I think it's too easy for us to all over analyse.

What's the point in changing tactics and formations when the fundamental issue is confidence (or lack of) at the moment. It'll be the same players feeling very low being asked to do different things. Stick to what you know and fight your way back to form!

This will happen to most teams through every level of the game unfortunately. Confidence is like a C.V.. When things are going wrong, it spreads through the team. When things start to improve, everyone finds that extra 20%.

It's been a rough watch this first couple months of the season. There will be no talk of the title or even top 4 at this stage. First and foremost every player needs to fight there way back into form and build on that.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and my opinion is that it is really as simple as I said above. Once this very capable team have discovered some form and start firing, we will be tough to beat again.

It's an old cliche but it is so true -
Form is temporary. Class is permanent.

What happens though if certain players are passed their peak? If we are talking about getting to a level to challenge for top 4, I get that. But this group and manager can’t get to a level to challenge City. Ed001 says we have improved but I think we have gone backwards whereas City have improved.

The point in changing tactics or formation is to start winning games. You win games, and the confidence grows. It's not going to grow unless you start winning. This is not a confidence issue anyway IMO. It is purely down to really bad form caused by who knows how many factors. Salah hasn't been himself for 9 months. Trents been off, Big V has been off and so has Robertson. Fabs hasn't been his best either, nor Hendo. If it is a confidence issue, then it's definitely contagious.

The problems clearly started in pre season. The coaches and management clearly did a terrible job at getting the players ready for the season. I really have a horrible feeling we will get it together just in time for the World Cup break. Arsenal clearly managed to get ready, why couldn’t we? Half of our players are going to get a pre season break anyway, no excuses.

We can't even afford to bench the players off form because we don't have adequate replacements. The first 11 have done very well consistently but they aren't machines. I blame lack of genuine depth.

Too many shoe-ins with no one to push behind the scenes - Ramsey is for the future and not to be thrown in to a car crash with the defense.

To be out worked in football is criminal - the dye was cast in the first 45 minutes against Fulham who are no Brighton.

I'm at a loss to this current malaise, apart to call it pathetic.

Do we change tactics, the warm-up routine or something else.

Klopp doesn’t have the balls to drop VVD. We have 4 cb’s as good as anyone else’s. Timmy was supposed to be better than Robbo, Elliot was the superstar in waiting. It’s not the squad for me atm it’s Klopp and the so called superstars.

The lack of confidence has come off the back of a steady decline. Things have gone wrong and that will be affecting confidence of course, but the blame for things going wrong in the first place lies squarely with the management and the players.

There are no boogie men, no unfair external factors that have caused this. This started last season and has got worse and worse over time, it isn’t something that started against Fulham. We started slow and surrendered countless leads last season, only we largely got away with it in the long run.

Players and management have gone up their own backsides, massively dropping the ball and everything that was ever good about us has eroded as a result. That is going to cause a lack of confidence but that doesn’t just happen in a bubble, there are causes for that and it shouldn’t be affecting us every week. Confidence is not the germ of the problem.

It is incredibly frustrating because we already have everything we need to have a successful season, but we’re throwing it away. It could all completely change overnight, but it will require the management to admit they were wrong, change their approach and reinstall that hard work ethic we were so well known for, probably by dropping a few players and bringing an element of jeopardy back into team selections. It all feels so close but so very far as well.

It will take a huge collective awakening for our season to change. Until then I don’t hold much hope of getting any result against any team, and I certainly won’t be putting any of our boys in my FPL team. If there’s one positive I can take from this, it’s that i’ll be putting distance between me and the other FPL players who are choosing to keep the faith!

The night is always darkest before the dawn. Things will get better.

{Ed025's Note - that’s what the captain of the titanic said Tom .. ?

It’s surprising to hear you talk like this AW and if you feel this way it shows how bad we have been all season. If The management swallow their pride and we sit deep we can turn it around. It’s still not 100% lost we can turn it around within a great month. Let’s start tomorrow.

Steady decline? The over analysis is getting pretty funny tbh.

One sure fire way to disrupt team spirit and probably earn yourself a P45 into the bargain is to lose the support of the senior players in my view.
No way you can drop arguably the best player in the team (VvD) even if he’s had an indifferent start to the season.
Klopp needs his senior players more than ever, they’re the ones that can turn this round, even if I do think an influx of 2 or 3 new players is required.

AW, you’re doing too much in your analysis, bro. Relax, it’s not rocket science. We are having an indifferent start to the season for various footballing reasons. The personal accusations and player/ staff insults is not necessary esp since you have no proof to back them up other than your emotions. Chill! You can make your points without going all OTT and all that.
