I know it is not Liverpool related, but I saw on Reddit (I know. ) that Rb Leipzig might be in a bit of financial trouble with FFP. It was stated they need to sell players quickly. I have no idea how accurate this is but as there is a player many people like there, thought it was worth a mention!

Gvardiol would be one, for starters.

2.) 17 May 2023 15:02:14
He’d be nice Oli, but I’d take a vodka RedBull tbh.

3.) 17 May 2023 18:25:39
Szoboszlai and Olmo are also cool.

{Ed025's Note - i thought they were 2 of the muppets.. :)

4.) 17 May 2023 19:08:05
I'd love Gvardiol as the CB signing. I think Szoboszlai is also a better player than Mount in the AM role.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest in either.}

5.) 17 May 2023 20:32:25
Ed02 - as ever thank you for your updates. What are your thoughts on who Liverpool should go for in the following positions that are attainable:

- goalkeeper
- central defence
- defensive midfield
- attacking midfield
- left wing striker
- right wing striker

I’m assuming here we won’t need any full back additions.

{Ed002's Note -

GK - One to watch - Bart Verbruggen (G)
CB - Evan Ndicka - viable but may be onr. Geat option.
DM - Perhaps Gravenbuerch or Nunes.AM
AM - Perhaps Allister, Mount or Susic perhaps.
LW/RW - Not convinced there is a need.

Anyone else do a google search for gianni infantino with hair after this rant? I haven't been able to find anything yet! ;)

Andros

1.) 20 Nov 2022 18:17:48
I’m picturing a cross between Mick Hucknell and Uncle Fester.

2.) 20 Nov 2022 18:51:25
Andros, there’s a photo on the internet of the dude clearly with brown hair (in his pre slap head days) . He’s about as ginger as Joey Ramone. Another Infantino lie. (Once again the internet remains undefeated) .

3.) 20 Nov 2022 19:57:15
How old was he in the pic with brown hair though?

4.) 20 Nov 2022 23:12:33
I googled countries that have legislation prohibiting rights for people with red hair. Couldn't find anything either.

5.) 20 Nov 2022 23:17:17
Bo Selecta did an excellent little skit on "gingerism".

Looking at the table: the losses to Leeds and Nott Forest hurt. A win in both those games and we are 5th, 1 point behind spurs with a game in hand. Bright side however is that we are not that far off and a good run can see us back up there in the hunt.

Andros

1.) 07 Nov 2022 07:01:34
Like the performance yesterday, we’re a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde team at present.
It’s a strange case indeed but a win at Tottenham is welcomed anytime.

2.) 07 Nov 2022 07:07:13
You can’t worry about all our bad performances and dropped points this season. It would drive you crazy. We have been terrible but will get a lot better.

3.) 07 Nov 2022 08:39:17
OP, what's is done is done. No point dwelling on it cos apart from lessons to be learned, there is only misery to be gained there, IMO. Time to look forward and hope we can finish strong before the WC break.

4.) 07 Nov 2022 08:39:53
Lets take it this way and say we lost to Spurs and The Citizens then those losses are nothing but my worry is our pattern of play which seems like we're a team that you can not predict what the result will be in the end, yesterday we could have easily conceded in the end and drawn that match even more i don't know whether its tiredness or just failing to hold on to a lead.

5.) 07 Nov 2022 10:32:53
We didn't fail to hold onto a lead yesterday though.
And as much as we could have conceded again, we could easily have scored again too.
I'm not too sure that many will agree with losses to Spurs and City being classed as nothing, thankfully it didn't turn out that way.

6.) 07 Nov 2022 10:53:28
It did seem like complacency was evident v Leeds and Forest.

05 Nov 2022 17:01:06
I know it is not Liverpool related, but thoughts on the penalty on de bruyne vs fulham?

Andros

1.) 05 Nov 2022 17:34:27
Have to give it cos there's"contact"but definitely not enuf to make a 6 foot man launch himself into something that would belong in Swan Lake.

