Hi Ed, anything in De Telegraaf's story that Liverpool are trying to 'hijack' Brighton's move for Mats Wieffer or is it just 2 + 2 = 5 journalism with Slot having joined us? Fully don't expect him to join just thought I'd ask!
{Ed002's Note - Mats Wieffer (DM/CM) Atletico, Barcelona and Lazio interest has moved on. Was seen as an option to replace Tonali at Milan but they opted for Loftus Cheek but could yet return this summer with Bennacer departing. Nice considered him a potential Kephren Thuram replacement but they have now signed someone else. The Agent of the player would like him to move to the PL and has offered him to Brighton who have agreed a fee with Feyenoord and have permission to speak directly to the player. Feyenoord agreed a new contract in May 2023 and would rather not sell but his agent wants him moved on. I am not aware of Liverpool having spoken to Feyenoord about him.}

He’s likely to sign for Brighton soon so we aren’t in the conversation for this. Let’s hope we avoid the likes of Kimmich or Rabiot.

Liverpool have a backroom team together and Slot has been in contact since probably before his offical joining date and knows the player very well. I highly doubt that now that BHA are going to sign him that Liverpool are suddenly going to go "Hey he's agood player, why don't we buy him? "
If he was what we wanted he would he wouldn't be looking at BHA.

Wasn't it Joe Cole who recently said that Liverpool told him to say he turned down x, y and z to sign with us? He said they weren't even in for him.

Re. the Joe Cole thing, you have to remember who we had in charge back then. Tragically out of his depth manager and cowboy owners. We were a joke of a club at that time.
