Hi Eds, Happy New Year to you all! I know there’s been a lot about Salah and possible replacements, is there any chance he could get another extension even if it’s just an additional year to coincide with Klopps at the end of the 2026 deal?

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - I very much expect him to take the offer and run in the summer.}

1.) 01 Jan 2024 23:12:32
The offer from liverpool and run? Or the offer from saudi?

{Ed002's Note - What offer from Liverpool?}

2.) 02 Jan 2024 07:04:08
He's ready for the footballing graveyard, as opposed to a few more season's and breaking records? He has enough money for 10 generations.

Guessing its about building schools and hospitals in Egypt then.

3.) 02 Jan 2024 07:22:05
Basically Ed is saying Mo wants to retire from competitive football after this season. Don’t blame him he has ran the Prem for a long time now and deserves to sun it up.

4.) 02 Jan 2024 10:28:52
He could hit 20+ goals 20+ assists in the prem this season. Only ever been done by Henry.
I just can’t see him going to Saudi. He’s just too good.

5.) 02 Jan 2024 11:17:29
Ed002, do you have any idea how much will be offered? Still talking over 100m?

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know but one would think it will be a decent amount.}

6.) 02 Jan 2024 12:59:13
Thanks Ed, much appreciated.

18 Sep 2020 10:14:47
Ed’s - after a busy few days with Thiago we seemed to be linked with every winger/ forward going. I know Ed002 has said we need to clear out players before we look to get anymore in, but there seems to be a link with Ousmane Dembele on loan which from memory was one of the forwards enquired for a few months back. Is there any truth to a potential loan move, guessing it would have to be a loan to buy potential replacement for Salah in the future.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - Ousmane Dembele (LW/RW/F) Barcelona could be stuck with the player as it is unlikely other clubs will match their valuation and his recent injury may be a problem in terms of proving fitness - unless he can be used as part of another transfer, loaned or the price drops considerably. Liverpool had enquired after his price earlier in the but likely only want a loan with an option to buy - if that were to become an obligation to bu then it could be possible. PSG would resist his involvement as part of a deal for Neymar and Barcelona have moved on from him. Juventus could be open to a loan but will not want to buy the player. This could be very disruptive to other transfer plans. Player is not keen on leaving Barcelona and has been working hard to prove himself to the new coach.}

1.) 18 Sep 2020 11:07:19
Dembele and working hard aren’t words I would think go in the same sentence.

2.) 18 Sep 2020 10:40:30
Like you said in the past ED02, He is a player Klopp rate pretty high. How do you rate him as a player? He had tremendous hype when he was at BVB.

cheers.

{Ed002's Note - Overpriced when he left Borussia Dortmund and has had lots of difficulties but working hard to impress RK.}

3.) 18 Sep 2020 11:24:52
Ed2, do you think Liverpool still have the interest in Dembele or would our approach for Sarr (if there has been one) likely mean we’ve moved on?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I would think interest in Dembele remains.}

4.) 18 Sep 2020 12:43:10
Thanks, mate. Not sure what made Klopp fall for the guy.

5.) 18 Sep 2020 15:00:49
Thanks for the reply Ed. Would you think interest remains for this window? Also, would the obligatory fee be massive or reasonable? Are Barcelona prepared to take a loss on Dembele?

Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not in a position to buy the player.}

24 Jul 2020 13:00:51
Hi Ed’s hope all is well. With the season finally closing in and movements starting to happen, I know it looks like money is really stretched if any at all with a centre back prioritised but is there a list anywhere of the players being looked at in the versatile forward areas for Shaqiri leaving possibly and maybe even Origi by the sounds of it.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of new targets Alex.}

1.) 24 Jul 2020 19:10:38
From memory Rashica has been mentioned a few times however seems like he could be on his way to Red Bull Leipzig is this right or just the usual Twitter people. I remember Tsyhankov name mentioned also at one point have either been looked at any further or has C.V. and budget issues put this sort of stuff to a halt.

{Ed002's Note - Yopu can forget both.}

24 May 2016 13:40:29
Eds just wondering if there is any update on Canos. Ed002 advised he had offers on the table and a lot of reports saying he wants to move on now.

Alex4

{Ed001's Note - last I heard he was considering his future and leaning towards leaving. There are loans and permanent move possibilities available to him, I know Frank McParland wants to take him to Rangers, for instance.}

1.) 24 May 2016 14:08:43
What are your opinions on the lad, Ed001? Do you think he has the quality and attitude to make it at the top-level?

