Ed0666 I see a lot of criticism for the team and Gomez. I thought Forest where very good yesterday and we have played a lot worse teams this season in the premier and the champions league.
Very hard game for Gomez to come in for with the energy Forest had same for Ox and Elliott all three have hardly played. Bobby was the same so with Jota did not play well at all as well so are front three was not at its best with all three just back from injury I know Elliott has been back a bit now but he is not going to be back to his best till next season after a preseason under his belt.
So with all that being said I thought we did well give some players some game time rested Salah Mane Matip and Robertson so good result and we can move on to the next match and out this one to bed.

We looked very much like a side that made 7 changes to the team that has been playing every 3 days for a couple of months.

Until now, I get the feeling team selections have been about fitness as much tactics/ system. It will be interesting to see if we get less rotation as we go into the final stretch as we look for more precision and performance.

That's the beauty of straight knockout cup games it doesn't matter if you play amazingly and win 6 nil or play poorly and win one nil. Its still the same outcome.

There's millions and millions of fans out there who support clubs who are lucky to win 6-10 games a season and we are looking for perfection in every game despite being in 4 competitions still.

I love a moan as much as the next person but let's be honest we're in a pretty good place at the moment.

i thought Forest were pretty good with a lot of huffing and puffing. Virj actually looked hurried a couple of times but i thought to say we had 7 changes we pinged the ball about really well How some of the forest back four didn't get booked though is amazing as they were really physical. I was disappointed with Jota who really looks good off the bench but not great when he starts. so for the upcoming games i would revert to type of the best front 3 of Mane Bobby and Salah with Diaz and Jota to come off the bench. At the end of the day its about the result not the performance. On to the next game YNWA.

Ed0666 if I may (Clears throat) Jota was was horrendous simple. Apart from his goal he did absolutely nothing for the good of the team. His control was dire, his passing and link up play was atrouschus. He was also up there with Bruno Moan-andez for yes you guessed it MOANING. let's just say he didn't have a good game and leave it at that lad's 👍.

{Ed0666's Note - you’re being kind mate I’d sell him in the summer. His hubris is frustrating the fu*k out of me. When will these dumb pundits stop eulogizing about him. He needs to fix up or do one.

But he’s scored more than Ronaldo 😂 so I don’t really know what you do with him, if he keeps playing totally rubbish and winning us every game then I’ll take it.

Would we prefer Jota to do nicer passes and not score any goals and end up drawing the games he’s won us or him to score goals.

Possession definitely helps to win games. But goals definitely do.

Jota hasn't really been great at link up plat since arriving. He's got worse lately but hopefully it's just him being rusty after an injury and his moaning is frustration that he's not playing as well as before. I've personally liked Mane up top which hopefully will be the case against Watford.

Ed066 Im sure Wiji used to give nicer passes but he was then accused of going missing or only passing it sideways.

I agree though Jota’s link up play has been the worst of the 5 recently but his pass completion is about 4% less than Bobbys who seems to be the godfather of not giving the ball away.

Without Jota’s goals we wouldn’t be on for a quadruple. I know that much.

{Ed0666's Note - my point stands if Jota could pass and control the ball we may not have needed his goals to get us out of jail as we would have scored a load more. You are more than welcome to join the bandwagon my friend but I’ll massage his ring-piece when it’s deserved.

{Ed0666's Note - Jota missed at least two good chances to score and scuppered many decent situations. The guy is an absolute liability at the moment and if you don’t think so that’s you’re prerogative mate. In everyday life I champion the cause of truth and justice and I cannot sit back and give false praise. Jota has stunk the place out for a while with his play and if people wanna say to the contrary just because he wears the shirt than that’s their right. I have no axe to grind with the guy I truly hope he plays better because that would benefit the team. Until then I’ll say it how it is. Yes you are correct Bobby missed a sitter but more often than not he puts people in to score. When Bobby is deserving or criticism he gets it from me but in my opinion I would start him ahead of mane through the middle until he doesent deserve it.

Bobby has 1 league goal in his last 10 league games. He also had a good 30 mins against a tired Arsenal defence. If that isn’t playing yourself back into the first 11 form ahead of Mane, Díaz, Jota and Salah then I don’t know what is 🤣.

Couldn't agree more ed666, but tbh the thing that annoys me most about jota isn't just his poor link up play it's the constant flailing of of his arms every 2 seconds when something doesn't go his way, you could mistake him for an injured bird struggling to fly the amount he flaps his arms about! If you compare that to mane for example if something doesn't go his way he sprints straight back to the ball to try and get it back and try again. It's just a difference in attitude, misplaced passes - whilst annoying - are understandable but a rubbishty work ethic is not.

{Ed0666's Note - this flailing of the arms is exactly the point I made on the editors widget on Sunday. It’s just an attempt to con the coaches, his teammates and fans into thinking he’s been fouled. It’s just utter bollox! Whereas when Diaz or Salah get dispossessed what do they do? Diaz especially will run for his life and try and retrieve the ball. Like you say it’s a difference in attitude and its negatively affecting the team. I don’t care how many goals he scores he’s not playing well and is a liability. we have no easy games now until the end of the season they are ALL vital and personally I wouldn’t start him in any game unless he improves.

Jota is a goalscorer. A traditional fox in the box. Will take Jota playing poorly and scoring many goals. There's a reason he was 3rd/ 4th choice on the shortlist. He's a limited player who scores goals. Couldn't have worked out better me thinks.
