Morning eds any truth in Salah for Paulo Dybala plus €50m? Or is this media b. s. Cheers.

Janmo76

{Ed002's Note - As you know Salah has continued to be hawked around and certainly there has been a further discussion with PSG. Juve might be open to considering Salah as they are looking to continue to make major changes but Liverpool has shown no interest in Dybala - and he wants to move elsewhere, so the player agreeing to such a deal seems unlikely.}

1.) 15 Feb 2019 13:17:29
Whats the story with Salah is he unhappy or what?

2.) 15 Feb 2019 14:25:14
If we win this year and he still wants to leave then it can’t be considered to be to go looking for silverware. As per usual, it is likely driven by money.

3.) 15 Feb 2019 14:28:08
It’s probably Salah’s agent as opposed to Salah handing in requests. As it stands he plays for LFC and bagging most weeks so I’d focus on that.

4.) 15 Feb 2019 11:29:50
Cheers ed, it's really beyond belief that Salah has signed new deal and goes on Twitter to say he's going nowhere, but his agent can contact the every Tom dick and Harry to see who wants him. Is this common practice?

{Ed002's Note - Some players have agents that hawk them around. It is not uncommon.}

5.) 15 Feb 2019 11:32:25
Ed u see the way u say hawked around! since the player has a contract and a fair bit to go on it can the club not stop this or anything footballers and agents are greedy b#%#%#%#s!

{Ed002's Note - It is how clubs recruit players.}

6.) 15 Feb 2019 12:26:26
A further discussion with PSG? Sorry Ed I didn’t realise they were looking at Salah tbh. A Neymar replacement possibly?

{Ed002's Note - His agent approached PSG initially.}

7.) 15 Feb 2019 13:05:27
Ed002,

It wouldn’t surprise me if a bid for Salah and it will be interesting to see the how the club responds.

One question, surely someone at the club is aware of Salah being touted around? And as for talks with PSG, if the club were aware of this, surely they would not be happy? Whilst PSG can’t talk to the player directly I presume, talks through the agent is very much the forefront of the discussion?

{Ed002's Note - Agents and clubs talk all of the time - that is, when not tapping players up, Liverpool get to sign players. It is the norm.}

8.) 15 Feb 2019 17:31:10
Agreed it might be the norm Ed002 but my point is, surely the club are aware of Salah’s agent talking to PSG and flaunting him around.

It seems as though Salah’s agent are quite insistent and extremely proactive in this instance, clearly the club needs to prepare or at least question his actions.

I would.

{Ed002's Note - there is no secret Salah wants to move to Real Madrid. The club are not going to question it - particularly now two Liverpool players are openly talking about tapping a player up.}

9.) 15 Feb 2019 18:11:59
uhhhh Mane and Keita are tapping up Timo Werner. Leipzing won't sell now.

10.) 15 Feb 2019 20:36:57
Cheers for the info Ed.

11.) 15 Feb 2019 20:19:10
Behave yourselves. 2 players asking a friend and former teammate to join them at their new club cannot be considered tapping up. That’s just ridiculous.
They should just have holding cells with no windows to keep players and managers in when not playing or training so they can’t ‘tap up’ their mates who play for other clubs.
Seriously are they not allowed to talk to their friends now? They should definitely ban international football if that’s the case. Imagine all of the ‘tapping up’ that goes on there!
Absolutely ridiculous.

{Ed002's Note - it is rapping up but it goes on. Uniquely in England the Liverpool players boast about it. They are cretics to do this.}

12.) 15 Feb 2019 20:58:07
Is that what and who you meant Ed, Mané and Keita talking about Werner?

{Ed002's Note - of course.}

13.) 15 Feb 2019 22:25:04
Players come, players go. I think we’ve got the best out of Salah and the end of the season would probably be the optimum time to sell.

14.) 15 Feb 2019 23:52:08
Just sign jovic? A year younger and better.

15.) 16 Feb 2019 10:43:18
An agent can hawk his player around to various clubs but the player’s club can do nothing about it. Players from one club can talk to the media about wanting their mate from another club to join them and the mate’s club can do nothing about it. If a club make overtures to a player from another club without that club’s permission it is tapping up and forbidden. Doesn’t this demonstrate that the rules surrounding tapping up are out of date and ineffective and need an overhaul?

{Ed002's Note - It is the job of the agent to talk to clubs about players. Players are not allowed to say they will be tapping up players on behalf of their club - Gerrard was caught doing that and admonished. If the media were to ask a player about another there would not be an issue them saying that it would be good if he joined - that would be fine. Klopp briefed members of the media over four players he wanted in an attempt to have them help him with his tapping up - although not covered in the rules it is unsportsmanlike. Maybe you don't have a clear understanding of the rules?}

16.) 16 Feb 2019 11:22:12
Ed02, thanks for the reply. I happily admit I have only a rudimentary understanding of the rules despite you spending a lot of your time on this site explaining them to simpletons like me. But from that limited understanding they do seem to me be rather contradictory and geared towards the money-making activities of agents and others who inhabit professional football. One man’s deal making actions are another man’s tapping up activities .

