Think Rodgers will be here next season. Nothing is showing me he'll be gone. In fact it's the opposite. Missing out on fourth is clear now, he could have gone after the WBA game which confirmed it. He didn't. Could have sacked him after cup semi loss, we were poor and last hope of a trophy. He didn't.
This leads me to think, if it does cost the reported £10m, he can bring on youngsters to profit and maintain a 5th/6th place for Euro football then that's enough for FSG. They're tipped on here by ed002 to sell up 2017. They will have increased Anfield, have a squad of young players worth something due to Rodgers coaching (Coutinho, Ibe, Can, Moreno etc) no compensation costs and can sell on for profit.

Can anyone else really see FSG doing any different? EPL and our situation was much bigger and more costly then expected, so selling on with better confirmed revenue and regular top 6 side of young players with high transfer values. They do not need to sack Rodgers, they are not here long term. So many chances to have got rid before not taken, think that speaks volumes.

{Ed002's Note - 2017 will see a number of teams possibly sold - it will be a good point for the Liverpool owners to bail out if the club is not making decent money by then - I posted about this earlier - a search on 2017 should find it.}

This is a complete guess on my part and I claim no insight into anything, but my guess is if Rodgers is still here next season, it's largely due to what you have mentioned. Sacking him will be costly, bringing in a new man equally costly and as has been mentioned repeatedly we're not in the best position due to FFP and now likely have no CL money next year either. I'd be happy to be wrong about as for me a new manager would be worth giving up another £10M player we probably don't need anyway, but I could see it coming down simple to economics, unfortunately.

{Ed002's Note - It won't be anything to do with cost.}

Do you understand the loss in revenue this very season is going to cause? LFC owe FSG loads of money in interest free loans. They are not going to make their money back by selling the likes of Coutinho, Ibe, Can and Moreno for a profit.

If LFC do not finish top 4 next season then FSG will struggle to find a sponsor for naming rights to fund the rest of the stadium expansion and clear the debt LFC owe FSG.

If FSG stick with Rodgers another season and we fail to make top 4 next season again, the consequences financially for FSG will be like a 16lb hammer blow on the head. Sacking him and replacing him will cost them less than keeping him and not finsihing top 4 next season as all Rodgers has done is cost this club massive amounts of money without sufficient return. FSG cannot afford another season like this. Those who cannot see it, wake up.

No point in replacing him with 4 games to go, who would replace him?! If you think these owners are happy with 5th you're mistaken; they want to win titles and be challenging for the Champions League.

Essex, wouldn't you think the chance for a new manager to get to know the players in a handful of competitive games would be worth it? Especially if that manager is out of contract elsewhere i.e. Klopp?

Maybe Klopp was asked and didn't want it.

Maybe he can't join another team until the season is over as part of his agreement with Dortmund.

Maybe, if the owners are going to make managerial changes, it is more financially prudent for them to do so only if top 4 (for example) is mathematically impossible, like United did with Moyes last year.

Who knows

Max is right. He will NEVER learn hence, keeping him here will ONLY deepen the whole we will be in on and off the field. We have to cut our losses and cut bait because 5th every season after 100m spent will NOT do it and these guys will sack him first before he`s allowed to mess w/ their investments. See Red Sox sackings for confirmation. The owners did not indicate anything for months after KK screwed up and gotsacked so don`t read too much into the silence from FSG till now on the BR issue. Remember tho, none has come out publicly to support him for the past 6 weeks and even after the Wembley Debacle and to me, that speaks volumes.

If that's the case Ed002 then I would expect he'll be sacked. I can't really think of any other reason to persist with the "project" as it's pretty clearly not worked.