{Ed001's Note - no, I don't think he has right now. I think he is far too happy to think he has done enough and coast. He needs a few knockbacks to teach him the value of hard graft, like has happened with the Leicester players. Canos is a by product of the academy era, too easy a life meaning players don't have that desire and hunger needed to really go all the way.}

2.) 24 May 2016 14:14:45
Although this is sad news if he does depart, it does show how far our academy has come from a few years back where everyone was usually being released or for nominal fees!

hopefully we will see more of a return on initial investments if players aren't going to make it in our first team!

3.) 24 May 2016 14:19:51
Eds are there ever buy back clauses inserted by us in the same way the likes of Barcelona put them in with their younger players?

{Ed001's Note - very rarely are they used by English clubs.}

4.) 24 May 2016 15:12:14
Who, this lad? Another one of those delusional youngsters who thinks he can waltz straight into the first team, make 150k a week and have a nike commercial in prime time telly, without breaking a sweat. We got plenty of those unfortunately.

5.) 24 May 2016 16:09:23
I think we're being a little unfair. Maybe he hasn't stepped up enough (or maybe he would if given the chance), but I do remember reading somewhere the Brentford teammates thought he was pretty humble and worked hard. I personally don't think he's ready and prefer to see Ojo given then chance instead but no need to slate the guy.

6.) 24 May 2016 18:13:40
Ojo's attitude needs serious adjustment too. He's got the balls to talk back at Klopp but not the brains to shut up and put up.

7.) 24 May 2016 18:40:13
When did he talk back to klopp? Don't think you have your facts right there mate.

8.) 24 May 2016 22:25:54
Any reason why several of our players have been linked to Watford in the past year? Do they have an ex coach or ex scout of ours? Sinclair left and signed, Ibe was linked in the spring, now Canos is. It sure looks like they don't mind publicly flirting with our young players, promising deals and turning their heads, but they get all upset about Klopp flirting with Zielinski.

10 Jul 2015 16:43:57
I know you're not for Twitter eds but I've seen Sinclair's tweet about sometimes aren't meant to be and exciting times ahead. Just wondering if you have any news on him surely he means just a loan and he's not being sold

Alex4

{Ed001's Note - he is not up for sale, is it not just because he is going on the tour? I thought he was being given a run out in preseason before the decision on this season was made.}

1.) 10 Jul 2015 18:49:17
Hopefully that's the case mate, I've read that he was unable to agree a contract but hopefully it's just not going on the tour and heading on loan

2.) 10 Jul 2015 20:01:50
The tweet could be about anything, not nevessarily footie related. Ridiculous if he's sold though, another Brendaning for young players at the club.

Hi Ed’s, with Jota out of the last few games, Elliot seems to be back at Liverpool is he eligible for the games with us looking short on the ground last few benches.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - No he cannot play - he is a Blackburn player until June 30.}

1.) 17 May 2021 09:11:16
Crazy rule. We could really do with him from the bench.

2.) 17 May 2021 11:01:06
I believe Ed said the other day if the team were willing to terminate the loan he would then be eligible but I'm not sure how that would work etc.

10 Mar 2021 22:01:16
Hi Ed’s, good performance tonight especially from Nat Phillips. Has he been offered a new contract with his ending in the summer or does it look like this is very much a stop gap till the summer? He looks a good, home grown defender, not the most eye catching on the ball but a lot better than some of those out there defensively.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - I would need to check but I thought he signed a new contract before heading on loan to Germany.}

1.) 10 Mar 2021 22:20:30
I'd rather keep Phillips over Matip anyway. Nat has done well when called upon. Very good 4th choice CB to have.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree Matip is made of water needs to be moved on

2.) 10 Mar 2021 22:29:45
Ed002 - thanks for this, just looked and long term deal signed in 2019 but some sites suggesting up in 2021. 2 years wouldn’t usually be considered long term deal in general.

3.) 10 Mar 2021 22:39:13
I'm perfectly happy going into next season with Virgil, Gomez, Kabak and Phillips as the 4 senior centre backs. Let Williams play with Koumetio for the u23's for a year or 2. Matip has to go though as he cannot be relied on at all, and this Davies can't get on the bench ahead of Williams so obviously isn't doing it in training. Sell him back to the Championship for a small profit.

{Ed0666's Note - that’s not a premiership winning centre back quartet mate not even near.

4.) 10 Mar 2021 22:23:16
he only signed a 2 year contract ed so ends this summer. I think he has earned a new contract if not there will be a few teams looking at picking him up on a free transfer and if he does go good luck to him he has not put a foot wrong when picked this season.

