone else.}

Ed001, you don't have to explain your unfounded claims. You can ignore me and let posters make up their own minds by continuing to make claims about corruption at the weekend.
Can you answer me one question before you ignore though, please? Are you to accountable to anyone on here? Can you post what you want or are you vetted? I wouldn't like to see you or the site get into any sort of trouble for some of the claims that are made.

{Ed001's Note - what claims? You really aren't understanding anything you read are you? You are embarrassing yourself with your lack of comprehension. There is not one claim in there at all. I have never made any claims or allegations, your the one making them.}

Rigsby personally, nobody is encouraging me to believe a damn thing. I have my eyes and can read and know the history of match fixing having happened not just in England or in Europe BUT in the PL itself in the early to mid 90's. You are free to believe whatever you want BUT stop telling people they are wrong or spreading disinformation just cos they don't agree with your take. It's getting boring now.

@Ed01, lovely read and I know that was tough to write esp. after the absolute dumpster fire of an audio we just heard where NOBODY seems to know what was going on and the VAR England was so out of his depth and panicky, I felt sorry for him. Not really. England unilaterally refused to stop the game (despite the "Oli" guy who btw, is a PGMOL employee and the specialist of the VAR technology) pulling rank on him to STOP the game cos he knew he was in deep doo doo so he hid behind the "protocol" of being unable to stop the game cos it had restarted and that is NONSENSE. Don't ask me about the assistant VAR cos he seemed to be on something.

As for the team, we played well and could have scored easily 3 goals and actually won the game had the ref (who had lost his head completely) kept pulling play back for a free kick when on the counter. Funny how that did not happen for Spurs. We move on.

{Ed001's Note - what this does show is that the audio should be on a live feed so that we all hear it as it happens.}

Great review Ed, my one comment would be do you think Trent was at fault - in the dying minutes he gambled on trying to put pressure on a player he was never going to make and left a huge hole behind him which ultimately led to the goal.

Appreciate he’s only just back from injury and it’s being picky but at the time I was thinking he was too high for a team of 9 trying to hold a draw.

Brilliant review ed1. Thanks for that. Not sure how you managed to watch it through a second time without throwing the screen out the window. Skeptical me thinks nothing will happen. I just hope we go on the run of all runs in spite of it.

It’s time that the officials interactions can be heard much in the same way as in Rugby union.
I never thought I would ever think that a game at this level, in this league, could be decided by a combination of corrupt and completely ineffectual officials.
It’s bewildering.

Just to add as well, the PGMOL statement that the VAR and AVAR had wrongly thought that the goal was given by the on-field referee has been shown to be a complete lie. The audio clearly states that both of them agreed with the offside decision by the on-field referee, hence why the goal was disallowed. It was only when the operator pointed out that the frame they sent in was onside that they started to panic. The whole situation definitely stinks for me and I hope that the club presses this issue and demand the PGMOL to explain their initial statement.

TSR, I'm sure this isn't the purpose of your post that but it does sound like you are nit-picking a very small portion of the play in an attempt to blame TAA for the goal. It was an unfortunate circumstance, one that we did not deserve happen to us. Let's just leave it at that.

Thanks for the review Ed, top notch as usual. In the video, did you hear when Diaz was through on goal, the VAR (I would think Darren England then) said “possible offside, Diaz”.

Diaz scores, lino then said “coming back to the offside/ what about the offside? ” or something to that effect.

My issues are:

1. By VAR saying on the mic “possible offside, Player X”, wouldn’t that create a bias in the lino’s determination of what transpired? Is that what they do even, interfering before the on field team make a decision? That’s not right.

2. That audio throws away the idea (based on PGMOL statement yesterday/ the day before) that VAR thought the on field team decided it was a goal and VAR “confirmed that decision”. The audio shows that VAR was well aware that the on field decision was not a goal. In fact, relating to point 1, he kinda planted that idea with his possible offside comment.

If that england guy wasnt cheating he wouldn't be needing the operator guy to tell him they didn't give the goal. he would have noticed it by himself that they didn't do what he meant. common sense.

Ed001, don't ever stop giving your opinion on things. Your articles and opinions are a massive part of this site.

Rigsby, what is it about the audio that gives you comfort that it was a mistake? For me I'm far more suspicious after the audio. They said it was offside. And despite multiple efforts to stop it, they let the game continue. Let's be frank here, it was an absolutely simple decision. As easy as it gets. And that audio makes you think that's how a professional can mess up. I say it again. It is almost impossible to mess up as badly as they did. Anyone, absolutely anyone with a vague knowledge of the game would not mess up to that degree. I personally believe they cheated. You might believe they are completely and utterly incompetent. Either way the point is moot as there is only one course of action. Fully remove them from the game. They cannot be trusted.

If they are reinstated I will be taking a break from football. This one is too much for me personally. I won't believe I'm watching a fair game anymore. I ve been enjoying the rugby a lot lately. Going to switch more attention to that.

