They attack a lot down the wide channels so I would personally go for Robertson at LB for his height in defence and his attacking delivery from out wide, and then Gomez at RB for his defensive/ aerial ability and to help against set pieces. CBs would be Lovren and Klavan as that's the same back 4 that did a good job vs Palace and Hoffenheim forwards aren't massively blessed with pace either.

I'd play two deep in midfield in Hendo/ Can so one can step out wide to cover any overloads without leaving a gaping hole in midfield. Forget the high press. they played around that too easily in the last game.

I'd play Firmino at no.10 and a front 3 of Mane, Sturridge and Salah. Would even be tempted to start Solanke TBH but maybe too early and better to start him as a sub.

We need someone in that midfield with an eye for a pass, who is good on the ball and won't s%£t his pants when the ball is at his feet (wijnaldum), Solanke will run the defenders all day and hold it up for the wide men to come in or stay wide to do there thing, wouldn't have Lovren in, he should be wearing the number 5, he is a donkey and way too rash, ideally id bed Gomez in at centre back alongside VVD, its worrying me that nothing seems to be happening in the way of in comings and it seems we are going to try and "wing it" again and keep this midfield as it is.

Partially agree with Harry; Grujic for Gini but keep Bobby at 9. Sturridge still not 100%, Origi not ready for such a big game and keep Solanke as an impact sub if needed or to give 1 of top3 a rest if game safe (probably Mane as we need him fresh for Sunday)

TAA and Robertson to start. Maybe Gomez alongside Matip?

SGRed, The Lovren and Klavan pair would be a disaster but then I realized it must be a typo haha. I would definitely start Klavan over Lovren as well giving Lovren does not have a limit of making mistakes, we could easily be 3 : 0 down in the first game at half time but Klavan is more like 1 mistake per match.

Gomez looks way out of his depth at right back and offers nothing going forward (not criticising him like - it is sort of what you would expect from a centre back playing at right back) - TAA is playing well and suits the role, not sure how it is even up for debate who starts there. Robertson has done enough to start as well.

SGRed, in your team, i will replace Gomez with TAA and Sturridge with Solanke in the first half, then reverse this during substitution especially if we are leading. So that Gomez sits back for TAA, Robertson is still a threat with the crosses, Can or Hendo comes in for Firmino and Sturridge plays as a lone striker.

For the record us getting an early goal does not "put the tie to bed" as it changes nothing for Hoffenheim, they still need to score two.
