Them Panamanians love a tackle. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of one.

On the plus side, 3 yellow cards for Belgium, there's half a chance De Buyne will be suspended for our game, lol!

Reading the thread below on players from the 70s and 80s I've just read an absurd fact . Phil Neal played a game for LFC on 23 October 1976 then started the next 417 matches until late September 1983. A lot of these matches would of been played on pitches resembling ploughed fields not the bowling greens of today. So next time you hear of any player complaining of feeling tired and needing a rest just point this fact out to them.

redal

1.) 29 Mar 2022 23:35:30
417 is an exceptional amount that would require a player to never so much as stub their toe or get the flu at an inconvenient time in an 8 year period. So can only say well done to Phil on that.

But I'm certain the lads we have with good injury records could play every game in a season if required. (Whether it's the best idea if your rivals are rotating and are fresher near the end of the season is another matter)

Actually in 18/ 19, Salah, Mane, Robbo and van Dijk played nearly every game, each having 48 or more starts out of 53 games (ditto Alisson, but it's a bit different for keepers) . Add in sub appearances and the only time Salah didn't play at all that season was against Barcelona cos he was concussed. So it is possible for some modern footballers to do that without their legs falling off.

2.) 29 Mar 2022 23:49:08
Left back, right back, and I think he covered midfield and maybe even centre defence during that spell too.
As well as taking penalties.
Absolutely cracking player, that goes under the radar a bit these days.

Hi Ed’s, would it be possible to set up a just giving page for Harry Kane. I scored a last minute tap in a few weeks ago in a4-1 defeat so if Harry wants it it’s his.

redal

1.) 12 Apr 2018 12:18:52
I think Kane will regret doing this as it’s such an embarrassment. Imagine if he ties for Golden Boot or wins tiny 1.

More likely Mo will knock in a couple against Bournemouth and pull away from him even more.

The best scenario would be, if he came back too soon in his desperation for the golden boot, that he had a recurrence of his injury and finished 3rd behind Aguero.

{Ed001's Note - that would not be the best scenario at all. Finishing 3rd would, but not because of an injury. That's just nasty wishing an injury on someone.}

2.) 12 Apr 2018 12:25:52
Kane has lost all of my respect, not that I had much for him but I did have a little because of his goal scoring abilities but wishing an injury on him? that's going too far.

3.) 12 Apr 2018 12:33:21
An injury that would be if his own making Ed if he came back too soon to try and win golden boot. I never wish injury on anyone but would have no sympathy with him. I’d brevet more annoyed if he missed the World Cup because of it.

{Ed001's Note - still doesn't sit right with me hoping for that. I would rather he gave it everything, playing every minute, claiming every goal he can and still lost personally. That would be far worse for him.}

4.) 12 Apr 2018 12:34:29
There should just be one consistent rule regarding goal awards. If Kane can have that, for what most people seem to barely be able to see any touch and therefore didn’t significantly alter the direction of the ball, then there’s a whole heap of goals that need to be reclassified as own goals. It’s pretty shambolic really. I wouldn’t care all that much but I suppose in this day and age of people being able to bet on everything, it wouldn’t seem particularly fair if Kane won golden boot by 1 goal and that decision proved to be decisive. Out of interest, what used to happen in the 60’s 70’s 80’s, there’s lots of goals given to strikers now that take fairly big deflections of defenders, we’re strikers deprived of these in days gone by.

{Ed001's Note - no, the goals were always awarded to the person who shot unless they were deemed to be going wide and the defender diverted them in.}

5.) 12 Apr 2018 15:55:18
Cheers ed.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

That Ben Yedder is a really talented guy. Professional footballer and part time magician. First he scores 2 goals then makes half the crowd disappear.

T'was a sweet feeling seeing United dumped out by Sevilla. Certainly eased the pain of our loss. Wonder if any clubs are still interested in n zonzi. Looks like a decent off the bench player.

2.) 14 Mar 2018 11:15:54
Thankfully United fans that I know spent a long time telling me how easy our group was and how it was really a bit pathetic that we couldn't even beat Seville, we had no chance of progression. Kept most of those texts.

3.) 14 Mar 2018 11:23:25
It's hilarious hjinkle, even since Saturday United fans have been stupid enough to mention how we couldn't beat Seville and how they will show us how it's done. Funny now they've all crawled under their rocks, I have texted 3 united fans this morning, none of which got back in touch. I love it!

4.) 14 Mar 2018 11:33:03
I wish I knew some United fans to wind up.