{Ed002's Note - Agents are covered by very restive rules and it is now heading back to the more struck rules of full registration. But you have to remember that agents are contacting Liverpool about players to discuss them and in most cases that is how transfers work. The players will likely be written to and reminded of their responsibilities - that is the norm. Where clubs have encouraged players to do it it is more serious - Barcelona has had trouble in the past with that.}

17.) 16 Feb 2019 12:49:14
I think it was MK Scouser that said they should just let people do what they want. Tapping up in some form will go on in the majority of transfers especially the big ones let’s just stop making such a big deal of it.
The fact is that the rules (whatever they are) are unenforceable in most cases as the ‘tapping up’ is too difficult to prove. There are so many ways in which people can communicate now I just don’t see the point in trying to pretend it doesn’t happen.

18.) 16 Feb 2019 17:08:58
I'm not sure of ed002 answered but I was quickly flicking through responses and I couldn't see.
1) you said salahs agent been hawking him around to them but are they themselves interested?
2) if they are, is this a replacement for neymar or mbappe?

Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised if they were. Yes it would be a replacement for either one.}

19.) 16 Feb 2019 20:45:24
Tapping up is not new, just harder to keep a secret. Stevie G himself was blatantly tapped up at Euro 2004 by Lampard and Terry, hence we went a whole season with links to them.

20 Nov 2018 16:40:52
Evening Eds, have we shown any interest in Timo Werner? He looks like a top player to me. Cheers top site as always.

Janmo76

{Ed002's Note - No but there is interest from elsewhere.}

1.) 20 Nov 2018 17:12:42
Shame cheers Ed002.

2.) 20 Nov 2018 19:33:33
I would imagine he will cost someone close to £100 mill, there can’t be more than 4 or 5 clubs that can afford him and need a striker. Chelsea?

3.) 20 Nov 2018 21:14:53
He would suit either Chelsea or Colchester.

4.) 20 Nov 2018 22:08:47
Who are Liverpool currently interested in?

5.) 21 Nov 2018 03:46:53
Hessle, no one lol. We aren't making any squad additions until the summer, which will likely be dictated by players being sold.

6.) 22 Nov 2018 10:43:27
I imagine Timo werner would be a success at Colchester I know he might not get in the team to start with it wouldn't be easy to wrestle Ryan gondoh or frank nouble out of the team but if he knuckles down in training catches the gaffers eye makes the most of his appearances off the bench as long as he doesn't let the potential adulation get to his head and he doesn't get his head turned by the bright lights of Plymouth argyle I'm sick of them pilgrims poaching Colchesters best players and they would have got away with it if it hadn't been for those pesky kids he should be OK.

06 Jun 2018 20:08:12
Hi ed's top site! The story regards salah being offered to Barcelona by his agents, is this allowed? I know we are not the best to talk about tapping up, but surely this is if true?
Cheers gents.

Janmo76

{Ed025's Note - agent are a law unto themselves janmo and see themselves as above any rules, but nothing has happened yet so i would take it with a pinch of salt at this juncture mate..

1.) 06 Jun 2018 21:01:27
Salah’s Agent tweeted - “this didn’t happenso go check your sources! ” Clearly nonsense.

2.) 06 Jun 2018 21:07:40
Cheers ed.

{Ed025's Note - no probs mate..

3.) 06 Jun 2018 21:24:37
Salah offered himself to many suitors- particularly Real Madrid but it came to nothing (Thankfully) . I could be wrong but I believe ed2 suggested said parties balked at the wages suggested or something along those lines. Regardless, for this window it’s unlikely he’ll leave.

Hi Everyone I've just checked the fixtures for the AFCON and I can't see Senegal or Egypt. Does this mean we won't lose Salah and Mane? Cheers.

Janmo76

1.) 09 Jan 2021 17:00:08
Could be worse Everton needed ET to get past their opponents today ha ha.

2.) 09 Jan 2021 17:57:50
That's the beauty of the cup Hunter. We didn't exactly swot away the young lad's from Villa last night.

3.) 09 Jan 2021 18:46:58
Fair point mate as always you make good sense cheers.

Evening Ed's, what are you thoughts on .......................

Janmo76

{Ed002's Note - Wrong page - this is the Liverpool page.}

1.) 12 Jan 2020 17:04:10
I though he would be worth a cheeky bid in the summer from us Liverpool.

