Hi Ed's

Dare I ask this but just wondered. IF Liverpool qualified for Champions League next season would this in any way change our stance on making a move for Bellingham?

In no way am I desperate for him to sign, but I just wondered with that extra income generated by CL money as to whether this would change things in the summer window.

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained, the signing of Bellingham by Liverpool is very difficult. Other clubs are much better placed to do something.}

Ship has sailed on Bellingham, however, optimistic for the future, looking forward to seeing what some of the kids who have been on loan come back and do. Bradley looks ready, and quansah who I haven’t see. Much of, looks like he can do something. Bake rice back after injury and a proper full pre season with the first team, have high hopes. Obvsiouly a few transfers to be made and things could be looking up.

More money and champs league football always makes signing top talent more likely.

Let it go.

Reading between the lines, it doesn't sound like CL qualification would make a difference to our ability to buy Jude. The total cost looks to be beyond us.

It shouldn't annoy us, but it sticks in the craw after the season we have had and the midfield being a contributory factor to that.

Why let it go? I will say he’s definitely not coming soon as he signs for someone else.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have moved on.}

Unless we manage to get top 4 and champions league money pays for him. That's what you meant ed and we know it mate.

{Ed002's Note - No, he has better options - I have explained all of this.}

We aren’t even getting top 4 anyway. Buy a right back and 2 CM for Bellingham money and make the squad much stronger.

@Joshkel, we’ve bought two right backs in the last couple of years and one out on loan has just won all the awards at the club’s end of year awards. X p- young player of the year, player’s player of the year and player of the year. We don’t need another right back.

WDW even better then. Save RB money to buy a CB lol will be back challenging in no time.

I have to agree with that Joshkel. A CB and 2 CMs are the minimum we should be looking at.

If we get rid of Phillips and Williams and one of Matip or Gomez or VVD AND THE CLUB DON’t think Van den Berg or Quansah aren’t ready for the. 4th / 5th CB role then a CB would be a good option.

If we move trent to cm then i reckon we could go big on another cm and possibly a cb with Bradley and Ramsay to fight it out for RB. That would give us Fab Trent plus one, with Thiago Jones Hendo Elliot and Bajectic as backup. instantly strengthens our midfield and should leave enough over to get a starter cb (or at least one who will challenge VVD)

@Mikey, more cash and CL football usually guarantees more expensive signings likely, which doesn’t always mean talent (Naby) although I, do agree with what you are saying.

And Morton (good season at Blackburn) and maybe Clarkson named young player of the year at Aberdeen) and Clark too.

Clarkson did well even understanding what they say up there!

We are still the place he wants to be Ed002 though, he has better financial offers from elsewhere but this is the place he wants to be.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Bellingham ever declaring he wants to be at Liverpool. I am not aware of the financial offers in any detail.}

He can't declare it publicly but he's already been over here, his agent is getting no joy at all from the owners, that's from the horses mouth.

{Ed002's Note - So Liverpool's tapping up of Bellingham has gone far further than Borussia Dortmund warning the club off trying to influence him via his family then. Your accusations against the owners are laughable.}

Are you calling Jude Bellingham a horse @Lancaster?

19.) 11 May 2023

Sounds more like what drops out the back end of a horse.

my take on Jude is that we are choosing not to afford as opposed to not being able to afford him, under the context that we've decided we need to use the money we have on more signings not just a few.

Also, I think that our relationship with other big clubs could be better and it may help us at negotiation time.

In any case, if it's just about transfer strategy, then I would go all in on Jude as I don't think we need the major shake-up in one window as many others seem to think. But I can understand have gone the way they have.

@Faith, i'm with you, I don't think we need 2/ 3 average midfielders like we are being linked with, Bellingham is a mile above them all and makes little sense to not get him.
