Morning Eds. Do we still hold interest in Asensio of Real Madrid? Linked in the recent past and if I recall a big fave for Kloppers.
Was then in the press, an £80m price. But now I see linked to Arsenal at £35m. I know prices are press talk but if on this occasion true would he be a good buy? Klopp still want? He's 25 and I believe could play both in midfield and front line. Solving two areas in one purchase. Is he good enough?
Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from the Premier League but not from Liverpool.}

1.) 19 Aug 2021 10:46:23
Thanks ED002. In your opinion is Asensio a decent player that we should be looking to recruit. Considering age and if the £35m is indeed his price. For me when I’ve seen him he’s a YouTube star (lots of moments to post to hype) but in general he’s not all that. Am I wrong? Your thoughts are valued. Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Asensio is a good player but Liverpool has no interest in him.}

Evening all. Well done again for another. Sorry. Yet another day of priceless info. Thanks, we appreciate you so much.

My thoughts on Elliott and wondered if anyone shared. Due to his known wing positions and his skill, yet used now back home during preseason as another central midfield player. Does this add up as Ox replacement rather then cover across our front three?
Just for me it leads to a forward player more do than another midfield player as our main transfer target.

1.) 17 Aug 2021 21:40:31
IMO he seems to lack that extra yard of pace for a winger and therefore maybe more suited to midfield but I may be wrong 😎.

2.) 18 Aug 2021 03:51:09
Agreed 1jj.
Elliott is not slow, but not winger quick.
The bizarre thing is, if Elliott is played in midfield, he’s more like Thiago than Wijnaldum.
He’s not a Wijnaldum replacement by any means, he doesn’t have that mobility.
The more I think of this, the more annoyed I become about signing Thiago.
Elliott could do his job better than he can do Wijnaldum’s.

3.) 18 Aug 2021 06:38:13
So if Thiago gets injured we have the perfect replacement. Why get annoyed about it? It’s good squad management.

4.) 18 Aug 2021 12:30:35
When we have the full midfield together, Thiago wouldn't be playing Gini's role.

Any reason we're looking like Man Utd today? Not seen us in red top black shorts and white socks before?

I can't have it it's doing my head in Grobs lol!

2.) 05 Aug 2021 15:59:19
Bologna are in all white so it’s a bit strange! obviously our away kit bottom half. Maybe they were planning to wear the away kit and had to change.

Great to see Virgil get 44 minutes under his belt.

3.) 05 Aug 2021 16:03:33
It's probably a clash of kits that's all. One team had to change.

4.) 05 Aug 2021 16:34:31
All white v All red? Clash? It’s just too Man U it’s twisting my melon man 😉.

5.) 05 Aug 2021 16:37:28
Sadio has looked sharp all preseason long. Hope it's foretelling a great season ahead for him.

6.) 05 Aug 2021 17:29:15
Jota. Dark horse for golden boot this season.

{Ed025's Note - lame horse more like, he wont play half the games GT..

7.) 05 Aug 2021 18:10:51
Tribute to the 1934 kit.

8.) 05 Aug 2021 19:28:01
It was an unexpected clash of kits. Not one you see often in professional football!

9.) 05 Aug 2021 22:24:12
Kit managers on both teams didn't notice both teams were going to play with white shirts?

I shut off two streams thinking I had stumbled on to a ManU game. Only when the commentator said "Tsimikas crosses the ball" did I have a second look.

Would like to start this by stating that Jordan Henderson is by far my favourite captain. I grew up in the 80s. Hansen was and is a legend. I've met him. He's quality. Very Scottish in the best way. Loved Stevie. That Istanbul final. Many many occasions to feel he was the best. So many black arm band players in between. But Hendo. Wow. See him. Hear him. Watch him. He's beyond so much that noted. By far England's true captain.

I appreciate that the new contract offer should and may actually include an opportunity after playing. Maybe that's my appreciation of him and not fact.
To lose him would be more detrimental then just on the pitch.

But and always a but. If he wants to go. If we have offered something acceptable for a player, regardless of stature, a player who is often injured due to commitment and 30s, but he wants to move then I hope it's smooth and without drama. I also can see Saul link might be Hendos replacement not Ginis. Makes more sense thinking about JH.

