Ed001, what's the clubs or klopps opinion on Stewart? Practically unheard of a few months ago on this site, now he looks the most ready for first team football, defientely got the physical abilities and looks like he can cope as well as any with the mental aspect. Do you see him destined to be solid central midfielder or see him going to great heights? I noticed quite a brilliant pass to Clyne late on from him.

{Ed001's Note - he is very well liked mate, he has pushed himself to the forefront of the kids.}

Stewart not really a kid, 23/ 24 I think, thought he was best of bunch at Exeter away and done well v West Ham.

I think Stewart is going to be quality . I have seen him a few times now and he looks better each game . His positional awareness is what's needed to play that position but he is always looking for the ball and isn't short on confidence and I like that . I know when he came on the game had been over for some time but he never looked out of place . Now I'm looking forward to ojo getting a shot . Cheers
Jamesy.

Why was Stewart let go by Spurs. The way they are nurturing young players I'm surprised they let him go. Was it his choice or was he not deemed good enough.

{Ed001's Note - they were looking at other players and Inglethorpe convinced him to join us.}

He's older than emre can and the same age as coutinho and hendo and allen (ish) he is in that kind of quality but won't improve much further.

{Ed001's Note - that's not necessarily true. In fact it is unlikely to be true as experience will almost certainly lead to major improvements. Players tend to make the most gains when they first start getting regular first team football, it is not just coaching or age related, it is a lot to do with the experience. That is why late developers can happen often, it is simply that they are learning by playing, and just never got the opportunity to get that experience sooner.}

Cheers ed001. Hope they end up regretting it.

{Ed001's Note - I think they did anyway, at least up until Dier worked out at defensive mid.}

Cheers Dan, wasn't sure but did think he was few years older than other "kids"

Henderson is older, he's 25 isn't he? Certainly not 22,3,4.

Stewart is just quality. Like Lallana, he is two footed. Unlike Lallana, he can tackle and shoot. The more games, he will defo be a regular player in the senior squad even if not a starter.

I think Coquelin at arsenal is a reasonable benchmark to look towards in regards to Stewart. Both served there time in lower league football and would be regarded as 'late' developers as well. The role required is more a mental/ tactical attribute based, which i would say to most comes with time, forget the age, what he offers is useful and clearly he has the desire to make it. let's wait and see, but fingers crossed he can keep developing. Too many players get wrote off without a run a la flanagan before 2013/ 2014, almost makes you wonder why some managers are not inclined to give someone a good run, you never know until the player is put into the situation just how his temperament and attributes will play out.

I think he's usurped Lucas as DM or could do at any rate. Has excellent positional sense and is more mobile than lucas. That said I hope Lucas stays as I think he could be a good centre back after his West Ham showing.

He was let go by Spurs and because Inglethorpe knew all about him he signed him up, as a full back. Micheal Beale moved him to no6 when Jordan Williams and Jordan Rossiter went up to Melwood, because he's 2 footed athletic and started is youth career as a centre back. Micheal Beale and Alex Inglethorp deserve the credit for the lads development from Spurs full back reject to a promising 2 footed central defensive midfielder. I know everyone says it but he has been a Liverpool fan all his life.

Did you hear klopps comment when listing the best things from the match 'I'm happy to be part of Kevin Stewart's third game for us' 😂😂.

Stewart is 22, I've just checked the LFC website. He was born in 1993.

It only takes 1 season to break through - Harry Kane?

Then the trick is to follow it up. He's still a baby @ 22 😄.

{Ed001's Note - just like to point out Terry Mc is 100% wrong, when he was signed Inglethorpe said he saw him having a future in defensive midfield. He was never brought in to be a long term fullback.}

@Fruitba - he is also quite a similar player to Ryan Mason and Benteleb who were both in the academy with him and both ahead of him, they wouldn't be able to create enough chances for three of them.

Stewart is class. I have been extreamly impressed with the lad. Always willing for the ball, Positionally sound with some neat range of passing.
He needs games. Simple.
