Any truth that Henderson is in advanced talks to join Gerrard?

{Ed002's Note - Jordan Henderson (CM) There is no secret that Steven Gerrard would like to take Jordan Henderson and Wilfried Zaha to Al-Ettifaq with him - hugely embarrassing for the Liverpool fans who have protested against the Saudi Public Investment Fund and accused them of owning Chelsea.}

I haven’t seen anymore from the Liverpool fans surrounding the Saudi saga than I have from anyone else.

10 Jul 2023 11:51:10
I can't see that happening. If anything, we still need his leadership and I definitely think he'll get a lot of game-time this season.

I also don't see how it would be beneficial for the club. How much would they actually offer for him?

I mean, if he's offered ridiculous money and feels the move would be advantageous for him and his familys future, then by all means - we shouldn't stand in his way.

If it were up to me, though - no chance.

{Ed025's Note - how much do these players need PV? They are already multi millionaires and so it’s down to greed pure and simple..

3.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 11:51:57
Would nt blame Hendo leaving the crap he gets is ridiculous.

4.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 11:57:48
I don’t want hendo to go yet, nor do I think he will. Especially behind the scenes, can’t see klopp wanting to lose him and Milner in one go.

5.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 11:58:48
He could earn enough there to be able to buy Sunderland. :)

{Ed025's Note - or he could go to the USA and become a traffic cop.. :)

6.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:02:12
Why would that be embarrassing for liverpool fans? Genuine question. Bit of an odd reply. Nothing to do with liverpool fans imo.

7.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:04:11
I know what you mean Ed025, I'm just saying we shouldn't stand in his way if he wants the move. As I said, he will play this season, of that I'm sure - but, I don't think he's got that guaranteed starter stamped on anymore.

He's been a great servant to the club, done tons of great charitable work, been a model professional and a great club captain.

For those reasons alone, we shouldn't stand in his way if he wants the move, but - again - for those reasons, I'd rather he stayed.

{Ed025's Note - he has been a good leader PV and a decent player, he could be a good buy for a lower prem team or a championship side if he wanted regular football mate, i still see going to saudi as selling your soul to the devil though..

8.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:24:17
Marty, there has been much written here by some who are outraged at Middle Eastern influence in football and have disparaged other clubs' involvement with oil money. Any association between Liverpool or its players and Saudis could be seen as double standards, hence embarrassing.
Think that's what Ed is getting at?

9.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:28:38
The Club should not stand in his way. Same is the case with Thiago.

We just let 4 players go on free which is very bad.

Both are good with Thiago (luxury) and Hendo (not a regular stater anymore if ambitions are high)

We should start looking for future and complete the overhaul if an opportunity arises.

10.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:31:26
PD that’s got nothing to do with the fans. That would be the players choice.

11.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:32:40
He’s been a great player for us and doesn’t owe us anything. If he wants to leave then am happy for him to go. At the end of the day he’s only got a few years left. Good to luck to him I say.

12.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:40:09
Really don’t see why it’s embarrassing for LFC fans at all.

{Ed002's Note - I guess you wouldn't. I assume you did not read the posts. At least with the Liverpool fans think that Saudi Arabia is in Europe you may get to seem him play in the Champions League.}

13.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:47:39
Exactly 1JJ. Players choice, not fans. When they leave they cease being Liverpool players. No embarrassment for us at all.

{Ed002's Note - I assume Liverpool will not be taking money from the Saudi PIF then? Go back and read the posts and you will see how embarrassing it is.}

14.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 13:05:04
Al-Ettifaq is not a Saudi PIF Club.

15.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 13:07:29
There’s nothing like a nice bit of banter ???

Pent up frustration aside, is there any indication that Hendo wants to go to Saudi Arabia?

16.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 13:18:37
Ed02 is right there was a lot of crap posted about it but saying that its not every Liverpool fan.

17.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 13:49:53
-------It is a pity your father wasn't the wanker you clearly are-------

18.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 13:53:29
Quite possibly ed2. Not from me mind, so no embarrassment for me. I don't tend to mix footie and politics. Its only a game.

19.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 14:08:19
Precisely zip that I've seen WDW3. I suspect unless Henderson is told he's not wanted, he will stay here.

20.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 12:48:34
Hendo still has a lot to offer liverpool. Another season at the top level left in him for me. And I agree ed he could offer a lot more to a newly promoted team say. Just like milner at Brighton. They haven't just got him in for his play, it's for the whole package of knowledge and experience and showing the Brighton lot what needs to change to become 1 of the top teams. Henderson can do the same for a team.
1 more season 1st though and then maybe he'll go. Thiago should be next 1 out.

{Ed025's Note - he still has something to offer Magico but i fear he wont get a lot of game time for the reds this season, i dont think he has the legs to be honest and it would be a shame if the crowd hounded him out if his performances were poor mate..

21.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 13:12:17
bit of a generalization for all fans ed2.

25 - putting politics / moral view etc aside, what is the difference in Szoboslai coming to Liverpool on more wages as he enters his prime and someone like henderson going to get a payday at the end of his career in saudi arabia?

