Continuing the chat about Suarez. Expecting to get shot down here but calling Suarez a great footballer, rubbish person I think is unfair.
On the pitch he was. Sh*thouse. Biting, cheating. a great player who'd do anything to win. His angling for a move angered us all and he could have conducted himself better in this regard, but he wouldn't be the first or last to angle for a move.
I saw him a few times with his wife and child around the city centre and he was very friendly and seemed like a decent guy. So to call him a rubbish person seems a bit presumptive. Sh*thouse on the football pitch yes, off it who knows, but quite possibly not.

Suarez was a cheat full stop, his diving antics was shocking, also what happened in the Ghana semi was atrocious, good player but was nowhere to be seen when we really needed him to drag us over the line to win the title, he went missing.

Anybody correct me if i'm wrong on any of this, but i believe Suarez was the perpetrator in several incidents? And i'm not talking about diving, or maybe a few dirty tackles.

1. He assaulted a referee at youth level
2. He bit Ottman Bakkal
3. He flipped off the Fulham fans
4. He racially abused Patrice Evra
5. He bit Branislav Ivanovic
6. He bit Giorgio Chiellini
7. He threatened to sue Liverpool FC

I'd argue it's more than fair to assume he is a unsavory person. Just the Evra incident alone gives that assumption credibility, if you ask me.

Speak as you find. But he dragged the clubs and Kennys name through the mud with his despicable antics.

He ruined his career by leaving Liverpool and got fat in Barcelona. Same with Pipco and Mane I think the magic of our great club made these players what they where. Once they left the magic faded and should be a warning to others looking to play in easier leagues. The grass is not always greener. And to bring Belly up again he would have been a great at Liverpool at Madrid I just don’t see it he won’t be pushed as hard whilst sunbathing in Spain. Basically if you want to boost your career and gain an extra 10-20% join Liverpool.

So by your logic if your partner hits you it’s ok as long as most the time they’re nice!

So if we just ignore the cheating, physical assault (biting another human?! ) and a little bit or racism then he’s amazing. Kind of man you’d def want to marry your daughter and be a role model for your grandkids heh. Give your moral compass and head a wobble….

OP, Suarez was a true piece of work, end of story. There is nothing presumptive of that. the facts and his acts speak for themselves. Cos he and his family seem to be nice people does not remove from the fact that he cost a true LFC legend and an even better human being in King Kenny his job when Kenny believed he did not do what he did with Evra.

Kenny (till this day) has NO ill will towards him which is another piece of evidence of the good man Kenny remains. If Suarez was a tenth of the man Kenny is, he would have even been regarded as a good man who made mistakes and would have been forgiven, rather than one who ruined other people's lives just to get his way and did NOT care who got hurt in the process.

Oh and one last thing. We loved Suarez cos we were desperate for success and looked the other way with his disgusting behaviour provided we were winning. Had Klopp been in charge at the time, Suarez would have been GONE he season after, hands down. Peace and Love.

1jj I don’t need to give my head a wobble. I’m merely questioning the commonly rolled out view.
On the pitch antics awful yes, but is he like that off the pitch. Who knows. I know a lot of footy players who are horrible on the pitch and turn into something different when playing to who they are in real life. Are they the same off the pitch ‘no’. Is Suarez different, who knows. That’s my point. That’s all.

The way some people have a percentage of neanderthal in them, maybe suarez has a higher than usual percentage of beaver in his genes.

what a terrible thread and take on Suarez from the OP. other posters shouldn't have to explain anymore past he racially abused another human being end of, he's human trash but an insanely talented footballer.

Not being funny but there's gamesmanship and then there's assault, racial abuse, sueing your own club and being a serial biter. Bit of a difference, wouldn't you agree?

Suarez got fat at Barcelona? Yet still won the treble, and is the only player to beat both Messi and Ronaldo in goals in a season. Let's face it. He may be a bellend but biy could he play.
In my opinion he is the best non Messi, non Ronaldo player of the past decade.

Did someone really write that Suarez ruined his career by moving from Liverpool to Barcelona? Where he won 13 trophies in 6 seasons and scored 198 goals in 283 games? Joker.

Oddly enough when he played for Liverpool, very few fans had a bad word to say about Suarez, concentrating more on his footballing talents and far less on the unsavoury stuff.

I wish I was as "fat" as Luis Suarez" ?

But seriously though. Wonderful footballer but terrible human being.

Completely agree with everything you set out MK. He has a very long list of evidence setting out how he is not a player that we should label as a "nice guy"!

Suarez was absolutely class. One of the best footballers in the last 20 years.

I think what the original poster was saying that as bad as he could behave on the pitch and yes many times it was disgraceful and no way defendable. I’ve never seen anything about Suarez off the pitch. Unlike so many other players gerrard, carragher, Rooney, gascoigne, best, Terry etc etc etc. so is it better to be a vile person on the pitch or off it?

The issue with Suarez as that he didn’t recognise boundaries when he wanted to do something, mostly to get his own way or, on the field, to win. I think I read somewhere that his childhood and his family’s circumstances weren’t the best which, f true, might put his actions into a bit of context. Not saying the things he did were right or ok but just saying they were prompted by past experiences and not just him being a random nutter.

Still prefer him to Fernandez at united. Never disliked a player more and nothing to do with him even playing for them.

Most teams have a player that fans would absolutely hate if they played for someone else. For example, only fans of United could love Bruno. If he played for anyone else, United fans would abuse him as much as we do and see him as the cheat that every other fan base does. Suarez was that for us. When he played for Liverpool, almost everyone defended him. A small few even defended the racial abuse denying that it ever happened. Once he left, everyone saw him for what he was. Fans are very fickle.
