Hi gang. Does anyone have a recommendation for a Christmas book about football for a football mad 14 year old please? Possibly a biography, or not. Thanks in advance.

Doctor Socrates, it's incredible.

Also, there's a podcast called "Socially Distant Sports Bar" where they review a new sports book every week. A list of all the books they've reviewed is on their website and there's some absolute crackers on there. Would recommend listening to the podcast too if you get time!

The miracle of Castel di Sangro, I’ve read lots of sports books/ autobiographies and this is without doubt the best in my opinion.

Provided You Don't Kiss Me by Duncan Hamilton, Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby, Magical Magyars by David Bailey, Inverting the Pyramid by Jonathan Wilson, How to be a Footballer by Peter Crouch and The Immortals by Arrigo Sacchi.

Jordan Hendersons autobiography was on the shelf when I went to the shop earlier.

Anything but Ian Rush's autobiography. Easily the worst book I've ever read. It's just as well he was a fantastic footballer.

La Roja by Jimmy Burns - the lad may not like it but you will when he gives up ?.

Brilliant Orange by D. Winner is a stunning book, especially if you like cultural underpinnings explaining aspects of life.

All-round genius: The Inknown Story of Britain’s Greatest Sportsman.

Primarily a football biography but this guy played cricket for England and Open Tennis.

A truly remarkable character. The story about him beating Charlie Chaplin at table tennis is hilarious.
