Well written mate. I understand your points but totally disagree on Firmino. Nunez was imo bought to be a first choice cf. He is the first choice well ahead of Firmino. I have high hopes for Nunez and think he could be the star of this team.

Gakpo, I have no idea where he will fit in. As posters have said he just isn’t a Liverpool winger and he’s not going to play instead of Nunez. Fingers crossed for him, I am sure the club must have a long term plan for the lad.

Good article, Gakpo I haven't seen enough of yet to picture what he is really going to be like as a Liverpool player

As for Darwin Nunez, I have absolutely no concerns over him whatsoever. Not a single defence has succeeded in keeping him quiet this season which is rare for almost any striker - even the best ones in the world. Factor in the poor service he's had this season and that is even more impressive.

His finishing has been erratic, sometimes hopeless in all honesty. But it's clearly more down to confidence than a lack of ability. He's proved at Benfica that he's a capable finisher, against us last season his finishing looked outstanding. Particularly in the 2nd leg when he had another really nice one ruled out for offside

When he gets his head right (which he will), he's going to explode. I think there is so much attention on him from neutrals because there is a bit of fear, he's not just someone who can get 20-30 goals a season - he's a guy who could be looking at 40-50.

Puts a big shift in defensively too, constantly sprinting back to win tackles and defend crosses - so he'll have earned himself some more time and patience from the lads and the manager by doing that. I think next season if we get the rebuild right, he'll be right up there with Haaland in terms of goals.

Great article Adam, totally agree.
As a side discussion, where do we think Darwin and Cody’s best positions are?
I personally think Darwin as an inverted LW (like Saido) and Cody in the false 9.

Great article Adam. Its a great point that with our poor form, its easy to forget that we're missing 3 key players in forward positions which undoubtedly affects our fluency in attack.

Hopefully Firmino and Jota can come back soon to take the pressure of Nunez and Gakpo.

The sh*t Andy carrol is a goal or so away from equaling Andy Carroll’s 3 year Liverpool career. Nunez will be fine.

Rome, we have to believe that Nunez Will became a top player. If he doesn’t become a world beater we will really struggle to get back to the top. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but Nunez is carrying most of my hopes for a recovery.

Mostly on point but I totally disagree with taking 12 to 18 months to settle. That's just madness. Even using the lower 12 months that will be a year and a half for Nunez. Football waits for nobody.

Great article, Adam. Really lovely read. I'm with you. Gakpo and Darwin are suffering from over the top frustration and knee jerk reactions to a frustrating season so I get all that. For me, that's just in the moment or just after games and things calm down afterwards when tie allows perspective to come in, if it is actually allowed to do so.

Also, both players are trying to do too much cos they are playing in a VERY poor performing team hence, they feel the pressure to perform immediately which is clearly NOT helping them settle in and grow hence, they snatch at chances they get and miss them like Gakpo did vs Chelsea. However the fact that Gakpo got those chances is already a good thing IMO, same with Darwin who I have no doubt he will come good in a settled team.

Lastly, you made a reference to Suarez. I will make a reference to a certain Dirk Kuyt who was absolutely killing killing it with Feyenoord before he came to us scoring goals for fun. Now we all know that Kuyt NEVER lived up to his reputation he had at Feyenoord in terms of goals YET we all loved him for the heart, sacrifice and desire he showed. Isn't that what Darwin shows now regardless of whether he scores or not? For me, support the boys and the manager cos they are doing their best having been put into a position to fail by their own management team. Just my take.

Gapko will be reincarnation of ray kennedy.

{Ed025's Note - you could be right marshy. Unfortunately you signed a player called Gakpo.. ?

I wish people would stop making excuses for Klopp he is the head of everything that happens on the pitch. Klopp can’t get the plaudits before and now we are having a crap season suddenly it’s all somebody else’s fault. I laugh at the thought of Klopp going home early switching off with his mrs and month after month hand over responsibility to others and watch the team underperform week after week and he just keeps advocating responsibility.

Klopp is either not earning his wage because he’s downed tools or it’s at least 75% his fault.

Not concerned about Nunez in the slightest. Not sure where Cody plays to be honest as not seen enough of him to comment. I certainly havnt seen anything to suggest that Diaz doesn’t come straight back in on the left when he’s back fit though, or to suggest he would be better option from the bench than Jota is. Long term Salah replacement maybe? Iv no idea but Nunez is definitely up the centre No.9 for me.