{Ed001's Note - thank you Davey. I think Rigsby is just a troll. He said he didn't know what my views were and I needed to spell them out for him but also said they were extreme. How can he consider my views extreme if he doesn't know what they are? He says I made allegations and claims but if I had done that surely that would have explained to him my views? I would just like to point out that all I did was explain how it would be possible to engineer match fixing via VAR. If his conclusion is that it seems like I am accusing the PGMOL of doing so, then I would suggest it is his own conclusion based on him deciding that what they did is also what match fixers would do.}

Great match review Ed 1.
To add fuel to the fire Udogie when on a yellow asked for Jota to be booked which is supposed to be a bookable offence but of course he doesn’t get booked (and therefore isn’t sent off when he should have been) .
I can’t remember a game where the officiating is so bad in favour of one team or another.

{Ed001's Note - I just couldn't list all the missed Spurs bookings for throwing/kicking the ball away or calling for cards as it would have taken another few days. Maddison should have been booked at least 3 times on that basis, Udogie and Romero would also have picked up a couple just off the top of my head.}

16.) 04 Oct 2023
04 Oct 2023 12:10:12
And then there’s the van der ven challenge on Gomez which looked like a penalty.
I suppose reason for mentioning the udogie one is that there’s no subjectivity there. It’s a bookable offence and he has to go.
We looked more dangerous than spurs with 10 v 11 and you’d think we’d fare better with 9v10 than 9v11 if the ref sends off udogie for his second yellow card offence of the game.
I’m tempted to watch the game through again and make a note of all of these game changing decisions.
Irony is all the focus is now on VAR and the awful performance of the ref himself has been overlooked.

It seems the rules only seem to be applied to the letter of the law when LFC players are concerend BUT to the other teams like Newcastle and Spurs? Nope, can't do that.

But hey Ed01, don't mind me. Maybe I should just ignore what Im seeing and witnessing and hope one day, I catch someone in a dark alley slipping a brown paper bag to Darren England or whoever cos clearly if I don't witness that, everything is just an honest mistake.

{Ed001's Note - even then you need to have filmed it and have multiple witnesses to the event for it to count.}

Forgot about that, Ed01. I would also need to make a clean getaway in order for me to post it on the internet or present it to the authorities.

{Ed001's Note - could be a tough ask.}

Tough game to review, I’m sure. I can’t imagine having to watch it again. I’ve been on a downer for days, not just for liverpool, but for football after that.

After watching/ listening to the clip multiple times it really does sound like an innocuous mistake. However, you get to thinking. If it were a piece of fixing, then that is how you would do it. Pay lip service to protocol, using the correct lingo but in the wrong order and press the “check complete” button knowing the ref has the whistle in his mouth. Play starts, stay quiet and play dumb when questioned. Keep quiet longer as play continues then as more people get involved, feign annoyance at your mistake and make no attempt and in fact nullify any attempts to intervene, even when a throw in presents time to pause and assess.

Should actually have been Hooper’s decision to bring it back, not VAR at that point being the match official.

Do you know or think, ed, that this will be swept under the carpet as per usual and now be the end of it? Or, will more than just tweaks to protocol happen?

This needs proper investigation IMO, not just the view that several high profile pundits and managers etc have taken, that this is just another mistake.

{Ed001's Note - it really comes down to whether other teams will support Liverpool and also push for change. If enough back those calls they will have to act as PGMOL is part owned by the teams, in essence, as stakeholders in the EPL and EFL.}

Ed01, with the absolute saltiness of many in the rival fan base and the tribalism ravaging PL fanbases since we dared to challenge the status quo, I doubt many clubs wil join together with us to push for change.

{Ed001's Note - I know but we can hope.}

Fantastic that Ed1 mate, absolutely spot on. Thank you for taking your time out and doing it, I don't know how you had the patience to write it mate because I'd of been fuming typing it up lol.

The whole lot of it is just a mess and what I find equally as frustrating is, the chances of change happening are slim to none. If that wasn't us being cheated out of a game by corrupt officials I don't know what is. What exactly has to happen now in a game for people to actually wake up and see things for how they are.

You know, what gets me is, this Liverpool team and the start we have had has really excited me, you know how excited and positive I can be however, after that game I just don't know anymore. I know we are capable, we look so focused and have a great team of lads who in my eyes are playing exceptionally well but with these officials how can we be positive about the season ahead? I'm more concerned, we've already had three points taken away when we all know we would've won that game had it been a fair one.

It really get's on my nerves because this isn't the only time it'll happen, we're going to see more of it because too many people sit in the shadows not saying anything, more people need to be challenging it, more teams.

I'm not the brightest spark in the plug mate but there's no doubt in my mind that there's a lot of corruption going on, one of these days it'll all come out and heads will roll, until then apparently we have to just get on with it.

Hope life is treating you well Ed mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers Salah, always good to see you about. I hope all is well for both of you.}
