Phillips looks to be back on the table.

I've never been keen on us signing him but for the right price could be a half decent option if we can get him fit and keep him away from the pies.

He has the huge bonus of being homegrown so would leave the door open for a possible CB addition!

I think we have to somehow be a little more patient and see how this all pans out.

I'm worried by the links right now like others but hoping we do not go through with this one or gravenberch personally. Praying for doucoure right now out of the links or for someone out of the blue like Fofana/ Florentino.

I ve almost given up on a CB although I think we really need a top one.

Let's see I guess. My optimism was sky high after Mac Allaister and Szobozlai. I would have thought it almost impossible to mess up a window after such a strong start. The impossible may be possible afterall but it's not a forgone conclusion yet. Still hoping for a great finish.

Thomas194, Klopp does not think Endo (if he is the guy you are referring to) as decent with the way he spoke about him after he signed. Also, you don't sign a half decent player on a 4 year deal either. Just saying.

I wonder what you would say if the shoe was on the other foot? If someone else called him "half-decent" without having even played one full game? I'd be curious to see your response.

Name one elite player over the age of 25 who plays for a bottom half Premier League club? The game is different now, anybody who is any good gets snapped up and hoarded by the bigger clubs. It’s even more prevalent in Germany. Bayern hoover up the best players, the 2nd tier end up at the likes of Leipzig, Dortmund, Monchengladbach (to be hoovered up by Bayern Munich afterwards if they’re deemed good enough)

thomas, where are you going with this? One minute Phillips is being talked about- he plays for a team that just did the treble- and then you're going on about Endo. He played in Germany, btw. Then you're talking about elite and top half of the PL. I don't think anyone has said Endo is elite even if he does play for a team in the top half of the PL and he is over 25.

elite players playing for bottom half clubs. Although I must preface this by saying that diehard liverpool fans bay churn at considering these guys elite lol

B. Fernandez, rashford, Varane, L. Martinez, casemiro, Nkunku, T. Silva, R. James, Enzo, Caicedo, M. Nunes, Neto, A. Doucoure, Gueye, Palhinha, Ed2 fave Mitrovic ( :) ) could go on but you get the point lol

Anyways, it's a really bad way to look at players and player development. Thomas - basically you're saying that there is only 'x' kind of player that could play for a club like Liverpool. well sorry mate, but we aren't that club. We are the club that can take a player, with the right skillset and attitude, coach them up to be world class.

I find your kind of way of analyzing players very FIFA influenced as the "elite" players with all the pace give so much advantage, but there is no human element to how you're looking at the players and considering how they could fit into our team.

There's a world of difference between half decent and elite.
Let's face it, we are not going to sign many elite players.
Alisson and VVD, possibly, but I'm struggling after that.
I prefer an elite team to a team of elite players any day.