2.) 05 Nov 2022 17:46:01
Didn't see it yet but thought a 95th minute penalty was rather fortunate fs, wouldn't be like them though lol.

3.) 05 Nov 2022 19:14:28
Contact doesn’t automatically mean a penalty. Should have been booked for simulation. The contact didn’t stop him from getting to that ball.

4.) 05 Nov 2022 19:16:47
Honestly he ‘touched’ him but it’s a dive. He’d lost the ball anyway, really poor decision again. We can’t buy a penalty as a lot of other teams can’t but when you see them given for things like this it’s a bit of a farce. I’d say this is worse than the one against us at arsenal.

5.) 05 Nov 2022 19:59:36
If the same happen Firmino tomorrow in the 95th minute you all wouldn't want it given then?

6.) 05 Nov 2022 20:38:18
OMM, irrelevant of if we would want it, do you think it would be given? The refs have a habit of bailing out City when they’re struggling. Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Vs Wolves, Arsenal, and Everton last season, seems a few too many to me.

{Ed025's Note - but if you look over the last five years FF…penalties given where a player dived and feigned injury….Man City 7 ,Liverpool 35..

7.) 05 Nov 2022 20:49:04
Can’t believe you’ve been keeping count of Liverpool’s penalties Ed, that kind of obsession is not good for you bud. ?.

{Ed025's Note - it’s people in glass houses and all that FF. or maybe it’s just me having a bad day mate.. ?

8.) 05 Nov 2022 21:07:33
Penalties not given to the opposition, no comment!

9.) 05 Nov 2022 21:34:19
Two wrongs don't make a right, if that was for us I'd say we've got a way with one. Refs need to start not giving these or they will just continue. We have seen much clearer pens not given because they have been adjudged to 'leave a leg in', and this one should of been overturned.

Before VAR, I'd say he's a been conned but you'd get how he's missed it. But now someone watches that back and thinks that's OK? It's an awful decision imo and highlights the problems with officiating in the league. As I say, if they keep giving them, players will keep doing it and he praised as smart for doing so.

10.) 05 Nov 2022 22:09:42
Nobody said two wrongs make it right though did they? If it happens in the 95th minute for us tomorrow we'll all be delighted, whether contact is minimal or not. Nobody on here will be complaining about the ref or VAR.

11.) 05 Nov 2022 22:51:01
‘If’ is the point OMM. For City it seems more like when. As I said earlier it may just be coincidence, the more it keeps happening though the less it seems like coincidence. Maybe I’m just being paranoid though.

12.) 05 Nov 2022 21:07:48
To be fair Ed all teams get penalties that other teams fans don’t think should have been given, but do you not think it’s getting a bit much with City now. What about that one not given to your lot last season? Bit odd don’t you think?

{Ed025's Note - as you say FF it happens quite a lot these days with the cheating culture in football. I don’t think city are any worse than the rest of the clubs though mate even though Liverpool fans would hope that was the case. It’s up to managers to tell their players not to cheat and for the refs to be sterner with punishments but it seems that it’s an acceptable part of the game in recent years which is very sad..

13.) 06 Nov 2022 09:11:31
Morning ed25. I don't mean to act the smartarse with u but could u tell me last time liverpool got a pen they should'nt have? Reason I ask is city got 2 horrendous pens last season against Everton and wolves both where crucial to result of games. city great team and I personally like Guardiola and the football his teams play. but I geniunely can't mind liverpool getting 1 like that, even if not crucial to result.

{Ed025's Note - the thing is digger that anyone at the top always get this accusation of favouritism. I think it’s just jealousy mate and that happens. For a few years when you were at the top mo was diving every game getting free kicks and penalties and then mane took over the mantle. You were known as liVARpool because of the favourable way that referees treated you and now it’s city..