I love hendo too but he definitely needs phasing out as we have a very aging squad and we need to refresh over the next coming years. Reduce his playing time this year and next then let him leave I'd say. I can't see him being as fit as milner and he relies too much on his energy and stamina to convert to say a deep lying player. Love the bloke but times ticking.

2.) 23 Jul 2021 14:06:23
Nice post Grobs tash, my take on the situation is as follows, he still has 2 years to run on his current deal so why this whole episode has blown up is beyond me, there is even talk of him leaving before the current season starts= no chance in hell is that happening.

Not many players get to play for liverpool for 10 years and achieve what he has achieved, not only one of our best ever captains but also a world class role model for our next crop of youngsters, he wanted to succeed at liverpool he blocked being forced out and he made sure he had the career here that he wanted through sheer grit and determination.

I will freely admit that i thought we had overpaid for him at the time but gladly i was wrong.
What he brings to the club on and off the pitch is immeasurable but like any other player when the time comes he will be replaced, that time imo is a long way off yet.

3.) 23 Jul 2021 14:35:45
Both millie and Hendo are what our young players should aspire to be in terms of professionalism I'd love both when they retire to be kept on by the club in some capacity top pros top human beings HENDO CAPTAIN FANTASTIC.

Entering silly season full throttle on Monday after Euros finish.
So as with every window I'd like to thank and give some appreciation up front, as 99% here already do and feel, to the Eds. Check this page a few times a day and it's because of you guys and of course fellow posters. I'm addicted to LFC and the curse is a need to know what's happening all the time. Thanks for suppling info and laughs. But mostly thanks for putting up with the countless questions, time and dealing with a few idiots for the next couple of months, more so until December before the next window.
Thank you. Looking forward to a good window. Stay well.

I concur, no amount of praise is enough for the eds of this site and the group of sites as a whole, but that is especially true through the months of July, August and January!

2.) 09 Jul 2021 14:38:46
If it weren't for the Ed's, I would be way more clueless about all things football and LFC especially on and off the field. Thanks to them, I am a lot smarter now. They are a true blessing to me. Bravo, Ed's (even you ED25, lol)! You are all true gems.

Think he’s potentially a top level player. But also think if he returned to a stronger more demanding league now or next year he’ll be squashed and wasted. Good with BD in a league they dominate with Munich. Otherwise not convinced ready to blow EPL away. Yet.

Don’t care. He’s awesome but IMO a massive gamble with huge costs. Think at PSG he’ll continue to thrive. Anywhere else he’s unproven. Old and expensive major expensive at least CR7 gives a little bit of guarantee as he’s played in three top leagues proven record and sells shirts.

He is coming back from injury to be fair. For me, that’s down to Klopp. Love him. Love them both. However, Tzmic the Bubble has been outstanding and fully fit so should have stayed in at LB. On merit and to allow Robbo full time. Even if subbed at 75 or 80. That’s how it should have played out. In fairness no ones fault. Klopp wants his best against the best. Robbo would never give less then 100% and if he can’t see the pass then that pass ain’t on. No one should start to throw shade towards any of our players or staff considering the job they’re doing with the constraints they’re under.

Fit squad? Realistic injuries that most always get? Ox, Taki and Keita stretch their usual preseason for the actual season? Then 1st or 2nd. FA Cup as we have 2 quality players for every position if the above requirements are met. CL semis. Final IF PSG and Chelsea get knocked out before semis.

Rather hit Chelsea early and whatever will be. For me it’s who finishes above Chelsea will be champions so if we do lose it’s hardly a sucker punch.

What’s so funny ED025? Really? This team won the premiership, champions league and world club cup. Are they not all conquering because the caribo cup isn’t listed there? What are the three highest club tournaments/ titles available to European teams? League. Champions league and by being that world club cup. Which includes the current best from outside Europe. We won it all. Think it’s just usual bitter laughter from someone who’s team haven’t been in the running for any of those for over 35 years.

Grobs tash

{Ed025's Note - you have won the league once in 30 odd years GT, so dont give me all that old pony mate..
