Agree with this totally, when we're on the ball Nunez' only thought should be getting on the end of stuff, in ways I think he should be less involved in the game.

Look at Haaland, sometimes he barely touches the ball but he spends the entire game on the shoulder stretching defences. Haaland can't dribble to save his life either, in fact I'd go as far as to say he looks clumsy when doing anything other than shooting. But does it matter? Not in the slightest, he's scored 50+ goals already and City would not be about to win the treble without him.

I don't know if Nunez can get 50+, but I certainly think he's capable of getting 30-35.

Great read re Nunez, I will add another point tho, which is just my opinion, he’s Uruguayan, play’s as pointed out with emotion.

He’s joined a club that a Uruguayan hero played for, that as we know is Suarez, imo I think this is a motivating factor for him and maybe a cross to bear for him too.

A solid pre season which wasn’t available last year, the frontline is a few months further down the understanding route regarding Gapko and Diaz now back training and playing, this gives me positives regarding seeing the better of Nunez in the coming season.

Excellent article Davey, and we all appreciate the disclaimer.

I whole heartedly agree. Often we have got excited about players who are missing that x-factor. Nunez isn't one of them.

When he clicks, he is completely devastating.

We just need to build his confidence, and he needs to improve his English, so that he can reach the consistency that others, like Haaland, already have.

Nice one, Davey.

I am hopeful Darwin finds his feet next season with a fitter and better drilled team behind him.

I still don't see how he fits Klopps forward line. Gakpo and Bobby before him could drop deep adding another presser into the midfield and then provide quality link up play. Nunez has never shown those abilities. His strength is running into space, but how many teams are willing to oblige him that?

Good player perhaps (not convinced by that tbh) but the wrong player for us.

Great one, Davey. I full agree with everything you have said and Klopp needs to go earn his wages and unlock this kid's immense talent cos he has all the physical tools to be a top CF or forward overall. Also, Darwin is who Klopp wanted and we got him his man so he needs to make it work.

Also, the whole pressing thing is essential BUT he is not here long enuff to master it (cos it's not that simple) so he needs time to get to grips with how we press up top. That will come with time. Gakpo on the other hand is getting there so at least we don't lose that with him when he plays.

As for who leads the line btw Darwin and Gakpo? Im not too fussed about that really cos you want to have two players who offer different attributes while at the same time, both players showing they can play together as we saw when Darwin both tormented Utd when they got Seven-Hagged at Anfield. Im really excited for both players, overall.

I think both sides need to make some adjustments threeps. Both management in terms of tactics and Nunez himself. If they meet in a happy middle, we could find something better than before.

It’s a nice problem to have Gakpo or Nunez. I prefer Nunez but as stated he is a work in progress and £80m is an awful lot of money, especially for us. Hopefully they are both successful for us and if Liverpool are to challenge I assume they will need 35 league goals between them.

We could at least get him his own song - that Hound Dog one is a bit crap.
