Looks like the Quatari's have dropped Liverpool interest, and going for Utd instead. So financially we are miles behind City, Newcastle, Chelsea and Utd. They will be able to buy which players they want, and it looks like we will get into a fight with Arsenal and Spurs for what's left.

{Ed025's Note - well maybe not city elliot..

Arsenal will be alright for a while i think, we’ve given them a blueprint of exactly what not to do when you get to the top of the league.

Arsenal and Spurs? I don’t think we’ll even compete with them. It’ll be back to the 80’s fighting with Everton for players. With both of us at the wrong end of the table.

1. nothing has happened even remotely officially.
2. They’ve been buying every player they want for over a decade. So no change there.

Fsg want a minority sale! They want to keep fsg it’s a cash cow for them!
I’d not want to sell myself!
I’d love oil rich owners but I’ll keep fsg as long as they dip into their pockets and invest in the squad! But then again klopp says he’s happy with it so maybe it’s his fault I dunno!
Or else no investment and it’s like the 90’s again and we fall decades behind?

“It’ll be back to the 80’s fighting with Everton for players. ”

You mean when both teams were the best? What a stupid comparison.

I love that we haven’t got rid of FSG yet but already whoever comes in is already not going to be good enough as they aren’t the golden Middle East cash cow. Unbelievable.

Let’s get our own house in order before we start having panic attacks before anyone else.

If you look back a couple of years you had City, United and Chelsea spending piles of money and for the past four or five years you had City and Liverpool evenly matched.

If you look forward two or three years you will have City, United, Chelsea and Newcastle spending piles of money - not a lot of change there really - with the only difference being that any massive amount of money Newcastle she’ll out will potentially dilute the quality of massively overpriced players that the other three sign on.

We built a team that was - for about a year - 18 months - the best team on the planet. We built it by ‘buying the right players at the right price’ (with one or two exceptions - noticeably Naby) .

The difference is we built a squad / team that worked well - the sum of the whole was greater than the sum of the parts - unlike Chelsea or United and even City. The vision to see what could be done and the skill to carry it out belonged to Jurgen Norbert Klopp, with the backing of his support staff and the owners of the club. If he still has the appetite we can do it again.

Have a bit of faith Redmen,

Very well said WDW
Ffp if applied properly especially the new rules coming in should level the field even more . (again if their not exploited)

I have a feeling Wel be ok
We are Liverpool football club
Absolute powerhouse of football
We just need stability and the right people in the right positions in the club

The team needs support not more negativity.

Jay Jay. Fsg did not take Mike Gordon away from running the club for a minority sale, as ed02 said they are looking to a full sale, despite what people want to believe.

Some fans are happy Liverpool fc is righteous and not tainted by oil $, definitely worth sacrifice of to be out of all competitions and languishing in mid table.

“I love that we haven’t got rid of FSG yet but already whoever comes in is already not going to be good enough“

I’m sure you’ll be saying that next season too, after another relatively barren summer, when we line up in August with the largely the same team and largely the same squad as this season, getting largely the same insipid results, only without champions league football.

FSG don’t have the money (or inclination) pto make the changes needed as their priority is getting their money back, not the success of the club, the two things not being mutually exclusive, as they’ve found with the Redsox.

Some very hard decisions need to be taken in the summer if we are to get back to the top, decisions that mean a lot of money would need to be spent. Gomez, Matip, Phillips, Williams, Henderson, Jones need to be sold. Milner, Ox, Keita released. Kelleher will probably want to leave for first team football. There’s a reasonable question as to whether VVD and Salah should both be sold given their ages. Thiago doesn’t have many more miles left in him and Bajcetic is the only centre midfielder we’ve got who is worth keeping. So that’s two good quality, robust centre halves, at least three top quality centre midfielders and a competent back up keeper, as a minimum. And that’s without factoring the possibility of selling Salah and/ or VVD as you’d then have to buy like for like replacements in quality.

I very much doubt that FSG’s £50m plus sales is going to get very far (any serious idea that there’s a £200m plus sales “warchest” when we’re very unlikely to have qualified for the champions league is somewhere between delusional and laughable) and I very much doubt that the likes of Bellingham will be considering coming to a team in such disarray and in such alarming decline, there looks to be no money to fix things and no plan to put it right.

It’s looking like mid table obscurity from this season onwards unless something drastically changes, which looks unlikely as things stand.

And yes, it’s entirely reasonable to write off the likes of Redbird, HBSE, Ricketts family and Stephen Pagliuca, as their overall track records of sports club ownership is poor at best (ask Milan fans about Redbird, they’ll soon tell you how much they’re hated) . The fact that Pagliuca, Ricketts and HBSE were binned off as not being remotely suitable for Chelsea should ring alarm bells that they’re not good enough for us.

Redbird increasing their stake in FSG would make no tangible benefit to us whatsoever. The last time they bought a stake in FSG, FSG went out and bought an NHL team. All that will happen is FSG will expand their portfolio into the NBA.

If mid table mediocrity is what you want, then you’re certainly going to enjoy watching us continue under FSG or fall under the ownership (or co ownership) of any of the interested parties listed above, as that’s all they can deliver because there isn’t a Coutinho for them to sell.

{Ed001's Note - how can RedBird's record at Milan be brought into this? How can Milan fans hate them when they only took them over in the summer? If you are going to try and make claims try not to make them nonsense please.}
