Good morning Ed (afternoon where you are I suspect) . I'm curious as to what business you believe Liverpool may be looking to do in January. I've seen the posts with specific names, but was curious as to what the team will actually seek to address.

I would think the team would still be interested in a CB. I don't see midfield as a priority at the moment with the summer business and the good form of Jones.

Any insight would be very much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - I don't expect too much, perhaps CB and DM/CM. They will think about the departure of Salah as well.}

Ed002, do you think Salah leaving next summer is very likely to happen? No chance of say a one year contract extension to then allow him to stay an additional year?

The way he’s still playing I wonder if he’d like to stay in the premier league a little bit longer.

{Ed002's Note - I would expect him to leave for the Middle East.}

Would the DM be Andre or has someone else moved up the list?

{Ed002's Note - here are a number of options available.

Cheick Doucoure (DM/CB) Has major language issues that need resolving in the coming months. Crystal Palace have told Monaco, who want him to replace Fofana if he departs, that he is not for sale but will discuss offers over £70M. Clearly a deterent and beyond what anyone would pay. Liverpool may still see him as an option, but not at that price.

Andre Trindade (DM) Recommended to Liverpool as Fabinho cover a couple of years ago. Arsenal have scouted the player and may well make a move prior to the January Window. Prior interest of Barcelona and Braga has gone. Fulham are keen to take him if Bayern Munich return and they lose Palinha and Liverpool consider him as an option for January - but there is a huge catch for interested parties who have been told must be resolved before approaching Fluminense. Fluminense only own 80% of his rights and that would need to be resolved. They will also seek perhaps €40M including add ons.

Ezequiel Fernandez (DM) After losing out on Boca youngster Alan Varela, Benfica have turned to another Boca youngster, Ezequiel Fernandez, as a potential Florentino replacement - Fernandez is also interesting Milan and Liverpool who had him watched by an ex-PL player who is now a very high-end scout. Would be an option to Andre Trindade.

Manu Kouadio Kone (CM/DM) Prior interest of Milan has gone. Newcastle did approach Borussia Muenchegladbach but they will resist a sale although Newcastle remain keen. RBL were keen to add Kone to replace Laimer but that interest, like the interest of Bayern Munich has gone. Juventus and Liverpool may have a continuing interest but I expect both to look elsewhere.

Khephren Thuram (DM/CM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs in the summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs, Liverpool and, in particular, Juventus remains. Interest of Newcastle will likely fall away. If interest further grows his price will rise and the club would sell given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka and an impressive youngster in Reda Belahyane.

Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City, out. Player wants PSG but they have no interest at this time - but his representative is pushing PSG and will encourage the player to wait out the year and see what happens.

Eljif Elmas (CM) Napoli claimed earlier in the year that Klopp had made a direct approach to the player - Liverpool seemed to have now stepped back.
Assan Ouedraogo (CM/DM) Much is expected of the kiddie and Schalke will try and fend off interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich who want to take him at 18 in the summer and have both spoken with his club.

Schalke has also said that they are aware that an "agent" representing the underage player has been approached by someone representing Liverpool and that they have written to the club asking for this to stop.}

Could Trindade be a January option Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, but others are interested in him as well.}

Why on earth would salah want to play in that league, I've watched a couple of games, it's absolutely horrendous, like exhibition games, and as little as 650 at some games. He looks after himself so well, gets paid a fortune and seems like a guy who loves the competition, not the rubbish on offer over there.

I bet he could give you about 150,000,000 million reasons port red.

Salah can goto SA anytime, even when he's 40. He has records to break and trophies to win in actual, real life, competitive football before any of that malarchy.

To be fair Port Red - I don’t think anybody has actually put forward any proof that Salah wants to play in the League.

I suspect the club will look to tie salah down for another few years if that doesn’t look to be the case I suspect we will take the money and reinvest it just makes the most sense as a business. As for football reasons I want salah here as long as possible and as long as he’s playing as well as he is although his last 2 games have been poor performances I think from him by his standards but he still has 3 goals in them games so as long as he’s producing these numbers etc he’s still the main man in attack for us.

Surely the money Salah earns from sponsorships will drop if he leaves Liverpool and that is rumoured to be more than his salary.

Why would salah want to leave, a league that has massive crowds and the most competitive and somewhere you can still prove your the best, to go to a league with crowds in averages with the lower Scottish leagues and is just a retirement league, Salah as plenty of years to go to Saudi.

Salah needs to have a word with Hendo to see the size of crowds he is playing in front of, pitiful. As for the money he is worth about 100 million now so can’t see money being a factor or maybe I’m missing something.

Just so long as Mo doesn’t speak to Hendo about tax free wages and perks like free flights for himself and his family for the rest of their lives …

I have to say that Mo doesn’t look like someone who wants out to me.
