Looks like Ruben Neves is on the move, could be a great move for us, hope it is, ?.

we are interested and monitoring the situation but is he the right player.

He could be a good long term Thiago replacement. Doesn’t have the same bite but some of the passes he was playing at Anfield were unbelievable.

Hopefully to Anfield, with someone going the other way.

Exactly what we don't need right now. If we sign him then Klopp really has had his body snatched by Pep Lijnders.

Well if we are to play this new way then Neves would certainly be a better suit. If we go back to our aggressive best then there would be better suits out there. Horses for courses and all that.

I’d take neves, there’s only Thiago who’s better but he’s ageing.

I agree with Fly, we have enough ‘steady’ midfield players, what we need is legs. I know Caceido is unlikely but he’s the type of pressing midfielder we need.

Neves certainly puts his foot in, he has the most yellow cards (seven) in the premier up to now, equal with five others on seven yellows.

There have been 15 sending offs in the premier so far, all of the 15 players sent off are equal on one red card each.

Wolves and Chelsea are on top of the red card premier league with both clubs having three men sent off this season (Neves is not one of the red cards) .

Not a chance really can’t see FSG spending anymore.

I don’t think it’s a case of fsg not spending it’s that the player/ players they want are not available this window . let’s be honest our players and team should be capable of playing better so the club aren’t spending their way out this mess coach it out (hopefully) and then see us improve and also sign out top targets in the summer.

The squad is full of ponderous midfielders, surely even Pep doesn’t want another one. We need physicality, dynamism our best chance is to go back to what made us successful and blow teams away.

If the decision to move to a possession-based system is true, then by god we are pretty awful with the ball too. Do we actually work on any attacking patterns at all in training? We look like strangers thrown together.

I’d agree with that Dhfc I do think there is money available but they are not panicking because of a bad half a season where we’ve had lots of injuries. Rightly so in my opinion.
What I would say is if we had unlimited funds like Newcastle, City, Chelsea I think we probably would add to the squad now but as we don’t have unlimited funds that would then limit us come the summer when we go after our preferred targets.
People expecting us to spend, spend and spend again are living in cloud cuckoo land.

January window is always a difficult time to buy players without paying over the odds. Anthony Gordon £45million being a prime example.

Newcastle have been well and truly mugged!

Newcastle probably need to beef up the HG quota for CL next season tbf. They have loads already but you’d assume most of them will be moved on the likes of Shelvey Lascelles Lewis etc. Gordon definitely overpriced but Almiron is almost 29 probably looking at phasing him out soon.
