Everyone seems to be worried about the left back position with Moreno being backed up by Milner. I was thinking about Sunday and from what i have seen everyone is forgetting Klavan can and has played left back in the past. so what you guys think about a back line of, Clyne, Matip, Lovren and Klavan for the Arsenal game this weekend.

Klavan himself has said that he hasn't played LB for 5-6 years, so I think it is a terrible idea to play him at LB in his first PL game away to Arsenal. I think there is little chance of him playing at LB at anytime during the season bar for emergencies.

Bruffio, you need to read the posts as Klavan has said that he doesn't play LB anymore neither was he signed to play there. We have a problem at LB and neither Klavan, Milner, Moreno nor Gomez is the solution.

i think the worry about left back position is justified and i don't see why anyone would argue that.

If milner is seen as first choice left back (assumption, yes) when we have an actual left back, that does suggest that klopp is not happy with the left back situation.

there is still time in the window, but i do feel this has been a better window having seen that we have fixed other holes in the team, albeit we're starting the season with mignolet, because that's a result of an injury to karius.

and even if we start the season without an addition to LB, and stick with Moreno, i hope Moreno would up his game and improve, he is young and if he is willing to fix his problems, he could still turn out to be good, if he is willing to that is. when a door closes another door opens.

It would be great if Moreno came good but I'm really not convinced he has a great footballing brain. His distribution needs work, his positioning is doubtful and his defending is pretty woeful - flying into tackles he simply can't make. I thought Gomez looked the best option but there you go. Milner will do his best but there is no doubt a specialist would be the preferred option.

I do have some serious doubts as to if Moreno can improve.
I do see a silver lining in that if Mane is playing then Moreno might resist the urge to go forward and provide width as Mane will be up and down the wing.
Half of Morenos problems are that he's too far forward, cut that out and you will cut out half the mistakes he makes (well being out of position anyway) .

At the end of last season without a doubt our 2 most problem areas were lb and gk. we have improved the gk and yet have not addressed the lb sotuation (although we tried to get chilwell) . now the fact we have moved on 2 fullbacks (smith sold and Flanagan loan) and just signed the young Spanish lad (who I hear is not yet first team ready) suprised me. so far I have been more than happy with klopps signings (GW I'm not 100% about) but can't believe that Milner if fit is klopps preferred lb starter. the thought of sane, bolassie, hazard or martial etc running at him with pace terrifies me. also regarding klavan he must start at CB. in pre season he's been more than impressive. i was at the Barcelona game and he was immense.

Don't rate Moreno as a defender, but can't help but think that he will be a cracking player.

Where or what position I haven't got a clue.

Moreno will never be a cracking player because in order to do that., you actually have to be smart and show the ability to learn and improve, none of which Moreno is capable of doing based on what we have seen. Whether he comes good or not in the future is irrelevant because as of now, he is incapable of doing that and we don`t have time to wait especially knowing that had the club just paid the 10m for Chilwell, Moreno would be old news right now.

Well, just have to let the lad play and hope klavan and co can cover if he makes a mistake. Tbf he has had a couple of good games for us and his mistakes do not always lead to goals. So let's be positive and get behind the whole team and get to a flying start. We will win by 3 goals.
