Just watching the press conference now, I'm very concerned. There is something seriously wrong with Klopp mentally I think. Never seen him like this. I think his head has gone. I really hope I'm so wrong.

I love Klopp!

But do you think it’s just the end of an era?

(My first post here so go gently) .

YNWA.

Klopp is having a tough time at the moment, I don't expect him to be cracking jokes and laughing and smiling. We all make mistakes and have tough times, it's how you retrieve these situations and learn from mistakes. I think Jurgen has deserved the opportunity to give it a go. Painful as it may be, but given time I think he can turn it round.

The amateur psychologists out in force today. Maybe he’s just cheesed of with inane questions from journalists.

Just a question, maybe Ed’s will know or someone here.

What happened to Klopp at Dortmund? Didn’t he go due to a huge drop in form there? I have not real idea and just wondering.

{Ed001's Note - they wanted him to stay but he resigned as he felt that he had done all he could with the team. Partly in need of a break and partly fed up of his best players being sold out from under him.}

I agree op Klopp seems almost aggressive in his interviews at the moment and I understand that it’s the same questions over and over again but that’s always the case for all managers it’s just part of the job am afraid. Where has the funny, smiley Klopp gone!

It's called "Pressure" he has immense pressure on his shoulders every day, particularly when results are not going your way? The LFC players are the only ones who can stop this run of bad results.

A good Derby win Monday will kick start the season at long last!

I agree only the players on the pitch can ease the pressure.

Who is going to be funny and smiley with the performances the team has been putting in. Who gets enjoyment out of that? Confidence is shot to pieces for the playing staff, Klopp, coach etc. Things haven’t gone well AT ALL this season and now we are in a situation where it’s a case of digging in and really trying to grind a few results together and hope for a few fresh bodies to recover from injury.
I guess anyone who has played at any level will understand how your energy levels seem to disappear quicker when you’re playing sh#t, when a 10 yard pass is difficult to achieve, when players run past you as if you’re stuck in quick sand and the forwards can’t remember the last month they scored a goal. It’s not down to a lack of trying but you can’t replicate that feeling when you’re playing well, your head is up and your first touch gives you that extra second.
That’s not to say training won’t be fun and good craic but you will still know in your head the results aren’t there and your own performance has been dire.
It is a really tough moment but what is also true is that it can go as quickly as it came and you remember that round thing is actually a football and the aim is to look after it and stick it in the net.
Just my point of view from past experiences away back when, or maybe that was just me ???.

Given the fact that he is aware of our current form and situation, he keeps getting asked the same old questions and that most people don’t believe him or twist what he says what do you expect him to do? Maybe do a ten minute stand-up routine or the Fawlty Towers ‘Don’t mention the war’ pieces? I’m honestly surprised that people are surprised that he’s pi##ed.

He’s a winner. They don’t like losing. A few good results and the smile will be back.

Just check Guardiola’s demeanour when we were besting them.

They were in relegation zone for a lot of that season and ultimately it was due to klopp not overhauling the squad and keeping faith in players over 30 as well as the points ed made.

If he was smiley and jokey in PCs I bet you'll be the 1st to say Klopp isn't taking the team's form seriously. Didn't know there were so many body language experts around.

Do we have to be experts or qualified in topics now to start any discussion on here? Because I bet none of us are qualified or experts in any topic so the page is going to be a right laugh moving forward.

Robbie’s made an observation and says he hoped he’s wrong. Not really sure why he’s getting a couple of haters on him.

@TopG, that is patently false and Ed01 did not say what you said. The fact is that his best players kept getting poached by Bayern and the replacements like Ciro Immobile for Lewandoswski, were not up to scratch. Oh n btw, a certain Mario Gotze was poached by Bayern by a certain Pep Guardiola who took over the season after he was poached. Genius manager, of course (eye roll) . If you’re going to have a pop at Klopp then at least, come with the facts instead of making up your own. It’s only fair.

As for Klopp’s demeanour at press conferences, as always people are overthinking this way too much. No need to have a psychology degree to realise Klopp is having a rough time like ALL managers do when things aren’t going right. I don’t remember ANY top manager being warm and fuzzy to the media under the same circumstances so not sure what is happening here.

He prolly blames himself more than anything so that will definitely eat him up a bit and it does not help with lazy journos looking for him to write their headlines for them by asking the sale old tired questions everytime. It’s football. No new ground has been broken here.

This is the game I’ve been dreading. We must win this game. If we get smashed again I think the in the morning will read “Klopp walks”.

Klopp certainly looks like he’s sleeping poorly atm and I agree with Oli, he probably is taking it to heart, as he’s basically a supporter in the manager’s hot seat.
But I hope he gets some context when he puts on the tv news; those terrible earthquake scenes, war, strikes, energy and cost of living problems.
That is real pressure.
I’d be happy if he can just get the team playing well again and put a smile on our faces, if only for a little while.

Great post Rambo. If he was all smiles, there are posters on here who would be crucifying, guy cannot catch a break and, yes, the team are stinking the place out but we have to trust him to turn it around.
The players, the coaching staff, everyone is part of the team that makes up Liverpool FC. It hurts at the moment but we cannot just give up halfway through the season, even if it is to be a season of suffering. We suffer together.

11 Feb 2023 21:35:30
think Oli is spot on here, maybe Klopp is thinking that he could have should have done better .
how he spent the money on a forward Gakpo, instead of a midfielder is beyond me .
but we have to move on now and get behind the team .
think Big Virg will make a huge difference .

11 Feb 2023 21:42:37
He really can’t win in a situation like this. If he’s moody and tetchy then we say he’s not himself but if he’s happy and jokey we say he doesn’t care.
I wouldn’t read too much into it these press conferences are a waste of time anyway I’m sure he’d rather be trying to sort out our problems on the training pitch rather than answering the same old questions from a bunch of half wits.

@Jk23, no you don’t need to be an expert or ‘qualified’ to start a discussion but It helps if people have a basic idea and / or understanding of what they are talking about or what sort of responses they are like to receive or directions that the ‘discussion’ is likely to take. A sort of amalgamation of ‘think before you speak’ and ‘if you haven’t got anything to say then don’t say anything’.

22.) 12 Feb 2023
12 Feb 2023 08:03:38
Thanks Jk, its just an observation.

@wdw what "basic idea and/ or understanding" do you need before you make an observation? Maybe you could ask the Eds to allow you to moderate, that way only posts with your level of knowledge and expertise would be allowed. You'd probably have the place to yourself though.

Kop that on the topic of the Gakpo signing rather than a midfielder, I see why they signed him cos we were after him in the summer already and most importantly, we only hade ONE for forward in Salah at the time with Darwin being injured (not being sure the extent of said injury as well) along with the others so I understand that part even tho, I can see why people disagreed with it in isolation.

Now as for the midfield, I knew we wouldn’t get one in Jan cos I knew we more than likely were keeping our powder dry till the summer to fully evaluate that position with the departures of Ox, Naby and even Milner with Hendo stepping down the peking order and re-evaluating Thiago’s role. Just my take on things. Let’s see what happens.
