Anyone else just dreading the banging on from the media and opposition fans for the next week or so?

I think any sensible football fan could of told you that at some point early on in the season, alisson would make a mistake. Foreign keepers will have trouble adjusting, especially top ones who are good with their feet. I have absolute confidence that over time and after a bit of telling off, alisson will begin to grasp the do’s and don’ts of the english game better.

I remember De Gea doing it, i remember Lloris doing it, i remember Courtois doing it when he came back from Spain, and i’m fairly certain there have been hairy moments for Ederson as well. Foreign sweeper keepers always take time to adapt.

You’d have to be blind to not notice how good Alisson has been so far, how many difficult situations he has made easy and how much confidence he gives to the back line. You’d also have to be totally blind not to notice that the goal was a product of multiple errors; milners pass to van dijk was dangerous, van dijks pass to alisson was woeful and put him under pressure immediately, pressure i think he was unwilling to succumb to as i think he feels confidence in himself makes him play his best football. I fully expect this to be no more than a tiny kink in Alissons game and it will be entirely ironed out in a few weeks time; average players ignore their mistakes and let lack of confidence get to them, top players use their mistakes to drive forward their improvement as players, which is what i fully expect Alisson to do.

No mate, couldn't care less what other fans or press say, just keep winning that's all we need to do.

He'll learn from it. It was going to happen eventually. He got away with it in the last two games. I'm just glad he did it when we were 2-0 up so it didn't affect the result.

If you take chances like he does you are bound to get caught out eventually he just needs to tighten up his decision making. In terms of making saves and coming to collect he looks really good.

From his post match quotes, It's definitely not going to dent alissons confidence, and hopefully he'll learn something from it.

What I liked was when the next 2 opportunities came to pick the ball up in hands, he still controlled it with feet and fizzed a pass out straight to a teammate. He's clearly unflappable and doesn't dwell on mistakes. He'll be miffed, obviously, but no harm was done really and a lesson or two will hopefully be learnt. I don't really watch Italian football, so have no idea of the time keepers are usually afforded, but in the Prem you don't get time to ponder. He'll set attacks up, be able to play it cool and sweep up as usual, there are just times you simply need to lump it.

I'm not worried about it at all. The media will always find something to over report and make a bigger issue than it really is.

Players make mistakes. I’d argue Salah’s 2 big mistakes were just as bad.

I agree Bobby, I think Salah (the player not the poster) made a much bigger mistake by not putting away that opportunity early on.

Exactly Stone and at 2-0 he just had to square it to Bobby for a tap in but was too greedy.

OP, who gives a hoot about what opposing fans (many of who actually wish they had some of the players we have) have to say about us? I don't know and I don't care, end of story. As for Allison, we all knew this would happen so we all just be glad the mistake happened during a win so he can learn from it w/ o any damage to the cause. There are a lot more serious things that concern me about us now (no shots on target in the last two second halves of games, no chances created, inability to generate any energy, fluidity and direction in the second half of the past two games) than Alisson's mistake. I do agree that the media will be blowing this up for the next 10 days.

Ederson did it against us last season and Salah lobbed him from 40 yards to score.