The only Man U fan I've ever been mates with lives in East London, and he switched to supporting West Ham in 2013 after Moyes first season. Fans that literally sing "Glory Glory" clearly only have one thing on their mind.

Half of the Etihad probably used to be United fans.

5.) 14 Mar 2018 12:05:29
IMO Nzonzi is better than all of our current midfielders. Certainly not an off the bench player.

6.) 14 Mar 2018 12:31:33
I started thinking yesterday that I wouldn't mind too much if Man Ure got through last night. It would've meant another 2 tough competitive games for them and may have taken their eye off the Prem. Personally I don't think top 4 is nailed on for us yet - there's still loads to do and if Chelsea go out tonight v Barcelona there'll also be more focused on their remaining league games. Sorry to sound a bit pessimistic but we got to make sure we keep our grip on that top 4 spot.

7.) 14 Mar 2018 12:40:26
I’ve seen a few of them having a go at De Gea for the second goal. Seriously. What is wrong with them. He will likely win their player of the season for the 4th time.

8.) 14 Mar 2018 13:21:52
In fairness to my United friends, most have held their hands up and either said they were rubbish in both games and deserved it or Seville were much better than they realised.

Except the classic one who thinks everything was a foul and United should have had 4 penalties. There's always one ;)

9.) 14 Mar 2018 14:22:11
Well Salah as a vet once said when he had his hand up a dog's backside"You can give it but you can't take it"

10.) 14 Mar 2018 16:20:28
You're basing that on 1 fan, MK?

11.) 14 Mar 2018 16:37:06
I think that in the last few games, De Gea has looked a bit off, I think even Migs would have saved the second goal, I even think it was an O G, HA .

12.) 14 Mar 2018 17:01:29
Well yeah Sepp, as I've never met the other 3.

13.) 14 Mar 2018 17:04:12
also just heard that poor old Jose, think he has aged 10 years overnight, even mentioned Liverpool in an interview, saying that while we are in the Champions League, we are out of the FA Cup, what a plonker .

14.) 14 Mar 2018 17:31:01
You're right, reallt good banter. How far is Liverpool from where you live again?

22 Feb 2018 11:58:56
Apparently Man Utd are under investigation from UEFA for allowing 3 players to cross the halfway line at the same time.

redal

1.) 22 Feb 2018 12:52:32
United are interesting. It's a poor side with a world class keeper. Pogba is not a top class Premier league player. Mourinho gets flack for their style of play but without him they'd be outside the top 4.

2.) 22 Feb 2018 13:28:26
Really Al? They've spent something like 300m in two years on players that he selected. If their side lacks the quality to be in the top four without his special brand of bus parking and sarcasm, isn't it primarily his fault that they look so uncompetitive in every area but the keeper?

3.) 22 Feb 2018 14:29:24
Here's hoping he goes to Madrid because without him they will be properly exposed.

4.) 22 Feb 2018 14:45:41
Hjikle - that was exactly his point - without Mourinho, they'd be outside the top 4.
It is obvious to anyone with eyes that Mourinho has spent poorly at Utd, but whilst he has been overtaken by a good number of coaches he is still more than a match for any other coach outside the top 6. If he hadn't joined, they'd be further away from the top 4 than at any time since the Premier League's inception.

5.) 22 Feb 2018 15:28:17
There is no shortage of quality I am afraid big Al. Sanchez, Pogba, Martial, Rashford. However you line up they are good players. This is how Jose plays in the knockout stage of CL. It’s just the way. It won’t change no mater who he has!

6.) 22 Feb 2018 16:03:02
Agree Harry Those players you mention in the right system and the right manager say a pep or Klopp would definitely cause most team problems.

7.) 22 Feb 2018 16:33:35
Pogba, Mata, Sanchez, Lukaku, Martial, Rashford

Poor Jose, he must be so upset at not having enough attacking talent to make a real game of it.

Are we seriously suggesting that group isn’t talented enough to make top 4 in the hands of anyone other than Jose?

8.) 22 Feb 2018 21:58:16
Except for Lukaku, I think Jose has spent well at ManU. The problem is that they aren't fitting into the way he likes his teams to play. Some compromises are going to have to be made for them to start working as a team. For example, Jose has shown he can change (witness Luke Shaw), will he be willing to compromise some of his beliefs about how midfielders should play to get the best out of Pogba.

Will Pogba be wiling to learn (as he he does have a lot to learn particularly about defensive responsibilities and bringing his teammates into the game) or will he insist on continuing to play the same way that made him rated one of the worlds best.
Remember he inherited a team that was aging and needed a comprehensive overhaul. He is still some way from that (eg they are weak out wide) but they are getting there.

