I've been really impressed with pretty much all of our players this season but I just wanted to say a word about Curtis Jones. He seems to have totally transformed his game from inconsistent flair player to the steady eddie of the team. Mr Reliable, 7/ 10 performances week in, week out since he came back into the side last season and he's turning into a bit of a Gini Wijnaldum. It's going to be very difficult to drop him now and he's been very important for us. Some credit also to the England u21 manager who gave him a new role and allowed him to excel in some attributes I didn't even know he had. Great to see another local lad doing the business and I think he's going to be a massive part of this new era.

Midfield looks absolutely great this season so impressed with our options, and the age range so much lower now.

amazing overhaul of the midfield in one window. I am genuinely surprised. I had gone into the summer window thinking that all we needed was to tinker with the midfield and we'd be right back challenging.

Then when Hendo and Fab both left I adjusted my expectations for the season to be grateful for a top 4 finish and a trophy run. All the evidence of Klopp's reign so far is that new midfielders would take time to adjust and then I thought it'd be even more difficult for the newbies to come in and have to step in and fill the exprience / leadership void made bigger by losing hendo and Fab.

But full credit to all involved. We've recruited well and for the first time in Klopp's reign, have two midfielders (Macca and Szobo) who have slot straight in and contributed straight away. I think a big part is the emergening consistency of Elliot and Jones as well to keep the continuity going.

props all round to all involved.

Agreed mate I thought Jones work rate and energy was excellent against West Ham. Thought he was injured at one point and could see his frustration, he was dying to get back on and when he did he immediately hunted the ball down and started a counter attack. Fair play to him I’ve been one of his doubters but he’s proving me wrong, if he can show he can stay for the season he looks like an upgrade on gini.

I agree mate. I admit I wasn’t a big fan of Curtis Jones’s last season. But this season he looks different. He actually looks like he belongs and that midfield and long may it continue.

In my opinion, Jones needs one more facet to his game to become a world class player and England starter: extra physicality. If he can improve his fuel-winning and ability to regain possession, he’s got everything. The physicality should come with age anyway.
Partnered with Szoboszlai, he can be the one who breaks into the box to score while the latter has the devastating quality to create more effectively and shoot from long distance. (Very) early days, but Gundogan and De Bruyne destroyed the league for years doing it.

Jones has certainly got the size, he's an impressive specimen, shot up in the past couple of seasons.
Like everyone else, it's so pleasing to see him prosper consistently, so far at least anyway.
He's gave tantalising glimpses of his talent in the past, but if he can keep it going, he will honestly be like a new signing.
The more Scousers in the team, the better.

Jones played well for about two games and people talking about him as being world class ??.
Hopefully he will have a steady career with us, but world class never.

{Ed001's Note - 2 games? Neggy come on don't be an arse. He had an excellent end to last season, starred for England U21s in the summer as they won the Euros and then has carried on this season in even better form. That is a lot more than 2 games.}