{Ed002's Note - OK thanks - I am not aware of interest and he could sign a pre-contract with any side outside England and Wales.}

5.) 10 Mar 2021 23:24:02
Wouldn't sign kabak on what I've seen from him so far. Phillips is definitely a good player to have in the squad but think we still need a quality addition in the summer. Virgil may take time to get up to speed and gomez has yet to make it through a full season.

6.) 10 Mar 2021 23:26:43
Davies was injured so he obviously couldn't be ahead of Rhys. Kabak is not good enough, might be in the future, but not for now. I'm hoping we won't go for him after the loan. Ed is right that those 4 you mentioned are not premier winning quartet. VVD Gomez and Nat I would keep as a 1st 2nd/ 3rd and 4th option respectively. Davies? I have no idea, we are yet to see of him as he came and immediately struck our luck this season and got injured. Who to sign? I don't know to be honest, this season I don't watch that much games outside of Liverpool as its clearly "boring" without fans and all the rules changing after each game.

{Ed0666's Note - Carr or Konate for me if he can stay injury free. Has the potential to be special but has only played 60 games in the last three seasons.

7.) 10 Mar 2021 23:38:40
Mk Gomez has had injuries too . Don’t just discard Matip when fit brilliant cb.

{Ed0666's Note - true dat

8.) 11 Mar 2021 00:32:16
“When fit” being the critical phrase. He simply cannot be relied upon during the season. There’s no doubt about his quality, but that is of no use to the team from the treatment table.

{Ed0666's Note - Gerrard had horrendous injuries when he was young let’s not give up on Joe just yet mate

9.) 11 Mar 2021 04:14:15
VVD, Gomez, Phillips and Bremer/ Caleta-Car as our CBs next season. Kabak's too green and not ready for this level imo. Matip and Davies can go.

10.) 11 Mar 2021 04:33:10
Davies can go, IB? He’s only just arrived. And hasn’t played yet. He could be the next Alan Hanson.

11.) 11 Mar 2021 06:41:15
Keep them all. Sign Phillips up, Kabak for £18 million and Matip fit. let's be honest, it will be hard to ship out Matip and £18 million for Kabak is dirt cheap these days. I think the 5 CBs give us enough options going forward and it doesn't cost a fortune.

12.) 11 Mar 2021 06:52:47
Davies is in official pics training with the first team last Wed and sat before the Chelsea game and Fulham one. Also as much as I cannot wait to see Vvd and Gomez back both are coming back from very serious injuries. The chances of setbacks or the injuries reoccurring or niggling are just as likely as the players returning and going a full season without a flare up. For me because of that we need at least 1 better back up centre half to go with Phillips or Kabak (Phillips is free so makes more sense for it to be him) . After all Klopp wanted a top centre back in the summer way before Vvd and Gomez were injured. Can’t see that having changed now.

13.) 11 Mar 2021 08:37:31
I wouldn't be surprised if Davies suffers from the same struggles that Phillips had in trying to convince Klopp he is good enough.

14 Jan 2021 10:09:29
Hi Ed’s, hope all is well. Another day another centre back it seems at the moment, and as stated due to money constraints and those actually available it is looking unlikely Klopp/ Edwards will panic into something. One name or latest name mentioned seems to be Eder Militao on a loan deal. Firstly is the player available for a loan or is this with the obligation to buy rather than an actual loan, he was very highly rated while at Porto and also may be easier to settle with our Brazilians in the back line at the moment.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - You need to try the Spurs or Real Madrid pages.}

1.) 14 Jan 2021 13:00:05
Thought this would likely be the case. Thanks for the responses, hope you remain well throughout these testing times.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks Alex.}

31 Aug 2017 16:58:10
Take it that's it for incomings and just Coutinho to leave now then Eds?

Alex4

{Ed001's Note - I still do not believe we are done.}

1.) 31 Aug 2017 17:14:34
Eds how the hell aren't we after a centreback we have 4 an all of them potentially injury prone an no cover is the club serious.

2.) 31 Aug 2017 17:15:05
Hope you're right Ed001! Thank you again for you hard work, best of luck the last few hours.

{Ed001's Note - cheers.}

3.) 31 Aug 2017 17:20:09
Haha don't say that ed I was just starting to accept it was done for us 😂.

4.) 31 Aug 2017 17:21:28
Ed 001 would you ever talk to macca outside this site?

5.) 31 Aug 2017 17:21:28
Ed 001 would you ever talk to macca outside this site?

