Ed1, assuming that Macca is right and we get VVD do you think that spells the end for Gomez or maybe Matip? I can't imagine Matip would be happy on the bench and Lovren has signed a new deal.

Agree Ed although bizarrely I always though Lovren looked better when he was at RB (and Sakho at left) - not sure if that was down to Sakho, avoiding Moreno or just looked a lot more comfortable when being pulled to the right.

That's Klavan in danger then. VVD, Matip, Lovren and Gomez looks good to me for options next season. Just hope we wrap up Salah too in the next few days and then concentrate on signing some quality full backs.

VVD throwing himself at us? Is your info aside of Macca's post that he really wants to play for us and it is FSG and Liverpools deal to throw away?

Also what is your opinion of him as a defender? Are we getting another Loveren or does he offer more

{Ed001's Note - it is a similar thing to Wijnaldum, except it is not the team looking to sell, it is the player looking to move and wants to join us. The deal is not as simple as we are cutting back, it is the new CEO sitting down and trying to get the best deal possible, putting more performance-related bonuses in, rather than a larger flat salary.

Klopp likes him and would like to add him, but personally I think he spends far too much time coasting through games and costs goals.}

So we need a rb, lb, lw, cm and st.

We are jepodising that because a player wants to play for us. Im all for it if it was ronaldo. But 4 weeks ago we were fine for cbs, the eds where confident we weren't signing any, had our targets. And are now about to blow are load on a player whoae not crucial.

Rediculous. Matip and lovren together was fine. They needed stronger competition. Not 50 mils worth mind. A good up and coning player.

Ah well. There goes mendy, pereria, keita. Least where getting the ox.

Hi Ed001, You've previously stated that you think VVD has good physical and technical attributes but lacks in positional sense and concentration. Do you think Klopp and his coaching team could help him improve on this aspect of his game? I ask as, although some players have seen a marked improvement under Klopps coaching, most of them have been more attacking players. Thanks, Dave.

{Ed001's Note - he could do yes. However I think it is more of a personality issue than anything. He is a very laid back guy and that is the issue imo.}

I think he knows he so good. The games so easy. That he doesn't need 5o try as hard or focus as hard because he has the pacr to recover etc.

He is borderline ones of tje worlds best techincal cbs. But for 50 mil we can't have him being taught stuff. For 50 mil he has to come in and be the answeer. For me anyway. 20/ 30 mil fine. 50 and fat wages he has to deliever.