{Ed002's Note - A "cheeky bid"?}

2.) 12 Jan 2020 18:50:48
The return of the ‘cheeky bid’, ah it feels like 2012 again.

I yearn for the days when this site would be full of posts that went something like this:

Was picking my sister up from John Lennon airport, glanced across the runway and i saw a private jet land. The door opens, descending down the stairs were four figures; David Villa, Gaston Ramirez, Arda Turan and Michu. All of them were decked out in those Sgt Peppers colourful body suits, complete with wigs, moustaches and circular sunglasses to complete the disguise. I wouldn’t have known who they were if i hadn’t heard the thunderous pounding of a car stereo from the taxi rank being emitted from a blacked out minibus, an endless loop of the Anfield Rap and World in Motion catches my attention. Inquisitively i approached the window; the driver was John Barnes, dressed as though he’d just stepped off the set of The Matrix. He informs me that Liverpool don’t really want any of these players; it is all a ‘smokescreen’ for the real high profile targets, Diego Costa and Henrikh Mkitaryan. He also informed me that i shouldn’t be surprised if we submit a ‘cheeky bid’ for Lionel Messi, just to test the waters. He has reliable sources, you see, who’ve informed him that Kenny Huang is set to buy A 87% stake in the club. He picks up the cargo, does a wheelie and spins off into the sunset.

{Ed025's Note - love that AW..

3.) 12 Jan 2020 19:05:33
whatever happened to Kenny Huang?

4.) 12 Jan 2020 19:26:11
Brilliant Wooly but Keisuke Honda needed a mention :)

5.) 12 Jan 2020 19:46:49
Well done AW a great read, you should be really proud.

6.) 12 Jan 2020 20:16:50
Weekly article please anonymous wool back. About the good old days and gravy. Nan's cottage pie etc. I was gripped. The pop culture references, Sgt peppers, the matrix. Perfect.

19 Jul 2019 20:00:03
Evening Ed's,

Has there been any interest in Daniel Sturridge?

Cheers.

Janmo76

{Ed002's Note - Lots and no doubt he is considering his future.}

1.) 20 Jul 2019 00:07:50
I’ll bet there has been. But as long as he doesn’t bet on it.

2.) 20 Jul 2019 03:06:28
Any offers from MLS? Seems reasonable LA would be a good destination?

{Ed002's Note - Yes there is an offer from the US, plus China, Australia and others.}

3.) 20 Jul 2019 08:36:08
Wherever he may end up, good luck to the lad.

{Ed025's Note - i think his luck has ran out salah, he has been basically sitting on his arse for 4 years raking in more in one week than an NHS nurse will earn in 3 years, so i will save my good luck messages for those who deserve it more mate..

4.) 20 Jul 2019 08:52:28
Well Ed25, I can't argue with that mate.

{Ed025's Note - hes not the only one though mate, there are a number of players out there abusing the privileges of being a football star, its the world we live in unfortunately..

5.) 20 Jul 2019 10:15:14
One thought that springs to mind Ed if you sign a player that doesn't transition in to the team fails to progress and ends up sat out for 90% of the time it's no good to the player or the club. I know the football world is a strange place but can a club even sack a player based on performance or lack of it if no resale option exists are they stuck with the player for the duration of the contract

On the other hand if a player feels he doesn't want to be at a club and can't get a transfer can they simply quit

This is probably more than you would like to go into if it's not something to go into now would it be possible for a article about it one day.

{Ed002's Note - No, that is because there are contracts.}

6.) 20 Jul 2019 10:14:21
Ed25, I agree, it's all about greed imo mate, they let the money get to their heads and don't give a damn about anything else other than their bank accounts. Too much money in it for me but it'll never change it'll just get more daft and we'll see more and more of them taking advantage of it.

Don't get me wrong we have some great players out there who will for an example give to charity and what not but it seems to be quite rare.

{Ed025's Note - sadly your right salah mate..

1.) 29 May 2019 20:43:37
Think free on YouTube BT sport channel. what do you reckon would be best for picture quality etc?

2.) 29 May 2019 20:53:31
Got Arsenal Chelsea game on the xbox and the picture is sweet. can't wait for sat.

3.) 30 May 2019 06:20:39

Morning Red men, just putting this out there. I would rest Bobby today and put Origi in. Just give him a rest and give us something different up front. Thoughts anyone? Come on red men, let's get right behind them today.

Janmo76

1.) 09 Feb 2019 08:46:42
We’ve barely played recently. Nobody should need a rest right now.

2.) 09 Feb 2019 08:52:25
Why rest him? We got 9 days before we play again, we need our best players to get 3 points 2day.

3.) 09 Feb 2019 08:56:10
Ok drop him because he was absolutely awful in the last game.

{Ed025's Note - most of the season to be fair janmo..

