Apparently Brighton have slapped a £100m price tag on caicedo and Leipzig are refusing to let Laimer leave this window so we can rule them out for the time being!

If this is the case I’d go all out for Neves. He can make the midfield tick, got an eye for a pass, a real goal threat from anywhere within 30 yards and not afraid to get stuck in and do the dirty work!

We could always call Jay Spearing up from the U23’s. No transfer fee and I’m sure we can afford his appearance bonus’s.

OP, I don’t rate Neves cos he lacks pace, graft and the industrious ability to play in a Klopp midfield, IMO. Like Tielemans, he looks ONLY when he’s on the ball BUT when he isn’t he goes missing and also, he is not a presser just like Tielemans. Not sure he is what we need and mind you, Klopp won’t sign anyone ge thinks dies big tick the required boxes so my hope is that we sign who actually dies tick the required boxes.

Laimers agent is the same crowd that Naby is with. Don't see it happening either.

Feels like it’s been left too late. Hopefully can put a decent run to January window and see what happens then. Could be a strange window tho with it also being World Cup in December.

We have the ball on average 65-70% of games compared to not having the ball 30-35% of it.

Surely we should be looking at players with the skill set of what we can do with that ball in 65-70% of the game over players who are good at pressing and getting the ball back for a third of the game.

Ed's, at around 10pm Thursday evening you folks might want to have the site experience "technical difficulties" for a day or 2. Just for your own sanity. There is going to be a lot of traffic coming through when there isn't a signing made. Good luck to you all, you'll need it.

{Ed001's Note - we can just leave it all to Ed33....}

Without the pressing we won't have 70% possession. Our midfield has always been more industrious than technical in my opinion.

Irish that’s a good point mate.

Utd boycotted our press the whole game by just going past it with long balls and we still had over 70% possession. We also lost that game.

Having possession is great but you have to do something with that possession to win the game.

After re reading my comment it probably implies that I’m saying sign someone who doesn’t press.

But that couldn’t be further from the truth. You don’t get into a Klopp team unless you have the work rate. What I meant was why not look at someone who’s strengths are their ability on the ball over their strength being their pressing.

Surely we can have someone who can create and score and then ask them to do the dog work also. Which gives us more strength to the squad. Or we can just keep adding players who all have the same strengths.

Going all out to sign a player just due to a lack of better options isn't really our style.

I'd be surprised if we signed someone now to be honest.

Jones is back, that's the signing we all wanted!

Neves coming in this window then Bellingham next summer, that midfield with Elliott would be a tasty option, throw in Fab, Henderson and its got options we would die for now.

Who do Leipzig and Wolves think they are refusing to sell us a midfielder when we need one?
They'll be refusing to take Keita in part exchange next!
