Yo ed001

Apparently a number of Klopp's ex-BVB players, such as Mkhitaryan, found Klopp's style of play 'creatively stifling'. What do you think of that? It's kinda BS when you consider that they more often than not scored around 80 goals per season.

{Ed001's Note - some did not like the fact that he expected them to work hard. Nothing to worry about.}

Think Arda Turan leaving Atletico to warm Barca's bench because he didn't fancy the running that Simeone enforces in his players, calling it creatively stifling is an easy way of justifying it as it shifts the blame and the fans know no better.

I thought it was the Focus ST that set the trend for orange Fords. Clearly I was wrong. Thanks for enlightening me, Ron :)

Creativity stiflingly, Is that why he signed up for 4 years with mourinho?

He's just looking for something to blame his poor form under klopp on.

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish - this is an old statement and he was one of a number of players that Klopp pissed off with his training methods.}

These guys are on ridiculous money and they moaning about training? like to see them graft a 50 hour week to just get buy in life I will happily run my socks off all morning for a tenth of what these guys earn.

{Ed002's Note - They are not moaning about having to train they are moaning about Klopp's training methods stiffling the creativity of players, Klopp's inability to see the need to change his approach and the damage it did to results.}

But some football players aren't the brightest, ed002. The football methods cannot just suddenly stifle creativity when for the previous seven seasons it didn't seem to do that. Gegenpressing was all about winning the ball higher up the pitch to create chances. I agree with ed001 on this - I never used to really watch dortmund, ed001 did, and I'll take his word that gegenpressing was actually abandoned throughout that massive form slump.

Anyway, doesn't matter who the manager is, their methods will always piss of somebody.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry, he is not the only player to have said this and it is evidenced by the drop in form of Dortmund and Klopp not having won anything for years.}

Ed02, how would you suggest Klopp change/ modify his gameplay?

Last season, according to me was not a complete Gung-Ho approach. we were more compact then under Rogers and the pressing was not over the top. The passing was better too.
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained before he needs to have the ability to change and I have explained before that his tactics in training do not suit many players. There is no need to go over this again.}

You're right Ed, the results did get worse. It maybe worth noting the injuries sustained to the first team during that first half of the season, not to mention the recovery in the second half of the season which ended in them reaching the DFB Pokal final and achieving Europa League qualification.

Ed02, based on Ed01`s view, Klopp has already changed or adapted his style towards the end of last season and I could see a bit of change at that time. As for players complaining about training methods, I would take that with a pinch of salt as players of today are known to be lazy. Poch, Simeone, Sampaoli (all disciples of Bielsa ) run their players ragged in training as well and some can cope while others can`t. I don`t hear players at Athleti or Spurs complaining about it. That doesn`t mean the coach`s methods don`t work clearly it worked for Klopp who defied all odds to beat Bayern to titles and Cups on occasion and terrorized the whole of Europe for two seasons in the CL. My thing is, some players can handle it while ohers can`t. the players talking are those who couldn`t and thos who could and who thrived under it, are not. Just my take.

{Ed002's Note - Excellent idea, distract, blame the players and bring other clubs in to it. It is as I have explained - players don't like it. It doesn't bring success - as evidenced at Dortmund. And of course it didn't work at Liverpool. You will notice that the players Liverpool are interested in are young and can run quickly.}

It won them two straight Bundesligas and strong UCL campaigns. How can you say it didn't bring them success? Klopp only stopped winnings things once Bayern assembled arguably the world's best team with the most recently successful manager in the world.

{Ed002's Note - It was years ago - Klopp hasn't won in recent years - it was found out. It has all been covered before.}

And I think redohio's point is valid. It's not distraction, it's just a comparison to highlight that Klopp's methods are really not stifling, as similar methods have worked at other teams. If you were to conduct an empirical analysis of whether Klopp's kind of methods work, you'd also look at the success experienced by other teams that use the same kind of methods.

Klopp didn't even use it to a great extent at Liverpool. To suggest that he did is just revisionism IMO.

{Ed002's Note - No, it is the standard Liverpool way to distract and bring others in to it. You simply don't get it so give up.}

Ed02, I made a valid point that cuts to both you argument and mine, IMO. I never said you were wrong neither did I say I was right. All I did was try to place a balanced point of view as to why certain players thrive under a system and others moan about it saying it didn`t help them but stifled them. My goal was not to blame anyone even tho, we know players blame just like managers, like to blame others for their issues. I brought other clubs and managers into it as examples to make my point. If you think I was deflecting then you missed the whole point of my post.