14.) 06 Nov 2022 09:24:21
Fair play Ed, if you see it as everyone being treated the same. Just seems to me that City seem to get a decision in their favour just when they need it to get the points. Maybe it’s just me though, I’ll get the tin foil hat out. ?.

{Ed025's Note - I think Liverpool get just as many favourable decisions as city FF. ….but you just moan more ..?

15.) 06 Nov 2022 14:21:28
You don't think city are any worse than the rest of the clubs? come on Ed, you can't believe that. All of the teams cheat, but city and spurs seem to have almost perfected it.

{Ed025's Note - Liverpool are still getting more than their fair share of dodgy decisions stone. All the teams at the top get looked after by the officials and VAR mate it’s just the way it is..

16.) 06 Nov 2022 23:59:48
De Bryune dived - end of. Naturally, the muppets on Match of the Day never even mentioned it.

There is an interesting video on YouTube by Tifo looking at our defensive issues. "What's wrong with Liverpool's defense? "

Andros

1.) 02 Oct 2022 07:21:03
Poor individual performances compounded by a lack of cohesion in midfield. U can add a complete lack/ loss of confidence within the team to that basket as well, imo.

I agree with Jordz here, this would be a bit of a kick in the teeth for the youngsters. Jones needs game time, this could be a message for him (and others) to start looking for aa new club.

A quick look on wikipedia shows that Noa Lang got into trouble for signing an anti-semitic song with fans. It was investigated and he refused to apologize. In the link to the article says that "He would rather die than be a ____". That is some serious baggage.

Hi Ed01, no chance of a retirement visa in the phillipines? Seems not that difficult to get. If I understand it correctly: you need to keep $10,000US in an approved retirement account and have a monthly retirement benefit of $1500US. Also only 35 years old.

Andros

{Ed001's Note - no, it is not really the issue anyway. I need to be nearer my family, my dad is no longer himself. He needs something to look forward to and he loves visiting Dubai so it is good for him for me to be there.}

According to wikipedia: In March 2016, Liverpool announced Ayre would step down as CEO at the end of May 2017, when his current contract expired.

According to liverpool. com: Remember the summer of 2018/ 19? Constantly updating James Pearce’s Twitter feed. Hourly updates. The content mill pushing into overdrive. Will he, won’t he? It was the transfer that was, then never was: Nabil Fekir to Liverpool.

So Ayre had left before that happened.

According to liverpooloffside. sbnation. com who were discussing what fekir's agent had said: “Nabil was Liverpool’s priority, ” the agent said. “I worked for four months with the Liverpool representatives, with [Liverpool manager] Jurgen Klopp, [Lyon President] Jean-Michel Aulas, everything was ready.

“It was surreal. We thought that we were in a Walt Disney film. ”
”Nabil was already aware of his future contract, which would have seen him earn around €45m (£40m) over five years.

”And on the day that the contract was supposed to be signed, at Rambouillet, we saw a lawyer and Nabil’s brother-in-law arrive who said: ‘Stop everything, discussions have to start all over again. ’

Bernes did admit that Fekir’s history of knee injuries were a factor in discouraging the Reds from sealing the deal, but said that the shambolic nature of the final negotiations was the final straw:

”There were two elements, ” he continued, explaining why the transfer failed. “The player’s medical was negative and the second element was that when you want to sign for a big club like Liverpool, you need a certain attitude.

”When the Liverpool guys witnessed this cinema, they immediately—sometimes when a player has an injury, representatives can make an effort to make it work. ”

I am certainly not in the know, just a quick look on the internet. perhaps others have better info.

2006 for me. I came late to football as I am from a country that doesn't play a lot of football. In 2006 I was working in Italy when Italy won, so I got to experience all the emotion and celebration. I actually saw the rolling stones in concert a few months after the world cup in Milan, and they showed the penalty shootout then sang you can't always get what you want. great time! But that penalty against us in the round of 16 was never a penalty!