9.) 23 Feb 2018 07:03:26
If none of the signings fit the system he wishes to play then by that definition they are still poor signings Phil.

10.) 23 Feb 2018 11:05:49
So Harry if that is true, are you saying that Utd have good players BUT the manager is crap cos he's the one not able to get the best of the players he has cos he either signed them or chose not to sell the ones there, right? Cos if that group is as poor as they look then the manager should be to blame, correct?

I was there at Lfc v Chesterfield 9000 attendence but it was once of the best games of the season.

2.) 23 Nov 2017 21:48:10
I love the way you can laugh about your clubs situation ed. But I suppose it beats crying.

{Ed025's Note - im all out of tears al, and swear words mate..

3.) 23 Nov 2017 22:16:37
Wow a 5-1 home defeat to Atalanta. TF is going on at that club lol.

{Ed025's Note - we are saving ourselves for a good cup run mate..

4.) 23 Nov 2017 22:32:50
I almost feel sorry for them.

{Ed025's Note - thats just a blatant lie den..

5.) 24 Nov 2017 00:26:53
I don’t feel sorry for them at all! I’ve had to listen to how they’re going to be up there challenging us all summer and I’ve been saying no, bottom half finish this season. This though is beyond my wildest dreams! They are truly awful and show no sign of improving anytime soon. 5-1 at home to Atalanta is a disgrace no matter the attendance or competition. Funniest thing I’ve seen for ages!

6.) 24 Nov 2017 00:48:38
Ed 25 don't let your club depress you mate. Support a club worth supporting.

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately blues are born not manufactured Eka, i believe you stick with them through thick and thin but we are all entitled to have a good moan when things are going tits up mate..

7.) 24 Nov 2017 07:20:49
Morning ed25 what happened to your lots battle at the top?

{Ed025's Note - i wish i could explain it p1 we are an absolute shambles, and you think you have something to moan about mate..

8.) 24 Nov 2017 07:28:23
Ed025
Genuinely hope it turns soon. Don't get all the negativity towards our neighbours.

There was a time when it was Merseyside v The Rest.

{Ed025's Note - i was part of that agger and it was fantastic, i am looking for positives with everton mate but finding it very hard at the moment i must say..

9.) 24 Nov 2017 07:51:06
I think it’s a good reminder that

1) when you sell your best player, don’t scatter the funds across the rest of the team, you just end up weakening your previous strength, and disenfranchising the rest of the players (like we also managed to do when Suarez left)

2) you can’t change a significant number of the team and expect them to all click like a team that’s played together for years (unless your name is Pep and you have hundreds of millions to spend) . a warning for all those on this site that want to replace 6-7 players because they think we have no leaders on the pitch so therefore want Hendo, Gini, Coutinho, Can, Moreno, Lovren, Klavan, Migs etc. etc. to be replaced!

10.) 24 Nov 2017 08:11:01
Only thing is zimbo they all need replacing or improving upon if our team is to be title contenders.

11.) 24 Nov 2017 08:15:42
I was part of that too Agger but it was brought about more of necessity. If your neighbours are doing well what do you do? We decided to almost bend together and be proud together.
It didn’t take long for us to be laughing at them when they nearly got relegated a few years later!
We’re like brothers I think, deep down we love each other but it really is funny to take the p@ss out of them!

12.) 24 Nov 2017 09:23:21
Any season would be a lot less enjoyable if Everton weren't in it.

13.) 24 Nov 2017 11:45:02
Hi Ed025

Like your attitude. Keep it up.

Very few have the ability to accept reality and have a laugh.

Cheers.

{Ed025's Note - if we cant have a bit of banter sami then its a very sad day, a lot of my friends and relations are reds mate and we are at each other every opportunity we get, it never gets out of hand though as its only football even though the younger generation seem to think its life and death..

Ed25 surly 5 subs would suit Everton as after you’ve dived and hacked your way to 5 bookings in the first 60 minutes you can replace them and continue to boot anything that moves whilst avoiding 2nd yellow cards and subsequent bans ??.

100% agree Redcork, I remember when we signed Sami Hyypia and it was like Sami who, Most fans were underwhelmed when we signed Robbo and Gini from relegated teams. Not many objected when we tried to offload Hendo to Fulham. Lots on here were saying Mane had attitude problems and Salah was only 5th choice. All of these players were outstanding for us so maybe trust the management team who will have done slightly more research on players than 2 minutes on youtube.
