If Mane goes to the AFCON then I would prefer it if we let Origi, Ejaria or Ojo (if he returns in time) cover in his absence. We will need someone who offers the same sort of pace and power, as well as desire to run in behind and/ or attack the box. Sturridge (if he consciously tried to be more direct) could even do the same job. I really hope we don't sign someone for a 4 week absentee. Might as well start making signings to replace players when they catch a virus!

If we are still top/ Close to top in Jan, I don't mind we signing another fast winger. Mane has pace which gives us a different dimension, opposition defenders can't play very high line. Don't see Chelsea, City, Arsenal, ManU relying on youngsters. If we playing CL nextyear youngsters will definitely get their chance. 27 years is a long time, LiverpoolFC comes first then any player/ Youngster.

{Ed001's Note - how old is Sterling? Stones? What about the likes of Rashford, Shaw, Lingard etc that United have been relying on? Your post is just ridiculous. It is not relying on a youngster to give them a month to provide cover. Idiotic to suggest we buy cover for a month-long tournie.}

We don't need to sign anybody at all, I agree with you MK and ed1, it'd be a stupid move.

GoanRed, maybe sign another Assaidi, El Zhar or Babel?

Because when you tell a player they are coming in to play for a month and then they will be benched, that is the quality of player you will attract!

Unbelievable. The most successful team in the modern era is Barcelona and they have been one of the leading clubs for trusting in their youth.

i can't see us doing much in Jan, the squad looks good right now and I think we may have a big summer coming up in terms of ins/ outs would rather we focused on getting the right players then than plugging gaps half way through a season.

But recently klopp hinted we may buy a wiinger in Jan. It really depends on what klopp thinks/ wants tho. Whatever he decides I'll back him👍👊.

I wouldn't argue with that Kopitef. If Klopp genuinely doesn't believe our kids are good enough to cover for 4 or 5 games then fair enough. For me though, that is one hell of a kick in the teeth for the young lads. I would like to think that if he signs someone it is because he thinks we lack that in the squad already, and not just to replace someone away on international duty for a month!

I also think Origi will step straight into the team, he deserves an opportunity, and I don't think Klopp will put Firmino out wide, for Sturridge to come in. I agree also that Ejaria had played really well in his cameos, and will get more chances when Mane goes off. I don't want us to sign anyone in January personally, perhaps a CB if I had to choose, but there would be a lot of pressure on an attacker to come in a perform from the start, given the fluidity of our attack so far.

It's like saying we're going to sign someone to replace a player who is injured for a month.

To my mind we have youngsters who can fill in for Mane, Ojo stands out a mile in that capacity as he's got pace to burn and looks a good winger and I imagine that Klopp will get the best out of him.

Ejaria or Ojo for me.

Or give Harry Wilson a go if Ojo is still injured.
