Hi,

Question for ED001. With Mo Salah is now 31 years old, and probably have few years left at his peak level. Who would be your pick to replace him in the future? Do you see any potential replacement that can potentially get close to his level?

Interested to hear from others as well. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - well if we haven't just signed his long-term replacement, then I have no idea. Though there is always Doak as well.}

Michael olise, patrick wimmer, Nico Williams could be potential replacements - it will be difficult to replace salah. Though I Hope doak will get a chance to get this spot.

Ed001, what do you think will happen with Elliott?

{Ed001's Note - I wouldn't consider any of those as good enough to replace Salah. I expect Elliott to develop into a midfielder.}

Ed001, I still have hope Elliott can be the long term replacement. I don't expect him to ever score 20-30 a season but he wouldn't have to if we had more goals from midfield and Nunez through the middle.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think he has the pace to end up in that position long term.}

I agree on Elliott, his lack of pace is going to be his downfall as far as a Salah replacement. With regards to an actual replacement, that’s going to be tough for anyone. Hopefully by the time Salah goes his goals are maybe distributed a bit more and any new player won’t have the burden of trying to match 30 goals every season.

With the way Mo is always in the gym looking after himself I could easily see him doing this at the highest level for 5 years.

Can see your point Ed001.

I think the other likely scenario is there may not be another Salah and we might just have to change the dynamic of the front 3 or the whole system. For example you could have Gakpo and Nunez up front and go with a midfield 4. Szoboszlai RM, Diaz LM, Mac Allister and Bajcetic in midfield.

Long term maybe Doak could play in a similar way to Salah but he's at least 5-7 years away from being able to do it to the level Salah does. Unless he turns out to be a talent of Rooney/ Owen/ Fowler proportions, ready for 50 games a season by 19 years old, which is very unlikely.

What about Kaide Gordon Ed01. I think it was Lewtas who was singing his praises and his attitude at the back end of last season.

{Ed001's Note - I don't see a player good enough at all in him. He has not impressed me when I have seen him.}

From your earlier comment ed001 are you expecting Szoboslai to play RCM (and cover/ rotate with Salah) until Salah moves on and then move to first choice RW?

If so do you see Elliott being coached with an aim for him to be first choice RCM?

I appreciate things will evolve and adapt during this period, but in loose terms do you see this being the aim?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - yeah pretty much yes.}

Have to agree.

Szoboszlai will be long term cover/ replacement for SALAH and also will be a starter in the 11 alongside Salah.

Eliott, I am sure will have a good future as a midfielder. He will kind of develop into Silva type / positiion (David) .

Jones - I am not at all sure what he will trun into. I'd say there are more open questions on Jones than Eliott.

So you think szob is capable of getting anywhere near salahs figures?
Elliot is a lovely lad and very good for his age. but as a midfielder I'd say not. He needs either the salah spot or the bobby role or for me he will drift slowly away from the squad. Hope I'm wrong, he was superb the other day for England u21.
As for Jones. sadly I think he should be sold unless he is fit all season this time around.

I like that olise but feel he needs to move to a big club now and take the next step otherwise he will just be the next zaha.