{Ed025's Note - unfortunately you cant put morality and politics aside faith, Dom is coming to England where workers and people have basic human rights mate, lets be honest footballers who have played in the premiership get a bumper pay day every week so thats no excuse..

22.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 14:11:29
ED2 there's a difference between stevie G likeing to take hendo to his club as a manager and SPIF protecting their interests and assets in Chelsea football club as second hand Investors.

{Ed002's Note - The Saudi PIF are not investors in Chelsea. Go and read all of the embarrassing posts.}

23.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 15:15:40
Any idea what kind of fee Hendo would fetch? If it helps us buy a new younger midfielder then we have to sell surely? He has been a great captain and won all the major honours he can with Liverpool so if his choice is to leave and we are compensated accordingly then grant him his request! I don’t think he is the priority outgoing that we should be pushing as he can still play a role in our squad but perhaps he wants game time which we cannot offer and let’s be honest who would say no to the crazy money being offered?

24.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 15:18:20
My hope is that Liverpool do not step down into the muck and do business with these clubs as other clubs in Europe have, but we will see what happens. I'm not a naive child. It's disappointing to see Stevie, Robbie, and Bobby all take their money but sadly isn't shocking either.

25.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 15:37:13
I understand the rhetoric behind suggesting footballers already have enough money, but it changes the way most people think. People get rich and they become greedy, it happens in all walks of life. Why does John Henry still work when he could retire and still hand over the GDP of a medium sized country to his family? Why do organised criminals stay in the life with a target on their back until the day they die when they could just run off into the sunset with the millons they already have? Why do Investment Bankers still work 20 hour days and barely know the name of their own kids? People get money and they want more money, we all think we're above it (I like to think the same) . But how many of us can honestly say we'd turn it down?

26.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 16:00:38
“How much money does it take to make a man happy? Just one more dollar. ” — John D. Rockefeller

This is how footballers think now.

27.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 16:17:21
Thomas, excellent point there. The lure of money should be easier to understand, my guess is that their needs change and in a way that we can't relate to. One's life must feel off when they've made enough for their (and their descendants) needs to be taken care of, so they start making decisions that seem irrational to us regular people.

28.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 18:58:17
Spot on Thomas. I'd drop kick my own brother if someone offered to double my salary ?.

{Ed025's Note - even for 30 pieces of silver MK?, maybe if they threw in a couple of slaves it would be the icing on the cake..

29.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 19:08:08
I'm struggling to work out who Z9's comment was aimed at.

{Ed025's Note - hes gone anyway flash so it doesn,t really matter mate..

30.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 20:25:52
Judging by Hendo’s statement on social issues in his time at Liverpool and particularly about the welfare of players and society in general, on face value it would seem that he has a social com scheme which would suggest that he won’t ‘take the money and run’. We’ll see, but as I say, there’s nothing out there to say that he is even thinking of going.

31.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 22:36:01
I’ve drop kicked my own brother many times and never been paid, feel like I’ve been conned now!

32.) 10 Jul 2023
10 Jul 2023 23:01:35
Thank you autocorrect ? ‘com scheme’ started out as ‘conscience’.

Perhaps Saudi PIF are not investors in Chelsea in the same way that Redbird are not investors in Liverpool? Everybody at the elite level in the game is down in the mud these days and the defence of the indefensible speaks volumes.

{Ed002's Note - Rubbish. RedBird are part owners of FSG - PIF don’t own Chelsea or any or those partners that do. Where do you get this BS from - continued misinformation and embarrassing posts - it is like a huge joke.}

33.) 11 Jul 2023
11 Jul 2023 05:47:52
Alot of you bite the bait put out far too easily sometimes. If you don’t like something that’s said just don’t respond to it. It only adds to what is becoming an increasingly toxic forum. If you don’t have something decent to say then don’t say anything. Very old school manners that everyone on here could use a little of.

34.) 11 Jul 2023
11 Jul 2023 06:56:44
So people are free to give their opinion @Wedtwood only as long as your sense of decency isn’t offended? At which point we suspend freedom f speech?

Ed02, whoops, my mistake, apologies. I do give you credit for being correct about one thing though - embarrassing posts. I wholeheartedly agree with you on that particular point.

35.) 11 Jul 2023
11 Jul 2023 01:36:20
Whoops sorry, my mistake, and you are spot on about the embarrassing posts.

36.) 11 Jul 2023
11 Jul 2023 12:47:10
Not at all West Derby Wanderer3. I don’t get offended by faceless comments. I’m far too long in the tooth for that. But look above, some people obviously do and it all comes back to biting at baited insults and responding aggressively in kind. On and on it goes until people just get banned and for what? What’s the point? Healthy and respectful debate is fine. Toxic arguments stoked by pointless needling, both directed at and from the Ed’s at times I should add, achieve nothing and take away from what these forums are supposed to be for, what they have been excellent at for some years. Your comment is a perfect example of this with all due respect. What were you hoping to achieve by trying to suggest I want to impose on someone’s freedom of speech which is clearly ridiculous. Needlessly trying to poke a hole in a post intended to encourage people to be decent to each other. Arguing for the sake of it and having your voice heard. Well done.
By all means keep your freedom of speech, I’m merely suggesting that just because people have it doesn’t mean they should always exercise their right to use it.
