A very frustrating result but I take solace in that Liverpool were just a bit too casual and their own worst enemies, it's not like Brentford exposed a major shortcoming that needs to be rectified in January.

Our back four was largely responsible for dropping points today, yet we wouldn't swap our back four for anyone. These crap results can just happen, oh well.

Quite a lot of our fans seem to want to swap Robbo 😉.

Robbo the new scapegoat aye? Fans are expecting perfection these days; even when we were the best team in Europe by a country mile in the late 70's and 80's were got these type of results. They'll happen, it's how we respond to them. We're top of the prem, still unbeaten (16 games now) . Let's go.

I don’t think it’s getting rid of Robbo per say but based on performance, Tsimikas seems to be doing better this season. Robbo had one great run but apart from that, his defending, crosses and corner were very forgettable.

I actually thought Tsimikas might have been sent on after they equalised. I also thought we could have brought on Gomez into a back 5 after going up 3-2.

Overall, we were great going forward, woeful for most parts at the back (all the goals conceded were in the 6 yard box with the last 2 very identical), even Alisson wasn’t at his best and seemed very beatable, Hendo and Jones actually showed good creativity, and a game to remember for the entertainment but not the result.

Surprisingly were getting bullied at the back by Brentford having a very physical centre forward and others running off him. Usually Matip, Fabinho and VVD would handle that easily but to be fair their forwards did a cracking job.

I felt they also targeted Trent quite a lot, and that final goal he was 3 on 1 at the back post with no chance. I was expecting Klopp to bring on Gomez at RB towards the end (as he used to do regularly in our title winning season) which could have sealed it IMO, but I’m sure we’ll live and learn from this.

Hats off to Brentford though, they played a fantastic game and worth the point.

I think that’s the point SGRed, their forwards played really well and the team as a whole got stuck into us. I think we were a bit off our game because they put pressure on us, at least from an attacking sense. Fair play to them and, as Imsaid earlier another exciting game to watch.

Let’s just credit Brentford a little bit more. We made mistakes and can be unbelievably casual in front of goal at times. But then the front three tonight plus Bobby are not pure strikers with that killer instinct. So forgive them a little for trying more fancy finishes over what an Aguero type finisher would do with their chances. If we were to get a Haaland forward we’d have buried them 6-3. But Brentford’s desire and that atmosphere they create. Well done. Quality side. Rather be watching Brentford over teams like Burnley, Spurs and Newcastle at this moment.

Lots of great points made on here and all I can say is that you all are partially correct. Brentford had a Gale plan and they stuck to it till the end. They saw we were off our game for whatever reason and kept applying pressure where it hurt. We never had ab answer to that and actually I’m not sure anyone was surprised when the equalised. We all saw that coming. Credit to Brentford who played big boy footie. As for the guys scapegoating Robbo, I can agree that he is struggling for form BUT the scapegoating is just tedious stuff that I cannot be arsed about, really.

{Ed025's Note - i thought it was a great advert for the english game oli, blood and guts stuff with a fair share of skill and excitement in abundance..

I thought the whole team were either under par. The back 5 as a collective were very shaky and I’ve not seen our back 5 look like that since the Villa game.

Allison - a few times he chose to punch the ball when it looked easier to catch it. Punching the. All in the area can cause panic because it means that we have to react to win the second ball which isn’t always a guarantee. Catching it kills the attack immediately.

Trent started well and then looked really shaken. He was passing balls into touch and crossing beyond the pitch.

Robbo in current form is our 2nd best stacking left back. Tsmiskas could very well have started yesterday and on his early form should have. However I’ve not seen enough of him defensively against top class opposition to give an answer on whether he is on a par with Robbo in that area.

Matip and Vvd. Both of them probably had nightmares last night about Tony and the other forward. The least said the better.

The only positive for me is everyone has bad games so hopefully that’s theirs over and done with in 1 game rather than spread out individually over a few.

“The other forward” probably deserves a bit more respect eh?

I was super impressed with Brentford already with the way they easily dispatched Arsenal. I knew we would have our hands full with them and boy, did we? They play that brave, big boy footie that I love and the game was end to end stuff. If they are going to go down this season then, they will do it their way and I love that as well. We were not good enough to beat them and I can handle that cos they played brilliantly and I can respect that. Great game for the PL. Not so much for us reds, I guess.
