Great article. You have a real way of words with your story telling. I’m starting to think Prince Harry missed a trick with his selection of ghost writer.

{Ed001's Note - cheers g1d, I am not sure I would have been the best choice for him though, I have never written fiction...}

Great insight into the man, Ed. I was to be born long after Paisley had moved on from management, so I never got to see his teams play, but you only need a brief glance at his career to understand that he was possibly the greatest coach of all time - his success in a comparatively short career was mind-boggling.
In your opinion, Ed, what separates him from the likes of Ferguson and Clough, if at all?

{Ed001's Note - what truly separates him from the other greats is his humility. All the others, for good reason to be fair to them, border on arrogant, Paisley could never ever be accused of even coming close to that.}

When you consider how knighthoods are thrown about these days it's incredible to think he was never considered. How many trophies in his time is astounding!

The lack of a knighthood is definitely political. I am not sure if anyone in football is more deserving. Maybe Busby. Maybe.
I remember the Sofia loss well. I seem to recall there was a massive incident with the landing in Bulgaria. It was snowing and I think Hansen commented many years late that some of the players thought that was it for them. Scary.

Excellent Bob Paisley trilogy Ed. Did he start the 85-86 season as director? I vaguely remember someone telling me he was brought in to advise Kenny and that coincided with the upturn in form. I don't know how accurate that info is like.

{Ed001's Note - I did mention in one of them he spent the first 2 years of Kenny's reign as his advisor. Kenny took the job only after Paisley agreed to advise him.}
