I think we buy him so we don't have to overpay for the next player. Before, all teams known that we were desperate for a DM and we would probably have to overpay significant. If it's true and we do sign him, we will clearly have a better negotiating position in the last weeks over transfer window.

Which is a surprise as it looks like lots of people were actively scouting him specifically in the World Cup.

100% agree Redcork, I remember when we signed Sami Hyypia and it was like Sami who, Most fans were underwhelmed when we signed Robbo and Gini from relegated teams. Not many objected when we tried to offload Hendo to Fulham. Lots on here were saying Mane had attitude problems and Salah was only 5th choice. All of these players were outstanding for us so maybe trust the management team who will have done slightly more research on players than 2 minutes on youtube.

Klavan was rated the second best goal keeper in germany @Olired. It means nothing. Splashing £15 mill on a 31 year old is absolutely not a good business.

Some of the hysteria to this is ridiculous.

No he clearly wasn’t on any of our radar but in fairness neither was Ali after we buried 6 goals past him in the Champions League semi final.

Nor was Robbo when he got relegated.

Nor a former chelsea reject doing “okay” for Roma.

Nor a certain white toothed magician at Hoffenheim.

Nor was a Brazilian lounging on inter Milan’s bench.

Who is this Finnish guy playing for Willhem II?

Yes we have had our fair share of panic buys over the years but we have also picked up some gems out of nowhere.

What matters right now are two things: (1) those who watch the bundasliga appear to all indicate this guy is seriously underrated and (2) the stuttgart fans love him. Both of which should mean people wind their necks in and give him a chance.

If you want to discuss the home grown issue or if somebody else could have filled that slot better, fair enough, that’s a fair debate. Some of the comments though are absolutely embarrassing.

Malo - signed after Klopp messed up tchouameni and then decided not to go after an alternative.

Davies / Kabak - signed when we already had 4 first team CBS but suffered bad injuries and so didn’t make sense to commit millions to long term deals for a short term problem

Balotelli and Lambert - Brendan Rodgers fullstop.

Blimey. One Endo is 30, so younger than Hendo and Milner. A year older than Fabinho.

Two he is an ever present for Stuttgart, rarely misses a game.

Three the Stuttgart fans reaction to losing their captain is a massive barometer to how influential and highly regarded he is.

Four when has a transfer fee ever been indicative of talent? Some of the most disruptive, lazy and overrated players have gone for obscene transfer fees. And people were moaning about spending more than £40m on Lavia and £110 on Caicedo.

Some people are always going to moan. I am relieved that we are buying someone who looks like they might actually be able to do the job. Bajcetic is not a 6, so his development will not be affected by Endo. Maybe by Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.
