Having a lazy Saturday afternoon, I thought I'd search google to see how some of the academy prospects have got on since leaving Liverpool over the years. Really surprising to see players like Michael ngoo and Adam Morgan going from real prospects to literally having no clubs wanting to sign them. Both free agents.

I remember Morgan being touted by fowler as an amazing natural finisher, playing for the first team with a bright future in front of him! It really brings into context just how thin the line is between success and failure - what a difference a couple of years can make. Hopefully these kids get the education they need when young for life outside of football.

Can anyone else think of other promising youngsters, and where they've gone on to?

Ngoo was never a prospect he had 2 attributes height and strength he had no footballing qualities whatsoever. Morgan could finish but was vastly over rated simply because he's Scouse in the same way the likes of jack Dunn is now. If Dunn was from anywhere else on the planet he'd have been released years ago.

Jezza Kyle I think that has to go down as one of the worst posts I've ever read on this site! Why on earth would the fact that he may or may not be scouse come into consideration when the club comes round to keeping player on the roster or not?

3.) 16 Jul 2016 19:33:11
Isn't it strange that supporters have a preference fro scouse players from Liverpool?

Exactly what I've whinged about for ages on here!

People just do not get it and our game has been ruined.

Eds, there's a few sites saying that we had a £14.4m bid for Vidal rejected recently. That's quite a specific number to be totally BS. but is it? If it's true it would be another example of the embarrassing type of low bids we've been putting in over the last few years - he's worth a lot more, so why not bid a sensible amount to start with? Cheers

Fowler99

{Ed002's Note - That would have equated to €20M a few days ago - a little over half the asking price.}

1.) 21 May 2015 21:09:15
Well at least Rodgers can't get the blame for that. What is the objective of putting in such low bids? I just don't get it at all! Not that Vidal would have accepted anyway.

2.) 21 May 2015 21:41:14
Start low and hope we don't anger the other team is our philosophy!

To be fair we don't have the money to go in with a huge bid, but imagine we bid 40m and (not that we would find out like) could of gotten the player for half of that! So I do understand it, but what I find is we start low with no intention to go higher, it would be alright if we would go to the acceptable amount!

Makes me feel like brendans asked for said player and the club do a bid like that and then go back and say "oh we tried" lol

3.) 21 May 2015 22:42:39
Start low and work up like with Lallana. Or take it as it is and completely false. Ed002 stated a few days back Vidal won't be joining Liverpool just like with Depay with United no point even getting our hopes up that we could be linked with a top player like Vidal

4.) 21 May 2015 23:16:22
Very much believable considering Liverpool's transfer tactics of joke bids to annoy the 'selling' club

And que the awkward John W Henry letter to the fans explaining just why we failed to sign a fantastic player. I'm so gutted over this - I think he would have been just right for us. I think Ayre probably did all he could to get the deal done - but is obviously constrained by the agent fees ect. It's clear that we will not be able to sign these kind of players, especially if other clubs are involved, and are usually willing to pay the agent fees. I think we can get 4th, but still would have loved him to have signed. Gutted.

Ahh so frustrating about Salah. 'A fee of around 11 million' say . Could we really not afford that for a player with huge potential? We have been 'negotiating' for 3 weeks, if we couldn't afford him then we needed to move one and get someone else. There was always going to be interest from elsewhere at that price. Ed001, is this down to Ian Ayre? It just seems like we are only able to sign players who nobody else is interested in.

Fowler99

{Ed001's Note - no, there is a lot involved, including a player who wasn't particularly keen on a move to us, as well as a worry regarding our transfer policy.}

I think we saw yesterday and against Swansea why we need Joe Allen playing. Gerrard, Hendo and Lucas are all far too slow on the ball - Gerrard especially. We need midfielders who are able to link the play quickly and then slow it down when they need to. So many times Agger was looking to pass to a midfielder with none seemingly even trying to make themsleves available. Thought Gerrard was shocking - BR should tell him. We need 4/4 wins next so need to pick up the level of possession and pressing - nowhere near as good as last season so far.

I'd be really surprised if he got the boot - basically all the media are saying he is safe - it would put quite a negative spin on the club which I'm sure they are keen to avoid again. I would absolutely love it if he were though. fingers crossed they just do it

One thing is for sure, Flanno wouldn't cut it at first choice right back. His overlapping of the winger in attack is non existent - a key component in Klopps preferred setup. In reality he's a back up - we'd need to replace Clyne.
