Good Evening Ed002,

If you have time I would appreciate a reply and again maybe your opinion?

As the euros role on and teams are getting knocked out im sure there maybe more movement in the market with teams trying to get players before pre-season.

Regarding Liverpool everything you have said regarding our defensive targets look like they are spot on as usual, Yoro, Calafiori colwill etc. all built up in the media to now be heading elsewhere or staying.

As you say we may push for Ederson for MF and possibly Pacho for DF but do you see anyone else becoming a priority signing? If not no problem as you have already gone through everything and there may be no change.

Thanks Ed002 always respect your time so no panic ??.

{Ed002's Note - You are right, as the Euros conclude there will be more movement. I still think interest remains in Hancko.}

From the sounds of it Ed, Atletico might beat us to the jump on Hancko and apparently his missus only wants him to go to a club in Spain or Italy.

i'd be ecstatic if we somehow were interested in calafiori, excellent overall performance capped with a key assist after a surging run and one-two from deep yesterday, brilliant player. hancko has been excellent at feyenoord and looks to have all the qualities to take over from virgil, i'd like to think that he can eventually reach that level, anyway.

Thanks Ed002.

VV, Ed002 never said we were signing him just where interest remains regardless of how someone’s wife feels about directing their husbands career. There are no certainties with transfers.

Calafiori's representatives are putting the finishing touches (from what I can gather (from reliable Italian press) for his move to Juve. Yoro has allegedly agreed on personal terms with Real Madrid although that remains unclear.

Personally, If Diaz is intent on leaving us for Barcelona then I'd make an offer of player plus money for Ronald Araújo, who covers 3 positions in the defensive line and would help Darwin embed better. I think it's an unlikely transfer but many of us thought Diaz wouldn't move away from us. Hopeful thinking on my part.

are you sure araujo is worth diaz plus money? i'd imagine diaz is worth 70 mill at least, and araujo didn't have a great season by all accounts, particularly the second half of the season.

25 Jun 2024 09:59:21
@PatrikBurgher, I imagine you'd have condemned VvD after he had an abysmal year with us.

25 Jun 2024 10:23:45
I absolutely would not, have you seen my other posts on here? I’m very protective of our players ?
My question remains whether araujo is worth what you say, no doubt he’s a very good center half but why should we have to cough up more money plus a top class winger that they badly want for a player who isn’t in top form?

25 Jun 2024 12:13:56
Two things about Araujo is that he is a bit prone to losing his head, the second thing is that he’s a bit injury prone and I think we’ve had our fill on that front.

@PatrikBurgher and @VV

Two years ago he was called the best Centre-Back in the world, this has disappeared but he still regularly gets in the top 10 on multiple lists around the world by varied publications and numerous journalist recommendations. Are they accurate? TBH we can't know about anyone prior actuality but he does have great strengths in his tackling and his coverage is astonishing (so he has a great engine) but as VV said he really is prone to getting overly angry. but overly angry in La Liga is run-of-the-mill regular temperament in the EPL (at least I like to think so, lol) . He's tall enough at over 6'2" but very well-built also. He is seemingly susceptible to injuries but I think that might be his temperament and over-eagerness pushing him to overstretch a lot. it is perhaps an issue but Ibou has missed more games and I'd not get rid of him. Is he worth it? It'd depend on what Barcelona want. Let's be honest we're not going to under-price Diaz who has a longer contract period remaining.

Two injury prone centre backs isn’t worth the aggro or risk. 20/ 21 should serve as a reminder as what can happen if we were to lose multiple centre backs due to injury and he is not worth the risk.

25 Jun 2024 14:18:55
But VV we're not in the position of 20/ 21 and a defender that can cover 3 positions at the back is worth it.

We also qualified for the CL in the same season.

I would say that I wouldn’t be opposed to trading Diaz for araujo on the condition that we actually want him and he’s who the scouting team have decided we should make a priority to sign, rather than because Barcelona have indicated that he’d be available for exchange. Otherwise, there are better options that the scouts feel can fill our needs better and for a more cost effective price. Also, in no universe do I think he is worth Diaz plus additional money to begin with.

Who was calling him the best center back in the world? Better than stones, Dias, bastoni etc?
