The new rules of players getting booked for overreacting to the refs is going to hurt Utd, especially Bruno.

Utd like to intimidate the refs, but now they can't. Bruno got booked for being bitchy, and thereafter, he couldn't make one of his usual many badly timed fouls, due to the risk of a second yellow. Casemiro was the same. This leaves them vulnerable to counter attacks as they can't stop play deliberately

There's always a silver lining and this is going to be it for me with the new rules

Players that make a living by playing on the edge are going to be restrained this season - let's see if they can actually change their ways. Me doesn't think so.

Bruno was constantly having a go at his own players yesterday as well. The little spoilt brat is going to cause more damage in the dressing room than anything else. And I'm going to sit back and enjoy the whole situation unfold.

Bruno is one of those players that’s just deeply unlikeable. There are few joys than seeing him throwing the toys out of the pram, his childish interview last night was particularly enjoyable.

Guys you are assuming these refs are going to show consistency, which they won't.
Im expecting a season full of dubious decisions.

Bruno is one of the most (if not the most) irritating footballer around. Constantly whinging, deliberately tries to hurt players in cowardly ways despite being far from a tough bloke. And as a footballer he is criminally overrated, clunky, technically limited, ghosts games and covers it up with half decent goal and assist stats (which he only gets purely by law of average because he tries a shot or Hollywood pass every time he gets the ball)

BUT, all of this just seems to be referees running away from accountability even more. They are already one of the most protected professions around, there is no other job where you can constantly mess up your basic tasks every single week and not get your P45. They never have to explain themselves, there is no repercussions for them costing teams points and trophies or relegation and they have no excuse for it either now with VAR. But let’s not question them, because woe betide we actually try to improve the terrible standard of refereeing.

Didn't see it Wassa, what did he cry about?

It’ll return back to the way it used to be. I’d love it if the refs kept this hard line alls Eason but Inreally doubt it.

Tbh I often wonder this. Surely his own players must dislike him as well. He is genuinely unlikeable and not even good enough a player like Suarez was for example to make up for it.

Basically moaning about the handball decision against them JLCBM and then croaking on about whether Jon moss will go into their changing room and give them an apology (after what happened following the the Onana assault) . Proper heads gone moment.

Snoots is correct.

It will last about 3 games before the refs bottle it and it goes back to normal.

Mikey's right. Might last longer than three games, but I expect that bookings for dissent will be much less frequent by October.

They might randomly invoke it a few times in March and April.

I think it's important that people keep commending the officials for the bookings of dissent. That way it will remain.

Everyone has been asking for this for years, it needs to stay.

The biggest problem that needed addressing was players faking head injuries. That is disgusting. Not sure if any of these new rules deal with that.

I’m a big fan of stopping the dissent on the pitch, and stopping the terrible abuse the refs get in the modern game, but I also think a more sensible use of VAR to improve decisions, and also more transparency and accountability after every weekend would be helpful to improving standards and accountability in a more objective and measured way.

Fernandes is a joke and was a disaster yesterday. Should focus on his own performance than criticise others for theirs.

{Ed014's Note - he’s an utter cock on a stick, he wouldn’t get in any decent team.

100% Snoots - consistency is the key

Will they manage it consistently or will certain clubs get away with it? Time will tell

I mean, you only have to look at the sheer number of calculated fouls that Rodri commits per game to see that bookings are not consistent. Caceido gets booked every game if he did that, so would Doucoure, so would McGinn etc, etc, yet ROdri rarely does.
