Is Liverpool losing the experience if Henderson and Fabinho potentially an act of self sabotage or a new beginning?

I think selling Fabinho for the price quoted is great business. Can't say the same about the Henderson transfer.

An act of self sabotage ?? my good god!

Clearly both want to go and we’ve never kept hold of players who want to leave in the past.

Both were very good for us in the few seasons we cleaned up on trophies but both were also key factors in our poor performances last season.

Time doesn’t wait for no man so good luck in Saudi and the club moves forward and both are welcome back at Anfield as supporters anytime.

Isn’t this what everyone wanted end of last season everyone wanted Fabs and Hendo gone? Now it’s happening you think it’s the end of the world.

I think it’s a sign of how poor squad management has been I’ve the last few years. Kloppites did say he wanted to build again before he goes. This is it. Wish hendo all the best he has been fantastic.

Would have held out for more from Hendo, I suppose if Saudi team wouldn’t cough up £20 million do you really want an unhappy player in team and would Klopp want someone who wants to leave and not committed.
Issue is we’ve gone into window needing to reinforce the midfield having Ox, Milner and Naby left now we’ve offloaded 3 more hendo, Fabinho and carvalho so that’s 6 out and only 2 in…. more reinforcements is an absolute must and one should be experienced.

Yep, FSG and Klopp have a long history of self sabotage.

Despite this we have won quite a lot under their joint stewardship, but just think what we could have won if we stopped always trying to screw ourselves over.

Maybe next time we should pick real winners as owner and manager rather than this bunch of masochists.

It’s almost certainly a pure fiscal thing.
Get £52 million in cash for two ageing, underperforming players who we’ve had the best years out of, or,
Continue to pay them almost £300,000 a week for the next 2/ 3 years.
So take the £52 and be able in reinvest, or reject it, pay £30 million in wages for players who reasonably are not going to get any better.
I might have missed my calling as an accountant because to me this makes nothing but sense.

It's good that you did in fact miss your calling. You would have been a disaster at it. Hendo and Fabinho earn £190,000 and £180,000 per week, respectively. That's nowhere near the £300,000 you mentioned (nor the £600,000 per week, for both, if you meant 300K each) .

ArAy, I took Easy to mean £300k across both of them, so he was, if anything, under-egging it a little.

OP, where is the act of self sabotage exactly when both players clearly wanted to go and the club got the best deals they could get for both players? Seems like you're doing too much here, mate.

“Self sabotage” a new business paradigm.

Losing such huge presences in the dressing room like Milner and Henderson, so quickly, seems like a bad idea in my opinion. Time will tell but I would not of gone about it this way. If Kalvin Phillips is signed then I will double down on this opinion.

lets lok at our outgoings so far, ox - never fit, nabby - never fit, millie - castigated every game he played on here as being too old and too slow, hendo, apparently legs gone, fab - slower than a london bus. these are what have gone, players that have been under the cosh here for the entirety of last season, that everyone demanded should be moved on/ sold and now its happened they suddenly teveryone saying we shouldn't be doing it. surely if they wasnt up to it last season then no matter who replaces them cannot be worse. my neighbours cat would have better availability than the first 2 alone.

@OP, out of curiosity, what’s your opinion - you have given both ends of the spectrum as an either / or option but you seem shy of giving your opinion.

Personally I think it’s a good thing that they are going. For me it’s a case of ‘the king is dead, long live the king’. I’m genuinely interested in what our squad will look like in 4 - 6 weeks time (or whenever the window closes) and what our starting line up will be.

I’m also amused by the reactions of certain members of the forum who were of the ‘get rid’ persuasion, right up to the middle of last week ???.

Cheers Zed, I knew Hendos reported wage was £190,000, I couldn’t be bothered to look up Fabs so undershot it slightly.