{Ed001's Note - I have done in the past many times mate. He is a nice guy. But I have not spoken to him outside of the site for a long while now, not since I deleted FB. Why mate?}

6.) 31 Aug 2017 17:27:03
Who is your money on please ed001.

{Ed001's Note - surely that is obvious?}

7.) 31 Aug 2017 17:32:16
Vvd or lemar?

8.) 31 Aug 2017 17:24:06
Ed you're playing with my emotions today.

9.) 31 Aug 2017 17:53:25
Just out of intrest mate you set up a great site just wondering are you all friends or did you meet through the site.

{Ed001's Note - met through the site.}

22 Aug 2017 21:40:59
Ed002 I know you said yesterday that you were unaware of any deal regarding Kovacic to Liverpool, is this regurgitated news from the papers or is there any interest in the player again do you know? With regards to further interest it feels like transfer window may fizzle out, are the club pushing for deals for the known targets of Oxlade-Chamberlin, Nobby and Van Dijk or is there new interest in anyone elsewhere such as Kovacic? Thank you in advance for yours and all other Eds constant work throughout the year as again proving to be the best source for news as every year.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement between Real madrid and Liverpool - I have no idea what the papers are saying.}

1.) 22 Aug 2017 21:54:40
Thank you for the response as ever Ed002, I take it there is no interest from us?

Ed002 two questions really as your insight into the game is always a step above most the other views we get on tv etc - who from the list above or those potentially available would be your best pick? Do you feel that Alonso not having the experience is another situation similar to Gerrard where they would struggle in England or do you think he’s a lot more tactically adept like Pep was in Spain originally and arguably Arteta is since joining Arsenal?

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - Nagelsmann of the likely candidates would work. There is a risk with Alondo and Michel allthough but are have great seasons. Gerrard would not be a good choice. Ljinders gives continuity but would need to be persuaded to stay. Slot would be a bold but good choice. Much will depend on what advice the club is given.}

Hi Ed- on the note of a high end replacement, I am guessing it would be too late for someone like Chiesa who we have shown past interest in and even overpaying for someone else mentioned like Lindstrom or Bakayoko leave us taking a massive risk.

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - It is certainly too late for Lindstrom and I doubt Chiesa is the answer. Bakayoko could yet be sold today.}

Hi Ed, obviously finances rarely discussed but would this be a similar fee to that we were willing to spend on Caicedo, and have we got any actual interest in Valverde?

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - Less but he plays in a different position.}

Hi Ed, looking at a few reports today suggesting the type of CB we are looking for seemingly not available. A lot of the names you had mentioned before the window opened look as if they could also be forgotten about such as Van De Ven, Schuurs, Ignacio, Ndicka etc, do you think it is unlikely at this point whether we will push forward with a defender?

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - Obviously they were available then.}

Hi Ed002 - I know it’s noted below the Madrid representative and Marcos Llorente, was this specifically for him/ Atletico based player or could this be Valverde who’s also noted as a possible?

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - No, they were Atletico.}

Ed001 - feels like a signing that in hindsight if we had got him after a Caicedo/ Lavia/ Doucoure everyone would say it’s shrewd business. Hopefully we can get another midfielder in whether it’s an out and out CDM like Doucoure or someone who can do both.

Any fixed interest in Kelleher, there was obviously murmurings he was wanting a move to get regular football for Ireland?

Alex4

{Ed002's Note - Caoimhin Kelleher (G) The player is a little stuck in that his game time will be limited and he will need to accept that is the case as Liverpool have no intention of selling him.}

Cheers Ed- it does look like if we have Henderson Fabinho Thiago all fit they will be the main 3 then Ox hopefully finds form and fitness with Keita and also Jones pushing on further. Where do you think the focus will be this summer, think everything feels like a freshen up on the forward line but not too sure who would come in and hit the ground running, to replace Mane or Firmino. Obviously a centre back is the other area, hopefully we can get Virgil back to fitness and form and that’ll help whoever it is to settle.

Alex4

{Ed001's Note - left-back as well to rotate/cover/push Robbo.}

Ed001 - note on the Bissouma piece you doubt we will go for him, shame as he looks a definite upgrade on the current Wijnaldum we are seeing in there. Do you think we will still bring in a centre midfielder and if not Bissouma any inkling on who?

Alex4

{Ed001's Note - probably not this summer, but as things are likely to be more like normality next season, I am not sure we need another central midfielder. Not now Jones has pushed on and made himself an option.}
