Maybe, just maybe. I know we have an easyish route, but it's time to appauld Southgate. I know he has his doubters, but 2 semi finals is good going.
I know people question his tactics but possibly 5 clean sheets, at the time of typing, comfortable in every game. I think its time people start recognising what he is doing. After all, he has done better then the so called golden generation.

I was just thinking the same. I *think* he’s the most successful England manager since Sir Alf for his 2 semi-finals, especially in 2 tournaments.

It's always been the players who have carried him. If it's been two semi-finals it has happened despite Southgate. All credit should go to the EPL which has nurtured and grown these players.

Sry Liverpoolmanc, For some fans here only attacking footy is the way to play. Defending footy has no place here despite the pain of being bantering by Rivals for decades forget winning ENG couldn't even QF for quarter finals consistently despite having star-studded players all over the pitch at the time.

Southgate has done unbelievable job with young players at the same time protecting/ Shielding defense which is the weakest link in this England side. Hatts off to him 🙌✌️.

Credit where it's due, LManc. Proud to be English.

Aray, if it's nothing to do with Southgate, why haven't england done this before. I suppose no team needs a manager then? On paper, he shouldn't be doing what he is, but he is. Capello on paper was better manager, Sven was a better manager, hodgson was a better manager. None of them have done what Southgate has and they had better players. I think the difference is that the players have bought into him. I don't know what goes on in the dressing room, but on the pitch, it looks like they play for him and actually believe.

It is a compelling point there Lpoolmanc, he clearly is getting something from them and for that he must deserve credit. However, even if England go on to win this tour and the World Cup next year, not ludicrously impossible, if he decided to move onto club football I would put everything I own on him not lasting a season.

Not sour grapes but seriously. Scotland. Czech Republic. Croatia. The worst German team in history. Ukraine. Talk about getting carried away. When Denmark, Italy or Spain provide the opposition it’ll be a different story.

You can only beat what's infront of you. I'm not getting carried away as I know we can get knocked out at anytime. But just remember back to Iceland.5 clean sheets, a young team, he deserves some credit. If it was Germany and not England everyone would be saying what a machine the German team was. How many hard games did liverpool have when we won the champs league? I'm not saying he is the best manager in the world, but 2 semi finals is a lot better then what any thought we would get 4 years ago.

{Ed0666's Note - no one believed me when I said England were favourites and it was theres to lose.

Well done to england getting to the semi-finals of the euros. However I can’t help feeling that we have been very lucky in the teams we have played, and had we played a decent team (playing a below par and ageing Croatia and Germany doesn’t count), I think we would have been knocked out sooner. Let’s be honest, the likes of Ukraine and Denmark aren’t really heavyweights of European or world football. But it is what is is, we just need to enjoy it whilst is lasts. I still think we will meet Italy in the final and they will beat us with their diving and time-wasting tactics.

JeeBizzie just like Swiz knocking France or Czech knocking Netherlands lol. ENG couldn't defeat nations like Iceland, Croatia, Sweden etc before Southgate appointment.

I have been impressed but not entertained. It doesn't seem to matter which players are on the pitch, we have hardly looked like conceding, never mind losing.
Maybe this is England's dynasty because a lot of those players have 8-15 years in front of them, we can also add TAA and when James Maddison fit and Mason Greenwood when he grows up so all is rosy in the garden. We also have some improving players that didn't make the squad including Watkins, Bamford and Jesse Lingard. COME ON ENGLAND.