4.) 09 Feb 2019 09:07:48
I think Origi had some good touches and got in some good areas and never gave the ball away when he came on. And he gives us some more height for Robertson to find in the box. Bobby gave the ball away all game.

5.) 09 Feb 2019 09:16:00
Game time is the only thing that cures low or poor form. If there's anything that he needs, it's definitely as much game time as possible to iron out things, physically and mentally.

6.) 09 Feb 2019 09:23:00
I’ll be honest it’s a tuff call for me today. On one hand yeah bobby just looked lost the other day prob one of the worst games I’ve seen from him and I would say not he’s best season but he’s been moved into a different position. But on the other hand he can do a few flicks and it all links up with the other two and he tracks back!
Origi did bring more energy the other day that was for sure and mite give bobby a kick up the arse. The end of the day I think klopp will pick bobby. And let hope we smash them!

7.) 09 Feb 2019 09:54:35
We need a win today, therefore play our best striker. The chance origi missed against West ham (tough chance I know) I feel Bobby would have tucked it in.

Does anyone know: are gini, trent and hendo back from injury?

I fancy us today as Bournemouth like to play but I thought the same about Leicester and the irons.

Let's go hung ho and aim for 7 goals. If we let in 3 and our defensive record looks not so good. So what? 3 points at 6 5 is better than 1 point at 0 0.

We need to focus on scoring, not not conceding.

8.) 09 Feb 2019 10:20:36
Ye let's completely change how we play today.

9.) 09 Feb 2019 10:25:52
I would like to see Origi start WITH the usual front 3. They are all great players but I often feel like we miss that man in the box. Salah's been drifting wide so he can run at people, Firmino has always dropped deep to get involved in the build up, and therefore Mane has been our only player regularly on the end of crosses or trying to run in behind of late.

Origi up top with Firmino off him, Salah on the right and Mane on the left sounds good in theory. Let's be honest, Shaqiri, Sturridge and Keita haven't done enough to justify starting when they have. You always get 100% from Origi though and he is just as capable of the odd rocket as they are!

10.) 09 Feb 2019 11:01:47
Think it’s a little unfair to say Shaq hasn’t earned the right to start as he seems to be the fall guy of being dropped out of the team after he starts. Shaq has not played well the last couple of appearances but so have a lot of the players and He gets way less minutes. He’s featured in 20 league games this season mostly as Sub or being Subbed when starting and has contributed with 6 goals and 2 assists. Not a bad return when you actullay look at the minutes he has featured.

11.) 09 Feb 2019 11:02:39
No need to drop Firmino, just play him in his best position (false 9). Salah on the right, Mané on the left and Shaqiri behind them. Let's be more ambitious today!

Red-Rum.

12.) 09 Feb 2019 12:00:50
Totally agree redrum. Origi, while obviously talented, only scored what? 3 goals in Germany last season.

We have no height in the box, Bobby isn't short but not a big man. Origi gets brought on when we can't break down stubborn defences and start to whip in crosses.

I don't see him as the man to win us this must win game. I would rather see sturridge at CF with Bobby behind. I don't think salah as CF works, yeah he scored tonnes of goals but that was from the wing.

I'd go

Mane. Firmino. Salah with Keita behind. Or shaqiri.
Otherwise I'd play

Mane. Sturridge. Salah with bobby behind.

Shaq (although I've loved him since he scored an overhead goal winner against utd) isn't industrious enough to play in our three man midfield.

I've always been a lallana fan, but since his injury he isn't the same player. I Pray he doesn't start.

13.) 09 Feb 2019 17:09:43
I'll eat my words chaps Bobby had a great game today, should of scored though. He must of read this a put a performance in. 😁.

I've said this numerous times, coutinho flits in and out of games. Does nothing then scores a worldy. It was good business to get rid. If you can't make it in the Spanish league playing for the best team, you won't make it in the premier league. Though you have to give the lad more than one season to produce the goods.

I feel for the saints fans, every window must be sickening. But they really need to look at who's running their club and not ours. Football is all about what players you have and who you can buy to strengthen the team, and what youth players you can bring through to save and make money. They can always say no, but when a players heads turned, it's very hard as we have experienced before and will again no doubt. But if saints have a player we want, we should make a fair offer and respect their reply.

Janmo76

{Ed002's Note - You don't want to worry too much about them. Liverpool massively over paid for van Dijk in cash they didn't have and had to borrow. And it was yet another attempt of the Liverpool directors trailing a trail of slime to beg them not to make a complaint about the tapping up. And they have had to do that over another player since.}

Klopp is having a tough time at the moment, I don't expect him to be cracking jokes and laughing and smiling. We all make mistakes and have tough times, it's how you retrieve these situations and learn from mistakes. I think Jurgen has deserved the opportunity to give it a go. Painful as it may be, but given time I think he can turn it round.
