Cracking read Ed. Couldn’t agree more. Thought the lads put arsenal to the sword extremely well and didn’t rarely get out of 3rd gear.

I seen some fans suggesting Mane to be brought off before he was sent off but for me Mane is class as playing it right on the edge with his aggression. Yes he was booked but he shows he can give it as well as receive it when it comes to the rough play.

A stat I saw yesterday was this as well. I know they haven’t played lots together but the more we get them on the pitch together the better.

Fab and Thiago have a 100% unbeaten record when starting next to each other in the league.

{Ed001's Note - they work really well as a pair Fabs and Thiago, but they do need a Hendo/Ox type alongside them to make forward runs or it becomes a bit stolid and lacks incision. And I fully agree on Mane, he is at his best when opponents rile him up for me.}

A few players stood out for me.

1. Fabinho - On form he is the best holding midfielder in the league bar none. Shame we don't have a cover.

2. Thiago - Technically he is the best midfielder at LFC. On the ball, he oozes class.

3. OX - That second-half change of tactics is what you should always play with OX and Keita.

4. Tsmiskas - An absolute revelation for me. Closest to Aurelio in terms of crossing today.

Masterclass from Fabinho I think ed001, the whole defence got a day off because of how well he played. Plus everyone else ahead of him seemed to play with confidence and freedom knowing he was there as a safety blanket.

{Ed001's Note - on form he is a brilliant player.}

Thanks very much Ed001, love the match reviews especially after such a good performance. These are the only match reviews I read, they are always honest and insightful. This really is the best place online for football info. Appreciate the work put in by you guys.

{Ed001's Note - thank you very much R23! I really do appreciate that.}

I was at the Brighton game at anfield where they dominated the midfield and should have won
Arsenal have midfielders particularly just as good as Brighton yet couldn’t get near them, so I have come to the conclusion it must be due to coaching -I agree with you ed001 Arteta just isn’t good enough.

Eds, would be keen to get your thoughts on AOC? I think there is a decent player in there once he gets a run of games and he does provide something different and a bit more of a goal threat than the other midfielders. Its just whether he will get a run of games to prove it. Keen to know people's thoughts?

{Ed001's Note - it depends on form and fitness plus there is almost certain to be rotation as the season goes on. So he will get chances, it is up to him to perform like this again.}

Cheers Ed.
The pleasing aspects for me particularly were (1) Ox’s good form, he was my MoM, and let’s hope he can build on that and (2) that much of Thiago’s good work was being an active part of the second half press. He wasn’t as visible as he was in the first, but he contributed fully and allowed the midfield to help put a stranglehold on Arsenal. That’s been a part of his game that has hitherto been criticised but he did well on Saturday.

Great read as usual Ed, only review worth reading you see what some of the so called experts in the press and media say and you wonder if they've watched the same game.

{Ed001's Note - a lot of the time I am not sure they have watched the game, they spend most of their time in the press box typing their report during the game. They miss half the game.}

Great review Ed!

Am I the only one who thought everyone was making too much of Ramsdales saves? Most were straight at him and the type you’d be annoyed if he conceded. And then for the double save, although he did recover, he made a meal of spilling it in the first place.

Then of course he didn’t do well for Manes goal and dived far too early for the Jota goal.

{Ed001's Note - that happens a lot, they get all excited over saves you would expect a top class keeper to make. I guess it is because he is English.}

Fabinho’a looked a little off this season, that performance was his best of the season. I hope he’s coming into form because when he plays well, the entire team does.

Brilliant stuff as always, ED01. Like you, we live and die by the press, end of. When at full pelt, we are the WORST team to play against. Also, I thought Arsenal were who we all thought they were as in, decent vs weaker teams and poor vs much better teams. As for Arteta, the guy has no idea what he is doing. He tries to press us high whereas they are not a pressing team so how long was that supposed to last esp. since our press was spot on? They were always going to fold like a cheap rug. The guy is overrated and clueless, IMO.

Ramsdale? The guy is pants and making the odd good save here or there won't change that, IMO. Same for Partey who was a joke and Saka had an absolute stinker and how he played the whole game, I will never know. Odegaard? Not sure what that guy is good at. Waste of money in my book.

As for our boys, I thought Thiago and Fab were awesome as well and so was Ox who is getting a good run of games and is showing up in them. Hope that continues. Mane? I mean, form is temporary. Class is permanent. Salah is playing Ballon D'Or footie right now and TAA is just well, TAA. On to Porto.

{Ed0666's Note - Personally I feel the Ox is suited to a pressing formation and is not as good when in a possession based set up. So this game was ideal for him to showcase his skills.

Thanks for the review, very good read - the points on the press returning and jota especially. as for arteta and gk, both a little carried away by their recent performances but after an awful start understandable. Artetas reaction to manes challenge was ridiculous. One small point you may have missed . ox's tracking of the runner to block the shot on goal. very easy to be lazy and not track the runner but he did well. could have been a sloppy goal conceded, should continue in the team vs Porto.
