Senior FSG sources have DISMISSED recent speculation that they are on the brink of selling Liverpool to a Qatari consortium or anyone else. FSG increasingly likely to sell minority stake in Liverpool. An article from The Athletic this morning. So it looks like more of the same for the foreseeable future.

I cannot begin to fathom why people take the word of any journalism (known to be highly innacurate almost all the time), when we have the vast inside knowledge of ed2 updating us on what he understands to be the situation.

Nobody is going to want to buy a minority stake. Why would someone agree to fund the transfers and have no say in how the club is being run while FSG sit on their hands and cream the bulk of the benefits from their investment?

They've been open to 'strategic partners' for about 8 years with nobody stupid enough to take them up on the offer. Can't imagine that changing anytime soon unless we have a whip round.

{Ed001's Note - they have already brought in some, so that's not true. Man City have done the same as well. As have other clubs. It happens a lot. They would just be gambling that the value of the shares will continue to rise over time, which it is likely it will, especially when the stadium work is completed and revenues increase due to the capacity increase.}

Shares in FSG if I'm right though, rather than Liverpool FC which is what they're currently looking for? The RedBird investment into FSG had absolutely zero benefit to the football club and certainly wasn't used to be competitive in the transfer market.

{Ed001's Note - buying shares in Liverpool would be more beneficial to the buyer than in FSG. Not sure you understand what buying shares would mean anyway. The money goes to the person who sells the shares, not the football club. Liverpool will not benefit from them selling up completely or partially unless the investor chooses to invest.

Now if they issued new shares, that would then be money that would go into either FSG or LFC, depending on which company issued them. But that is not what is happening here. I don't understand why people are so concerned with this. It might make absolutely no difference at all even if they sell. The chance of someone coming in and pumping huge amounts of money in are very slight. Probably for the best looking at the mess throwing money at a club has made of Everton. You would expect them to invest a bit, but it is unlikely we will get someone like Boehly, probably more like Kretinsky at West Ham.}

Comical when folks use something to slag FSG then find out they're wrong.
FSG have talked about minority stake from their original statement. Only fans can't/ don't want to grasp that and continue to believe all the crap on the clickbait sites about Quatari multi billion takeovers.

It’s James Pearce. The opposite of what he says is usually right.

I'm aware of all of this, point I'm making is why would an minority buyer invest in the playing squad? FSG don't, so they're not going to do it. It would be 100% risk for shared reward. Any minority investment will change nothing from our side of things

City is a totally different proposition altogether as well, much more room for growth given the fact they started at a much lower point. Football is very much mid-bubble at the moment I would guess and the value of the biggest clubs is going to peak, if it hasn't already.

Who's slagging FSG? You like to put your own spin on things I notice. I posted a rumour as it's a rumour site. If FSG remain then things stay the same can you prove any different?

Invest in the playing squad? Shared reward? Seriously?

I'm not here to argue, but you clearly don't know much. I don't know much either. But I do know that your points are so wrong.

Peace and out.

They don't invest in the playing squad, that is the entire purpose of the self-sustaining model. And it would be shared reward, obviously

Random words with a question mark at the end isn't a counter-point

Much either? Peace? Seriously?

Not sure what you're getting your knickers in a twist for ORT.
I also don't put a spin on anything. I tell it like it is, if other posters don't like it or fail to grasp what I'm referring to then that's just tough on them.

As I said couple of days back once we lose you here all kind of potential buyers being leaked Including Bellingham transfer etc.

Once we win you'll see completely opposite news especially from naysayers.

The extra revenue coming the new stand better go straight in the transfer funds, we need every little bit while these lot are still there, it's shameful the amount revenue, success and prizes we won to be below half of the league in net spending, not many sources out there that know the take over bids so take all of them with a pinch of salt.

Here's what I think will happen based on absolutely nothing. I think the Qatari's will by a minority share in LFC. They will then start to sell off PSG so that they are minority shareholders (kind of like when Red Bird bought into FSG) and then do a full takeover of LFC sometime in 2024 (Like Red Bird with AC Milan) . Again, I'm piecing things together and probably putting 2+2 together and getting 5, but that is my prediction.

Sure senior fsg sources are not allowed to say anything on the matter. For all thise saying we don't want them or any Saudis ect. I can see most premier league clubs going the same way eventually and we'd be left feeding on scraps. Best to steal a march here and get a head start. United will be sold soon and we are already playing catch up.

I guess this is why it's best not to discuss finances, particularly when it comes to football clubs and investments. FSG have attracted several minority investments over the years who have directly invested in 'liverpool' (I say that loosely as they aren't actually putting their money into the club) .
Basically, as Ed001 says, any investment is highly unlikely to have an affect on monies available for transfers, and they certainly wouldn't be expected to put money forward for transfers by FSG.

Stuie, there basically selling off and using our LFC brand for everyone to have their piece of the Liverpool pie but leaving the most important part, the squad, too burn out, there can't be any support for their strategy of running Liverpool anymore, out staying their welcome more and more with everyday passing and tarnishing what they have done in the past.

This isn't accurate and Pearce would be the last one to get info as he is a mouthpiece for the club used when needed.

He has no access to either Goldman Sachs or the countries of interest.

To be fair, I don't even think a Middle Eastern takeover is going to lead to the frivolous spending people are expecting. The sportswashing has been a bit counter-productive anyway, if anything it's just brought more negative attention

They're looking to diversify their economies and become less reliant on oil. So they'll be wanting a return, it's pretty clear Newcastle aren't going to be throwing money about in the same way PSG and City did. They may have deeper pockets and be willing to take a few more risks, but they won't be wanting to make a loss in the long term.

6timessofar you are spot on. But I did get a laugh from thinking about Burger Head being laughed out of Goldman Sachs' offices.

Now, I have investments (albeit on a way smaller scale than what we're discussing here! ), but if the company I invested in turned around and asked me to stump up some cash so they can buy some new equipment after I have invested my money, I'd tell them where to go.

You invest in the hope that your initial input increases over time, allowing you make a profit when you sell your share. I don't understand why people think it is so different for a football club. It has always been made clear money would be available for the right player whilst at the same time, getting the club into a relatively healthy financial position compared to what it was previously.

Well if fsg stick around we'll be regularly lucky if we get top 4.more likely top 5th to 8th at best.

This is all posturing to increase the price, whilst breaking the fans in slowly that the club and its socialist values, to at least what's left are about to be flushed down the pan.
FSG can't take us any further, nor are they likely to increase the value of the club since we can't compete based upon the miracle that is Jurgen all the time. This means now is the time to exit.
FSG are master poker players and they will be rinsing whoever comes along for as much as possible, and all of this is part of that play.

LFC won’t be sold not a chance it’s just wishful thinking as China Crisis once said.
